Grading, Assignments and Exam Policies Student Evaluation Every chapter has a simulation training simulation that you use as many times as you need to learn the material. The training is required and graded; it teaches you what you need to know. After training, each chapter (except the Windows chapter) provides homework assignments that you may submit/resubmit repeatedly; until you achieve the skill level you seek. Finally, each chapter has a true-false/multiple choice quiz that you may submit/resubmit repeatedly. In each case, only the best score is kept for the gradebook. Your grade is calculated from the chapter training, chapter homework, and chapter quizzes. A larger portion for your grade is from the six (6) exams. All assignments and exams are open eBook; you may use your notes and you may use the Internet during exams. Students retaking the course from a previous semester must not reuse files from a previous semester. You MUST NOT use other student’s files as your own.

Exams

You will take six exams; one covering each module. You may use your book, notes, and the Internet during exams. Exams are administered in class by the class coordinator or an appointed teacher’s aide or online in the case of online classes. Each exam allows two attempts/submissions but must be taken on or BEFORE the posted due date and ONLY DURING YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED CLASS TIME. Late exam submissions are rarely accepted so plan ahead and take exams early where possible.

Exam Schedule Module Module Exam Deadline

Microsoft Windows 10 Sim Test (out of class OK)

No later than Sunday January 14

Word Volume 1 No later than Monday February 5

Excel Volume 1 No later than Monday February 26

PowerPoint Volume 1 No later than Monday March 19

Word Volume 2 No later than Monday April 9

PowerPoint Volume 2 No later than Monday April 23

All exams are available from the first day of the semester in the classroom: Business & Engineering Center (BE-1035) during your regularly scheduled class time. Take an exam as soon as you finish a module (3 chapters). Do not wait until deadline day if possible. All chapters are available from the first day of the semester so we highly recommend working ahead. Make-up assignments and exams are not offered except in the most extreme situations. Missed assignment deadlines result in zero points for the activity.

Course Policies Attendance The student bears the responsibility of signing the attendance sheet each day. Perfect attendance may result in a bonus. A week’s worth of absences (two absences for Tuesday-Thursday classes, or

three absences for Monday-Wednesday-Friday classes) will not lower your grade. Every absence beyond will reduce your grade; excessive absences will lead to a failing grade in the course. You cannot pass without attending regularly. You may work ahead and finish early but you must not fall behind. Once finished with the entire course, you are done; you are no longer required to attend.

Academic Integrity All files are digitally signed and traced. Do not share files with other students. Do not download assignments from websites other than your own account at www.myitlab.com. Academic dishonesty IS NOT tolerated. Any student found violating this rule of honesty risks a grade of “0” for the assignment and possible expulsion from the class. Students retaking the course from a previous semester are not allowed to submit their own files from a previous semester. It is never OK to submit someone else’s work as your own. Please consult student handbook or refer to University’s policies at

www.usi.edu/deanofstudents/academic-integrity for specifics about academic dishonesty.
