continued on page 2..... The Courier On Monday of this week, a new automotive repair shop opened up in downtown Shoshone. While the location is not new to this kind of business, fresh paint and a lot of cleaning has turned the former “Ben’s Automotive” (next to the fire department) into the new home of Ray’s Automotive. Ray Stein has worked as a qualifiied auto me- chanic for 24 years, and an ASE Certified Mechen- ic for the last 20 Years. After spending much of of his carreer working for Dean Tire and Automotive in Ketchum, he decided start up his own business in his home town. For the last several years, Ray has be working out of his home, but he jumped at the opportunity to move his repair shop in to town. Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ray’s offers oil changes, tire repair, tune-ups, brakes, electrical, A/C, mufflers/exhaust, align- ment and front-end repair, and anything else your car or truck might need. Call 208-539-3987 for an appointment, or just stop by and say hello. Social Media Fights Against Poaching Several recent poaching cases are catching the atten- tion of Facebook users who follow the Citizens Against Poaching page; a trophy mule deer shot before rifle season in Caribou County, two five-point bull elk shot out of season in Owyhee County, five mule deer with backstraps removed; left to waste in Homedale. The list goes on. Some of these cases are stirring a great deal of emotion in wildlife lovers who are angry about these crimes. While social me- dia allows Citizens Against Poaching to expose these cases more effectively, this is not necessarily a sign of an increase in poaching. “With millions of acres of habitat here in Idaho, along with abundant wild- life, people who choose to steal fish and wildlife from the people of Idaho have plenty of opportunity,” said Assistant Chief of Enforce- ment Chris Wright “Poach- ing has been a problem here from the day our agency was created 75 years ago. In the 21st century we hope New Repair Shop in Shoshone This Friday is the last day for in-person absentee/ear- ly voting. If you haven’t al- ready done so, or you plan to vote next Tuesday, No- vember 4th, here are some things you need to know. Bring your photo ID: driver’s license or Idaho photo identification card; A U.S. passport or Federal photo identification card; A tribal photo identifica- tion card; or a current stu- dent photo ID, issued by an Idaho high school or post secondary education insti- tution. If a voter is not able to show an acceptable ID, the voter will be given the option to sign the Personal Identification Affidavit. Since there are several “Write-in” campaigns in our local elections, be sure you know who you are vot- ing for and how to spell their name (if they are a write-in). Also, be sure to put an “X” in the box next to the name you are voting for (just writing in the name of a person is not a valid vote). If you are unsure of anything while voting, be sure to ask poll workers for information. They will have a list of qualified write-in candidates which you can use, but you must return it after voting. Last (but certainly not unimportant), be sure to turn your clocks back one hour this Sunday for the end of daylight savings time - no need to be early for everything. Vote for Experience & Proven Leadership

RE-ELECT STEVE MILLER“Steve Miller’s comprehensive understanding of the state budget – from funding education to preserving our water – has made him an extremely valuable member of the Idaho Legislature. I encourage you to send him back to the House of Representatives to continue working hard for you and the great State of Idaho. Please join me in support-ing Steve Miller in the November 4th election." C.L. "Butch" Otter, Governor, State of Idaho

“As Lt. Governor, I’ve seen Rep. Steve Miller in action. He is a knowledgeable and strong voice as we work togeth-er to expand Idaho’s economy. As a Legislator, he invites the opinions of others, listens respectfully, and is a thoughtful decision maker. I urge you to re-elect Representative Steve Miller." Brad Little, Lt. Governor, State of Idaho

“Idaho needs Legislators like Representative Steve Miller who are committed to preserving and improving the quali-ty of life of Idahoans. His extensive experience in public service, agriculture and small business, as well as his past two years serving in the House of Representatives, make him the right choice as your Representative. I encourage you to support Steve Miller.” U.S. Senator Mike Crapo

U.S. Congressman Mike Simpson

“As Speaker of the Idaho House of Representatives, I know Steve Miller to be an experienced decision-maker who listens, analyzes facts and weighs outcomes before deciding on issues. He is approachable, available and responsive. Steve’s knowledge of and experience in conservation and aquifer recharge make him a valued resource within the Legislature. I highly endorse Steve Miller.”
