    Minimum Qualification Requirement:Counselor Tier II: Must have two years (2,000 hours), full-time post-masterssupervised clinical experience; and must be able to obtain privileges at Tier II asestablished by Marine Corps Headquarters and consistent with SECNAVINST 1754.7A andMCO P1700.24B. Must have a valid state license and comply with all legal and regulatoryrequirements of a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and FamilyTherapist (LMFT). College transcripts and state license must be submitted inorder to be considered for the position.

    Counselor Tier III : Must have two years post licensure experience that includes atleast 2,000 hours post licensure or 4,000 hours post graduate degree, full-time clinicalexperience in a clinical setting field; must meet licensing requirements and obtainprivileges at Tier III as established by Marine Corps Headquarters and consistent with

    SECNAVINST 1754.7A and MCO P1700.24B. Must have a valid state license and complywith all legal and regulatory requirements of a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) orLicensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). College transcripts and statelicense must be submitted in order to be considered for the position.

    Special Notes: Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) are recognized by theDepartment of Defense as independent providers in the following states: Arizona,Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas,Virginia, Washington State, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

    This position may be extended at management discretion without further competition.

    The individual selected for this temporary position may be made permanent withoutfurther competition.Employment, to include placement in either Tier II or Tier III,is contingent upon the favorable certification of candidate by Marine CorpsHeadquarters in accordance with the above cited regulations. Successfulapplicants hired at the Tier II level, upon meeting certification requirementsfor Tier III, will be placed at the Tier III level. Must possess a valid NorthCarolina drivers license; or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire date.

    Introduction. This position is located in Family Advocacy and General Counseling,Behavioral Health Program, Marine and Family Programs, Marine Corps CommunityServices (MCCS), Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The incumbent

    provides counseling in the areas of general mental health to include: domestic violence,child abuse/neglect, and marriage and family discord, as well as providing services withemphasis on the military organization missions, lifestyles, and situations, which cancontribute to family stress, problems, and crisis situations.Duties and Responsibilities. Provides crisis intervention andmental health therapy for individuals, couples, and families. Provides follow up servicesfor clients and maintains up to date records. Facilitates group counseling programs forfamily members and active duty service members. Conducts workshops and commandtraining programs to aid in the prevention of domestic violence and promotion of goodmental health. Maintains communication and harmonious relationships with federal,state, and local government agencies. Performs other related duties as assigned.
