Durin; the last 5t months of service the assistant agent has

spent 78 days on 4-�{ Club work and 57 days itli th general agriculturalwork. The agent has spent 85 days in the office and 50 days in thefield. T'nere were 68 farm and home visits made by t::e aeent. ThereVlere 275 office calls and 69 telephone calls made during this period.The agerrt had 56 news stories published and made 22 radio broadcastsand ap:proximately 350 bulletins were distributed to interested peoplethroughout the county.

Tl:e deadline for all 4-H enrollrr:.ents in Pinal County was on

De cemo er- 1 at 'w�ich time 199 girls arid 192 boys were enrolled in4-H Club work. These numbers represented 27 4-H Clubs tr.cr'ough­out Pinal County.

'I'he months of December and part of January were spent invisiting the different clubs. There were a number of new leaderstl:is year that needed considerable help. Many project visitswere made over this period. The agent tried to meet vlith eachclub to see toot they got started correctly in filling out theirrecord books • Individual confercmces wer e hzLd with many leadersto help outline the club work. In Junuary the a gcrrt mo t �':i th thehand.i cr-af t leaders to outline a s!1tisfactory rae tl-od of judc�inG thehandt cr-af t exhibits at the County 4-H Fair.

The aGent visi ted many business concerns in January to talkabout t he,n sponsoring special ai.ar-ds at the 4-I-I County Fair. The 13th Annual 4-E Fair orsanization started in Janu3ry.T�le 4-H Fair book iiJ3S written by the assistant agent and mailedto all Lea Jer s and interested personnel by 11arch 1st. The fairbook this year was very much revised over last year. First, itij'Jas much smaLlar and corrta rned no names ott..':;r then leaders andbusiness concerns backing club 'work. The book was made very shortand easy to read and it is t:lis a -:::ants belief ttat the leadersre ad this book this year where in the past t�:8y have no t , This

This agent started a vleekly radio program last fall over thelocal CooLi dge 'station. It vra s decided that an excellent way tocontact the :;)60],)Ls all over the county 'would be by radio. The

programs wer e conducted by the assistant agent ar.d the station

Manager. Thsy v.ere very mrorraa.l and often originated from a homeor at an i�ortant meeting. �s agent presented on the programsinforl�tion about horticulture, plant diseases and insect control.The procrar�s ":'Jere ar-ranged so the Lnf'or-mat ion giV8::l each week trou'l.dbe very ti�ely. The 4-E 'Jlub work in Pinal County has increased considerablein the past 3� years, but there is still a great deal of organiza­tion to be done. The county is still not entirely sold on clubwork and until this is accomplished club work is going to be fight­ing an uphill struggle. Newspaper and radio publicity has been

doing a great service in getting 4�H publicity to the peo�le. Itis important that this be continued. �Then the county is sold on

4-H Club Vlork, then the agent can work out a stable club progra.m.Out of school clubs still remain the nucleus of all club "tiork. Itis hoped all clubs will soon be in this class. !Core clubs V18re
