Introduction
In 1995, United Nation Development Programme
(UNDP) and Ministry of Education, Myanmar Government,
officially invited Her Royal Highness to provide assistance
concerning school lunch programme.
In 2002, the collaboration actually began. During
2002 to 2004, 59 representatives participated in the second
collaborative project.

In 2008 some areas of the Republic of the Union of
Myanmar were hit by cyclone Nargis.
Kadonkani village, Bogalay Township, Ayeyawaddy Region was destroyed.
Another cooperation was established for victims at Kadonkani.

1. To develop a collaborative plan for establishing a school-based children and youth development model by adapting Her Royal Highness’ experiences
2. To strengthen capacities of the schoolteachers in school implementation

Main Activities
Some pieces of land of our schools have been
allotted for students to grow flower plants, vegetables and
fruit trees, We also have orchid gardens and some patches
of Myanmar traditional herbal plants .

The vegetables we have grown are water cress,
mustard leaf, kale (collard greens), long beans, goa beans,
egg plants, okras, gourds and pumpkins.

You can see long- time trees such as teak, drumsticks,
bread-fruit and jackfruits in our school compounds.

Vegetables from our plantation like fried water cress,
fried long beans, fried mustard leaves and vegetable soup
are cooked to serve to Primary students as the supplement
of their lunch.

Checkup of teeth and oral, measuring of weight and height are carried by township health officers.

Moreover, as a school health educational programme, there are posters on dengue fever prevention hung on the walls and on the bulletin-board you can see articles, poems and cartoons on AIDS prevention and the photos of the school hygiene activities. The figurines make the students arouse to be interested in education on health.

The teachers and the children can gain
knowledge and skills in agriculture

Lesson learned
By adapting from Her Royal Highness’ approach, we
are aware of
farming methods without using artificial chemical
fertilizer,
school gardening and using the produce to supplement
the students’ diets
and to raise money for the schools to be able to set up
children and youth development activities.
