SANTO DOMINGO DE HEREDIAArrival into Juan Santamaria International Airport, you will be met by your private guide. Transfer to your Hotel where you can stroll around 4 hectares of tropical gardens or relax by the pool.

Day 1

SANTO DOMINGO DE HEREDIA - TORTUGUERO After breakfast, depart for Tortuguero (translates as Land of Turtles), passing Braulio Carrillo National Park, which is home to a wide variety of birds and mammals. Enjoy the breathtaking views as you journey to the Caribbean coast. Admire the unique flora and fauna as a 2 hour boat ride takes you through the canals of the rain forest jungle to your Lodge. Upon arrival, receive a short briefing on included activities, followed by lunch.

TORTUGUEROExplore the secondary canals of this jungle paradise, where you can see a range of mammals, birds and reptiles. Tortuguero offers a full contact with Mother Nature. In the afternoon, visit the village of Tortuguero where you will learn the lifestyle of local residents and the significant conservation efforts.

TORTUGUERO – TURRIALBAThe journey continues with a return boat transfer before travelling to the central highlands area of Guapiles, for lunch. Afterwards, we visit Hacienda Tayutic with breathtaking views of the Valley before we continue into the Turrialba region and enjoy birdwatching at the Lodge.

TURRIALBA - SAVEGREToday we will explore the Orosi Valley and Tapanti National Park which covers over 5,000 ha of rainforest. It is not only an excellent birding site but habitat to unique mammals, reptiles and insects. Then we will continue for approx 3.5 hours to San Gerardo de Dota cloud forest area to our charming accommodation.

Days 10-11SAN GERARDO DE DOTA – THE OSA PENINSULADepart early morning through the valley of San Isidro del General, to the sleepy town of Sierpe. Board a boat to begin your adventure in the Corcovado National Park area which is considered one of the most biologically intense areas with its untamed natural beauty and incredible wildlife. Our unique rainforest and marine adventure hotel overlooking Drake Bay is all about adventure and the magic of nature.

THE OSA PENINSULAThis lush region is home to many endangered species of animals and birds. Discover remote beaches, spectacular scuba diving and snorkelling around Cano Island. Corcovado National Park occupies about a third of the Osa peninsula and known for being one of the largest and most pristine parks in Costa Rica, home of the 3% of the world’s biodiversity.

OSA PENINSULA – SANTO DOMINGO DE HEREDIAThis morning is the last chance to explore the area before returning to the Sierpe River. Transfer to the Palmar Sur airstrip for your flight to San Jose where you will be transferred to your hotel.

DAY 11: DEPARTURE DAYTransfer to the airport for your onward flight home with a lifetime of wonderful memories.

SAN GERARDO DE DOTALocated in the cool highlands of the Talamanca Mountains, the emerald valley of San Gerardo de Dota is one of Costa Rica’s best-kept secrets. Magnificent landscapes, the quiet town is a haven for birdwatchers, boasting over 200 species, including the quetzal, hummingbird and woodpecker. Anglers can fish for trout in the Savegre River.

Los Quetzales National Park has three types of rainforest and fourteen different ecosystems. Set at a high altitude (up to 3,000M) along the Talamancan Mountain Range, much of the Park is covered in cloud forest and protects a crucial habitat for several plant, insect and animal species.
