LAUREN (PROTAGONIST)

For jogging, Lauren will wear sports clothes and a white t-shirt to symbolise that she is the protagonist. She will have headphones attached to her phone to play music out of, as this is a common activity for running and will provide music for the opening.

I have chosen this attire as it is age appropriate for Lauren and the bag gives her a reason to be in the location of the town. The bright colour of the top will make her stand out against the other people around her and especially the antagonists.

I have chosen the light colours for Lauren’s dress to signify her character as ‘good’, and I feel that this outfit is appropriate for a school or college setting. The box gives Lauren a reason to be entering the classroom.

I have chosen this outfit because it is appropriate for ‘going out’ in, which is a common activity for young people Lauren’s age. The light colour of the jacket reflects her character being the protagonist, especially in contrast to the all black attire of the last male character.

MAN 1

The first character my protagonist encounters is a dog walker, therefore the props needed will include a lead and a dog. I will be using my own dog for this as she is comfortable with the actor playing this character (Jake) therefore will not hinder the filming process. For this character’s costume I have chosen grey jeans and a dark grey hoodie, as he is one of the antagonists however he is not a main part therefore is dressed in a nondescript colour to reinforce is anonymity.

MAN 2

For this character, I decided they should be carrying a backpack and a plastic carrier bag to give them purpose and a motive for being in the location of the high-street. I have chosen dark blue as the primary colour for this character’s outfit to imply he is an antagonist however the absence of bright colours ensures he is not the main focus. The hoodie and backpack are appropriate for his age group as a late teen/young adult.

MAN 3

For the final and main antagonist of my film opening, I have decided to make the character obviously ominous from his initial introduction by dressing him in black, which will also disguise him in the dark. He will be on his phone as a motive for hanging around on the street corner until Lauren walks by, when he will put the phone away.

MALE STUDENTS

The two male students will be dressed in school uniform to reinforce their age as younger than the protagonist and also to remain in keeping with the location of the school classroom. They will also have textbooks and paper on the desk to give them reason to be in the classroom when Lauren enters.

TEACHER

For this character, I have decided they will wear normal work clothes to fit the role of a teacher, which will be reinforced by a staff card on a lanyard, as I think this is a recognisable mark of authority and associated with the teaching profession. As she is not a main character, her clothes will not stand out.
