GENERAL RESEARCH, EXTENSION, AND TEACHING INTERESTS Soil, crop, nutrient, and water management for vegetables, small fruits, nursery and landscape plants, bioenergy crops, agronomic, and medicinal crops. My research interests include: - Developing sustainable and organic production systems that integrate nutrient, water, and pest

management practices through plant selection, use of biological and natural amendments (e.g. mycorrhizal fungi, cover crops, compost, minerals, and clay), and an efficient irrigation system.

- Increasing soil carbon sequestration through reduced to no-tillage systems and use of recycled natural material to build up organic matter.

- Using tools and technologies that extend off-season crop production and improve nutrient and water use and efficiency, reduce runoff, cost of production, and plant stress.

My Teaching interests include: Teaching/Co-teaching courses in Organic and Sustainable Crop Production, Garden Science, Vegetable Production and Management, Greenhouse Production and Management, Plants and The Environment, Herbs and Medicinal Plants, Plant Propagation, Nursery Production and Management, Nutrient and Water Management, and Soil-Plant Interaction. My Extension and adminstrative interests include: - Serving as an educator for the public and scientific community by providing leadership in

determining needs, establishing priorities, as well as developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and activities.

- Facilitating the application of research-based knowledge by stakeholders and agricultural clientele.

- Serving as an administrator for projects, securing budgets for applied research and Extension activities, and organizing educational conferences/meetings that include industry clientele and specialists.

- Coordinating activities between organizations, institutions, and the public at national and international levels.
