General Information
The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE)is the largest department of the Islamic University of Technology(IUT) with an annual intake of 100 undergraduate students!ffering "oth undergraduate and graduate programmes# thedepartment has esta"lished itself in a leading position in
engineering education in $angladesh It offers students a uni%uehands&on e'perience in state&of&the&art la"oratories andinstruction from well %ualified and dedicated faculty Thedepartment always ensures close interaction "etween studentsand faculty to e'tract the "est out of the students It alsomaintains continuous interactions with industry leaders in areassuch as electronics# telecommunication# integrated circuits#power electronics and power system which give an addedimpetus to the students to ac%uire strong theoretical foundationand e'ceptional practical e'perience
The EEE department is making maor contri"utions toward theachievement of the cherished goal of IUT in developing human
resources of the em"er *tates of !rganisation of Islamic+ooperation (!I+)# especially in the fields of Engineering#*cience and Technology Different programmes are offered "ythe department to prepare the students to place themselves inthe highly competitive world of modern technology
The Programmes are:
Doctor of Philosohy in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering
!aster of Science in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering
!aster of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Postgraduate Diloma in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering
"achelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering
#igher Diloma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
The Department offers two research degrees# Doctor of,hilosophy (,hD) and aster of *cience (*c) in Electricaland Electronic Engineering These higher degrees are awardedon the "asis of prescri"ed course works and independent "utsupervised research in a topic# culminating in the su"mission ofa thesis -or the *c degree# the period of candidature isnormally . semesters re%uiring 1/ credit hours of course workand 1/ credit hours of research +ompletion of the ,hD degree
re%uires credit hours and normally takes 2 semesters
aster of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering isstructured around course works and re%uires .0 credit hours ofcourse work and 2 credit hours of research3proects The periodof candidature for this programme is normally . semesters
,ostgraduate Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineeringinvolves 4 credit hours of course works and research3proectsand normally re%uires 4 semesters for completion of the degree
The $*c Engineering programme in Electrical and ElectronicEngineering comprises of four years of study consisting of eight
consecutive semesters of si'teen weeks duration each5owever# there is a provision for award of 5igher Diploma inElectrical and Electronic Engineering with speciali6ations in,ower *ystem Technology and +omputer *cience andEngineering# after successful completion of three years (si'semesters) of study 5igher Diploma in Engineering graduatesmay also continue further for completion of $*c Engineeringprogramme The course curricula contain engineering science ofhigh level as well as components for hands&on&e'perience toproduce engineers of international standard having relevance tothe development needs of the em"er *tates The coursecurricula are under constant scrutiny and review andcontinuously updated to meet the current needs and
re%uirements The levels and contents are always kept atinternational standard The la"oratory facilities are alsoupgraded from time to time to incorporate new ideas andtechnologies
The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has avi"rant research oriented culture The department hasundertaken research works in various areas of Electrical andElectronic Engineering These focused areas include power
