Natural Flow of Feelings
Any “missing feeling” derails
the technique
The orphan feeling technique.
• Identify the missing feeling.• Strengthen implicit memory systems of
emotional expression and feeling the feeling.• Strengthen explicit memory systems of affect
labeling.• Includes practicing 10 – 20 expressions daily for
5 days with an EBT Connection Buddy.• 10 X 10 to rewire allostatic circuits that blocked
emotional expression and feeling the feeling.
“Hostility Buddies”
Provider demonstration: A+ Anger (primitive, sub-cortical, body activation, effective) vs. C- anger (non-primitive, neocortical, no body activation, ineffective).
Voluntary. Hostility Buddy. Instruct to stop if not safe. After 1 – 2 weeks, continue with 10 X 10 on circuits that blocked anger expression.
Model humor, delight, warmth and gritty joy!
Application
Experiential Activities:
Lab, Seminar & Practice
• Describe long-term potentiation based on brain region and cellular changes to your lab partner.
• Complete a role play in which you instruct a participant on the Missing Feeling Technique and document that experience on the Missing Feeling Technique Checklist.
