3. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 2 ½” Fabric D strip to each side of (1) 2 ½” Fabric C square. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric C square to make (1) Unit 1 square (Fig. 5). Repeat to make (9) Unit 1 squares total.

4. Place (1) 2 ½” Fabric H square on the top left corner of (1) Unit 1 square, right sides together (Fig. 6). Sew across the diagonal of the small square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 6). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam. Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 7).

5. Follow Figure 8 for the seam direction to a 2 ½” Fabric H square to each of the remaining corners of the Unit 1 square to make (1) Unit 2 square (Fig. 9).

7. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric E strip to each side of (1) Unit 2 block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 2 block to make (1) Unit 3 block (Fig. 10). Repeat to make (9) Unit 3 blocks total.

9. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric F strip to each side of (1) Unit 4 square. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric F strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 4 square to make (1) Unit 5 square (Fig. 12). Repeat to make (9) Unit 5 squares total.

11. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric G strip to each side of (1) Unit 6 square. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 10 ½” Fabric G strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 6 square to make (1) Unit 7 square (Fig. 14). Repeat to make (9) Unit 7 squares total.

13. Repeat Steps 4-5 and refer to Figure 16 for fabric identification, placement and seam direction to add a 2 ¾” Fabric E square to each corner of (1) Unit 8 square to make (1) Block Five square. Repeat to make (9) Block Five squares total.

14. Repeat Steps 3-13 and refer to Figure 17 for fabric identification, placement and seam direction to make (6) Block Six squares.

15. Follow Figure 18 and sew (9) Block Five squares, (3) Block Two squares, (3) Block Four squares, (5) Block One squares and (4) Block Three squares and (6) Block Six squares together into a 5 x 6 matrix to make the Center Block. The Center Block should measure 50 ½” x 60 ½”.

16. Place (1) 1 ¾” Fabric W square on the left side of (1) 1 ¾” x 3” Fabric I strip, right sides together (Fig. 19). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 19). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance. Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 20).

17. Place another 1 ¾” Fabric W square on the right side of the 1 ¾” x 3” Fabric I strip, right sides together (Fig. 21). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 21). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance. Flip open the triangle formed and press to make (1) Unit 9 strip (Fig. 22).

18. Repeat Steps 16-17 to make (16) Unit 9 strips total.

19. Sew (1) 1 ¾” Fabric I square to each end of (1) Unit 9 strip to make the top row. Repeat to make the bottom row. Sew (1) Unit 9 strip to each side of (1) 3” Fabric W square to make the middle row. Sew the (3) rows together to make (1) Unit 10 square (Fig. 23). Repeat to make (4) Unit 10 squares total.

20. Sew (1) 2” x 5 ½” Fabric I strip to the left side of (1) Unit 10 square to make (1) Unit 11 rectangle (Fig. 24). Repeat to make (4) Unit 11 rectangles total.

Quilt Top Assembly (Follow the Quilt Layout while assembling the quilt top.)25. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 60 ½” Fabric I strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 52 ½” Fabric I strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

22. Follow Figure 43 and sew together (13) assorted 5 ½” x 7” units to make the Left Side Border. Repeat to make the Right Side Border (Fig. 44).

23. Refer to Figure 45 below to sew (12) assorted 5 ½” x 7” units together. Sew (1) 2” x 7” Fabric I strip to each end of the newly sewn strip. Sew (1) Unit 19 rectangle to the left end of the newly sewn strip to make the Top Border.
