The Canyon Creek Counselor in Training (CIT) program is for boys and girls 15 and 16 years of age who have a genuine interest in working with children. The program is structured to prepare CIT’s to become assistant and head counselors and become eligible for paid positions!

CIT’s primarily work with our youngest campers and assist counselors in various activities throughout the camp day. CIT’s have the availability to still participate in their favorite camp activities during their time at Canyon Creek in addition to learning how to direct the activities themselves.

Counselors in Training at this California Summer Camp learn skills though a variety of methods. CIT’s will have experiential learning by shadowing and assisting current staff, have discussions with fellow CIT’s and counselors, participate in team building activities, and will receive evaluations from their supervisor throughout the training process.
