1This step determines how many requests there are for each course.

2This step takes the number of requests for each core class and converts those numbers into the number of sections of each core class

that will be taught, by whom, and when. Then, this step will take the number of requests for each elective course and convert those

numbers into the number of sections of each elective course that will be taught, by whom, and when. Some students may have to use

alternate course selections at this stage because courses with too few student requests will not be offered.

3Courses may be in conflict with one another when the computer creates the student’s schedule. Alternate courses may have to be used

at this time.

CHS Course Description & Scheduling Guide 5

Scheduling Procedures:

In April 2015, students will receive an orientation to this new scheduling procedure. At that time they will be

encouraged to explore the course handbook and, in cooperation with parents or guardians, create a tentative

schedule for themselves. See page 51 for the form. The student and a parent or guardian are required to sign the

Schedule Request form, indicating their understanding of the scheduling requirements and their approval of the

schedule requests being made.

The completed and signed Schedule Request form will be returned to the student’s advisory teacher. The student

will then transfer his/her requests from the paper request form to the online schedule request form. The online

scheduling request form will be available for students to enter their scheduling requests for the 2015-2016 school

year.

After online requests have been submitted, students will receive a print-out to check their submission for accuracy.

The CHS master schedule will be created based on these requests. Any conflicts will be addressed by the guidance

counselor and alternative classes may be scheduled at this point. Students will be notified when their individual

schedules will be available (prior to the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year).

Progress Book:

Every Crooksville student has an account in Progress Book, where grades and attendance information are

recorded. Students and parents both have access to this account and can monitor progress throughout the

grading period (rather than waiting for mid-term or final grade reports).

Progress Book logins and passwords remain the same from year to year, so if you accessed an account in the past,

you can continue to use that login. If you are new to our district or have never set up your Progress Book access,

you will need to get a registration key code from the high school office. A link to the Progress Book site is found

under the “Parents & Community” heading on the school website.

WHAT IT TAKES TO EARN AN OHIO DIPLOMA: GRADUATING CLASSES OF 2018 & BEYOND House Bill 487 updated Ohio’s graduation requirements to ensure that all students are ready for success in college

and work. As a result, the Class of 2017 (10th-graders in the 2014-2015 school year) will be the last students to

take the current Ohio Graduation Tests. The new requirements take effect with students entering ninth grade in

the 2014-2015 school year (Class of 2018). Additionally, every student in the Class of 2018 and beyond will have

the opportunity to take a nationally-recognized college admission exam free of charge in Grade 11. The honors

diploma remains another option for students.

College Credit Plus Students in grades 7-12 may apply for College Credit Plus (CCP) admission to public or participating private colleges. The college will admit

the student based on college-readiness scores in one or more areas. CCP gives Ohio students the opportunity to take college courses

and receive college credit while still in high school.

Some college courses under CCP will be offered at Crooksville High School but you may also travel to the college where you have been

admitted or enroll in one or more online courses offered by that college.

Contact Mrs. Baughman at (740) 982-7015 if you have any questions or concerns about CCP.
