Product Updates of 2014

Presented by DICOM Grid

DICOM Grid continuously rolls out new features to provide fast, reliable software and services. Our product and engineering teams keep a tight schedule in order to deliver new feature goodness at an impressive four-week clip. In working with our customers and partners, we’ve announced the release of many dynamic features for both administrators and users. We’ve been honored to receive great kudos for our software. This year we've added several new awards to our collection, including the CODiE award for Best Medical Information Solution, a Red Herring Award, and recognition from KLAS Research for top performance ratings among medical image exchange vendors.

Let’s bid farewell to 2014 by counting down the top 10 product updates of the year!

10 iPhone Optimized Viewer Brings Mobility into View

10. iPhone Optimized Viewer Brings Mobility into View

• Specifically designed for small screens • Features essential tools: pan, zoom, rotate, and patient demographic display • Easily move between series and images

As part of our ongoing effort to promote “anywhere accessibility” to imaging across devices, we’ve unveiled new mobile viewing capabilities, including an iPhone and Android optimized viewer.

From your worklist, you can choose how you want to view the study:

• open in viewer• open in new tab• open as related study• open with simple viewer

When using Chrome, Firefox or IE11 you’ll see an additional option ‘Open with WebGL Viewer’ (our fastest viewer).

10. iPhone Optimized Viewer Brings Mobility into View

That’s not all! We’re now offering more ways to access our viewer than one can shake a stick at.

Another highlight is the launch of our local viewer. The viewer can be bundled with a study download for local viewing. The local viewer is supported on Windows and MacOS, and can be burned to a CD or DVD.

9 You’ve Got Mail with Secure Messaging

9. You’ve Got Mail with Secure Messaging

• Secure • HIPAA compliant • Communicate with organizations, locations, or groups • Send messages to DG users via email address or share code Users are notified when they have received a message as soon as they log into DG Suite with a red notification in the messages tab.

We’ve taken collaboration to a new level with real-time messaging.

8 Up the Ante with the Web Uploader

8. Up the Ante with the Web Uploader

Big changes happened to the Web Uploader that make it an even smoother upload experience for you, your patients, and referring physicians.

• Support for multiple, non-DICOM studies to be uploaded at once • It’s even easier to add and display custom fields during the upload process (shown at right)

8. Up the Ante with the Web Uploader

Did you know you can modify your Web Uploader login page with clickable training guides, screencasts, and any other information that will help guide users through the process?

You can configure up to fifteen links on the login page.

And there’s more good news… no more Java! We removed the Java requirement when using Chrome browser for uploading.

7 Big Changes to the Viewer Layout

7. Big Changes to the Viewer Layout

We’ve overhauled the viewer layout to improve performance and customizability.

The toolbar is now displayed across the top of the screen. You also have the option to display the thumbnails either vertically or horizontally.

7. Big Changes to the Viewer Layout

You  can  modify  the  toolbar  by  grouping  bu5ons  together  as  you  see  fit,  you  can  even  reuse  toolbar  customiza;ons  in  order  to  define  a  custom  right-‐click  menu.

The  viewer  can  be  opened  in  a  mul;-‐monitor  configura;on,  either  manually,  or  automa;cally  based  on  custom  hanging  protocols.  Many  of  the  viewer  tools  are  automa;cally  synchronized  across  windows.

6 'Workflow Shortcuts' Cut the Clicks and the Work

6. 'Workflow Shortcuts' Cut the Clicks and the Work

Want less clicks? Workflow shortcuts allow you to share studies to predetermined destinations with only one click on the worklist.

It’s a completely customizable feature, meaning there are numerous ways to put shortcuts to good use.

For example, using a workflow shortcut a physician can promote a study to PACS or share with a specialty group with just a single click.

5 Auto-PHI Normalization for Outside Studies

5. Auto-PHI Normalization for Outside Studies

When it comes to workflow, we like options and automation. Normalizing PHI for outside studies shouldn't be any different. While we still support the traditional approaches to normalizing PHI from outside studies such as MWL Querying and Order Matching, we now provide auto-PHI normalization without any manual intervention

4 Find Related Studies and Reports in the Viewer

4. Find Related Studies and Reports in the Viewer

If related studies such as priors and/or reports for a patient exist in DG Suite, they can now be found in the thumbnails panel from within the viewer. Have a look below!

3 Keep Good Time with Filters and Routing Rules

3. Keep Good Time with Filters and Routing Rules

Routing rules are a hallmark of DICOM Grid’s technology, allowing you to control how imaging data is shared between users and across locations on a granular level.

If you want to send a study to different destinations based on the time of day it hits your account, time filters is the name of the game. For example, you can set up a routing rule to send studies to your day readers between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm M-F and to your nighthawk readers at all other times.

2 Images, At Your Request

2. Images, At Your Request

Now it’s easier than ever to request a study. Using the new ‘Request Study’ button you can enter the email address of a patient or referring physician to send a link to your study upload page.

With no login required, uploading and sharing studies is a snap. You will receive notifications when the upload link is accessed and when a study is shared by the patient or referring physician. There's no limit to the number of studies you can request and the same link can be used over and over again.

1. Image Enable the EMR? Be Our Guest with Guest Links

Guest Links can be contextually embedded into the third party system for enterprise-wide EMR integrations, Health Information Exchange, calendars, patients portals and file sharing applications.

Guest links give direct access to the study in the DG Viewer or worklist. These links are secure, with an option to password protect them. On top of that, the permissions are highly restrictive and time out after 15 minutes, with full tracking of IP addresses in the audit table. Click  to  launch  the  viewer
