BSc programmes
BEng Electronics Courses
Broad based courses which aim to produce well rounded electronic engineers with high levels of analytical and engineering design skills
Common first year grounding in all electronic engineering disciplines, with increasing content of either electrical, communications or
computer engineering in years 2 and 3
• BEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering
• BEng Electronic and Communications Engineering
• BEng Electronic and Computer Engineering
Electronic Engineering • You are:
• Our courses cover:
Analogue and digital electronics, microelectronics and microprocessors, digital signal processing, sensors, instrumentation, control systems, embedded systems, telecommunications, mobile and wireless systems, management and professional skills
“interested in the future of electronics equipment and products that are a vital
part of our daily lives”
Electronic Engineering • You will be:
An architect and implementer of the technological revolution
BEng Computer Systems Courses
• BEng Computer Systems Engineering
• BEng Computer Systems Engineering (Networks)
• BEng Computer Systems Engineering (Software)
The aim of this course is to provide professional engineers who have the required skills to design the next generation of computer systems
By selecting suitable final year modules and a relevant project, students may elect to graduate with one of the specialist
‘Networks’ or ‘Software’ degrees
Computer Systems Engineering • You are:
• Our courses cover:
Digital systems and microprocessors, web design, programming, data networks and security, computer architecture and interfacing, multimedia design, object-oriented programming, distributed systems design, management and professional skills
“interested in the interface between hardware and software and using technology to enhance our lives”
Computer Systems Engineering • You will be:
An architect and implementer of the next generation of computer systems

MEng Courses • Aim to produce graduates equipped to play leading
roles in related industries:
First two years follow the BEng programmes
Third year similar to BEng but with 1 or 2 specialised modules (programme specific)
Final year includes specialised technical modules and a more wide-ranging interdisciplinary group project with an industrial and/or commercial involvement
MEng Courses • All MEng programmes have a related BEng
programme:
The corresponding BEng course for MEng Electrical Engineering with Renewable Energy Systems is BEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering
• Students may change from BEng to MEng at the end of Level 2 if performing at the required standard
Teaching and Learning
Teaching and Learning • Helping students to take responsibility over their own
learning:
Student-centred approach
Range of teaching methods
Peer group learning
Range of assessment methods
Blackboard Learn
Teaching and Learning • Pastoral and academic support:
Personal tutor
Course Director
Taught Programmes Office
Peer Mentoring Scheme
Union of Brunel Students
University support network
Induction Week Egg Race
Level 1 Multidisciplinary Project
Final Year Projects • A final year project is a major part of each degree
course and the biggest single piece of work in any degree:
Counts for 40% of the final year
Must be related to the degree being studied
Chosen from a list or suggested by a student
Assessed by progress review, presentation, demonstration and submission of a project report
