Grade 10 French Successful completion of the English Language Proficiency
Assessment
Compulsory Courses : You must have the following 7 compulsory credits: Grade 11 English 11 (2 credits) Financial and Workplace Mathematics 11 or Foundations of
Mathematics 11 (1 credit) Science (1 credit) Modern History 11 (1 credit) Fine Arts/Life Role Development cluster (1 credit) Grade 12 English 12 (1 credit) You must also have: 4 other courses at the grade ’12’ level

French ImmersionRequirements & Certificates
To graduate as an Immersion student recognized by the province of New Brunswick, students must take a required number of FI designated courses.
50% of the course load in grade 9 and 10
must be FI designated. A minimum of 5 courses with an FI
designation in grades 11 and 12 must be taken.

H.T.H.S. French Immersion Certificate
Students who participated in the French Immersion program and completed both FILA 11, FILA 12 and at least one other F.I. course are eligible to receive a French Immersion Certificate from Harrison Trimble High School recognizing their achievement in maintaining their French second language skills.

CERTIFICATE OF SECOND LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Only students taking a grade 12 French or French Immersion course will be tested.
Must take an oral proficiency interview in grade 12

Focus on Information Technology
(F.I.T.) Certificate The Focus on Information Technology (FIT) program is a nationally recognized certificate that is issued by ICTC. Students are required to take:
Information Technology 120, Business Organization and Management 120, and at least one elective course consisting of
Entrepreneurship 110, Tech Support 110, Computer Science 110, and Digital Technology 120.
Graduates of the FIT program will have the benefit of a
certificate to help distinguish themselves to employers and academic institutions.

PREPARATION FOR COLLEGE
College requirements differ greatly according to the program and are subject to change
Some require a high school diploma only
Other programs require English 112
Other programs may require grade 11 Math and one or two sciences at the grade 12 level
NOTE: NBCC HAS A DEADLINE OF NOV. 1ST OF YOUR GRAD YEAR

PREPARATION FOR UNIVERSITY It is imperative to check with the universities of your
choice A general guideline would be to have a minimum of
five “university-approved” credits for Maritime universities *UNB requires six and a minimum of six for Ontario universities
It is an excellent idea to have at least one more acceptable credit than the minimum required
You must research university requirements. Visit the Guidance office with questions

your Homeroom teacher
Make yourself a copy of your courses to keep
Official forms must be returned to your teacher
A verification form will be sent home and must be returned with a parental signature
Make your choices wisely as when classes are full, it will be difficult to change your mind in the new school year
