Philosophy has been defined as the rove of wisdom.A systematic general conception of principle as applied toa_philosophy of l i fe. The knowledge of the cause of allphenomena both of mind and matter.

our present perception of mind and matter must beexpanded to the realm of cause in order to understandand take our place in the class room of everlastinglearning.

observation is our greatest teacher but we must learnto see the cause or the related purpose of all forms ormanifestations.

Principle, or source of origin, and nature,s laws re-main forever the same for they are immutable. Man,sconcept of the law expands as he desires to know moreand more of his purpose in relation to the cosmos.

our neighbors on the sister planets of our solar sys-tem came to the realization a long time ago that everyminutest particle in the cosmos is inter-related with everyother particle. Thereby in order to have even a small per-ception of the purpose of l i fe, each phase must be studiedin relation to the whole. They shared a theory with allwho were interested and gradually theories grew intofacts as they explored further and further and unified ail

life. A humble reverence and love for the All KnowingIntelligence as It expressed in every living form becametheir inspiration. Human relationship and behaviorismwas taught to their children to aid them in individualexpression of their own divinity.

The following lessons I humbly present with the hopethat they may act as..stepping stones in your quest forknowledge.

THE TRUTH ABOUT TRUTH

Polit ical factions are clamoring against each other forthe right of opinion; philosophers and scientists are argu-ing about the truth of their var ious theor ies; al l ove. i t .world confl icting thought centers are springing up, eachprofessing itself the only dispenser of the absolute truthand man finds himself wondering just what is truth.

As long as man has been in existence I suppose hehas sought for truth without recognizing it when he hadit firmly in his grasp.

Many generations ago when the Roman Empire wasat the height of her glory and the weight of her dom-inance was felt by a host of people there arose in hermidst a master mind who said to those oppressed, "youshall know the truth and the truth shall make you free."And the people eager for deliverance, cried out, "Thetruth! Give us the truth that we may be free!" They weretold the meaning of truth but they could not comprehendand so we hear the echo of those words and of the bil l ionsl ike them quiver ing down the ages with an insistentappeal - "The truth! what is t ruth?"

r\nd for every such questioning voice there is anothercal l ing, "Fol low me, I a lone can give you the real t ruth!"And blindly the people follow, l i t t le knowing or under-

standing the purpose of l i fe.So to you of this present day - you who have ac-

quired much knowledge of many things, I ask, "Whatis t ruth?"

Those who are idealistically inclined wil l answer, "ftis reality!" And those who are founded upon a cold sci-entif ic basis wil l answer, "Fact." Others wil l say thattruth is that which is opposed to untruth or is that whichis good. To those who gave the first ' two answers I shallsay you are correct so far as you have gone but I shallproceed to catch you in a net of your own weaving. Thelatter answer that truth is that which is good is utterlymisconceived and evasive.

Let us, therefore, get down to real analysis. Just whatis the truth about truth? You have said that it is Realityand if I were to ask you to define reality you would becompelled to admit that it is that which has actual exist-ence, and yet you speak of the real and the unreal. Youhave a set standard for Reality. Does not everything thatis known have apparent existence? How else should ithave become known?

What of those that say truth is fact - explainingfurther that it is that which can be proven. Let me askyou this - proven to whom and by what and for how

long? Again you must have a set standard of discrimina-

tion. Must it be proven by man's laws or theories that

have already been given recognition? Then you areputting a l imitation on truth. Must it be proven to all

people or only to one who is able to see beyond the

perception of his fellow-men? Proof can only go so far as

a man wi l l accept and truth to each man is only thatwhich he has experienced ei ther by mental real izat ion orphysical expression, and yet t ruth is universal . I t is thesum total of act ion. Every smal lest quiver ing frequencyin the whole cosmos is t ruth - t rue because i t perpetu-ates act ion. I shal l br ing al l of my statements down to aperfectly logical, matter-of-fact foundation.

Most of the world 's intolerance is due to the miscon-cept ion of t ruth. Men f ight to death for their indiv idualconcept of i t when a l i t t le wisdom would show them thatthey are only a step apart in the same hal l of learning, butdue to the fac t that every ind iv idua l in te l l igence has aslightly different degree of understanding, truth to eachis s l ight ly di f ferent. Intolerance is a mark of ignorance,for a developed intell igence is able to view sequences ofact ion that shows each separate act ion to be relat ivelytrue. And because all sides of a question are understoodhe is bound by none. This type of intel l igence does notcondemn those who see only one phase of the wholet ru th . Ins tead he wi l l po in t out the p i t fa l ls or l im i ta t ionsthat fo l low the course of thought that the indiv idual isindu lg ing in .

Truth is act ion - the whole act ion of which everypart is t rue. Smal l t ruths lead into greater t ruths ancl onesmall truth cast out as false can block the progress of aciv i l izat ion, as has been shown by the history of the past.

Because men do not understand the meaning of t ruthand are therefore intolerant, there has been a span of overa thousand years of scient i f ic darkness that might l ravebeen used to br ing the slowly evolving civ i l izat ion to a

higher standard of human expression."You shall know the truth and the truth shall make

you free." And the truth is that all things are true - t lug

in a relative sense, I grant You,- relative to all other

parts, but unti l men recognize and give due consideration

to the Cause of all actions they will never be free' Only

in unit ing our efforts, acknowledging a common purpose

can we bring civi l ization to a unif ied state of under-

standing and progress.Truth is like a great picture puzzle - a mosaic, as it

were, and each man's individual expression is a part of

the total composition. The mature individual realizes l i fe

as a succession of duties to be performed. Because there

are diversified concepts of life does not mean that only

one can be correct. No, all are true. Whatever is con-

ceived in the mind of man is true to him for the moment

just as every act of nature is true whether it be of creation

or dis integrat ion. Man's ideas may be used unwisely

because he has not enough knowledge to use them con-

structively in relation to other truths, but that does not

mean that the results establish a fact'

our purpose in l i fe, then, is not to personally judge

between the true and the untrue but to so coordinate our

own being with nature that we may unite the knowledge

of Cause and Effect.

THE MAGNIFICENT PERCEPTTON

P R E L U D E

The roll of the tides and the waves and the rising andsetting of suns, the whirling of atoms and worlds are alltuned to the cosmic Plan yet are subject to time and tospace.

Time is the instrument used to measure the move-ment of Beings - the element action creates in its pathfrom the formless to the formed. In Eternity always youare, but in time you're unstable, inconstant.

Sit here at the center of all and look out on your fluxof expression. As the moon to the vision of man passesthrough all the various phases yet remains still an orbcomplete without change or point of division, So youthrough your phases shall pass; mortal eyes shall seechange and division yet you are a circle complete -you're endless, eternal, abiding

Look forth from these eternal heights, from the heartof your unified being; look down towards the plains ofdesire where your destiny finds its fulfillment. Lookclosely and firmly perceive that the break which you onetime envisioned is nothing but mortal illusion; that thereis but the unified whole.

Always you are One, you are All, as a centralizedpoint of Being. Undying, unchanging - the Conscious-

ness, Cause, and the Action - sy6lving, transmuting a

form to a unified state of awareness.From action to action you pass l ike a great shuttle

weaving new patterns - on the loom of Eternity weaving

^ pattern of beauty called Life. The fine silver thread

which you use is Cosmic Consciousness, binding together

each stitch in true l ines of perfection; creating in patient

evolvement the unif ied Love Mantle of All. Each thought

and each conscious emotion weaves the Pattern of exact

direction, in t ime uniting the parts and the Allness,

absorbing the All in the One.

T H E W O R D

In the beginning there was but the Word: no mortal

mind can know the Word in full for it contains all knowl-

edge and all Power, and only that which is Itself the

Word can know or understand potentially. But through a

mighty action the Word was imaged into primal form; in

form so fine that only Cause could know its attributes or

view its being. It incarnated through the whole of sub-

stance and impregnated all matter with Its presence ti l l in

the place of a tremendous void there grew the second or

the form-creation.Virgin was this creation in the image of the Word,

and filled with all the power of pure wholeness, for it was

but one great united form, the body of Cosmic Cause

whom we in reverence have called "The Word'"

Throughout all space the Word reverberated; It set in

motion all the Primal Essence until the whole span of

Infinity swayed to the Heart-beat of the Mighty Oneness.Rhythm on rhythm rose and fell in one great undividedharmony, for deep within the bosom of the Word theresurged the wondrous Love Song of Creation.

Greater and greater the Heart of Space was stirredunt i l at last the Song was breathed into a l iv ing thing.Each motion as an elemental tone within the mightysymphony and every tiny particle of substance was tunedinto accord with every other unit in all space. And thusthe impulse of Cosmic Will became a law that ne'er canbroken be within the scope of everlasting action. (ThisLaw involves the principle of true affinity. )

Were it possible for any of the Cosmic vibrations tounite contrary to this Primal Law and cause a discord inthe mighty paeon their span of such expression would becontained within one moment's quivering vibration, fordiscord cannot last within the Whole whose very fact ofbeing rests upon the immutable law of harmony. Thereis no loss of equil ibrium within the scope of CosmicRhythm that shall not be again absorbed and reunitedinto Wholeness. For nothing can break the Melody thathas forever throbbed within the Heart of That which is,ftself, Infinity.

Creation as a whole makes up the song that rises andfalls in its impassioned cadence, expressing in the gloryof calm Silence all that the Word has been, is, and shallbe; voicing with soundless sounds and formless beautythe pulsing force that blends and inter-blends into newrhythrns. The Breath of the All-Creative Intelligence issent forth in peaceful, silent tones of consciousness and

in the womb of i l l imitable space each new creation stirs

with quickened l ife and becomes another true note in the

endless Song of Act ion.Out of Cosmic Cause are worlds and planets whirled

into existence; out of such formless beauty has evolved

form upon form unti l at last there came one form so per-

fect in its geometric pattern that it possessed the possi-

bil i t ies of understanding Cause. And so into this form

was poured the Breath which speaks the rhythm of crea-

tion into being, and it was given power to perceivd all

existence; and it was also blessed with power to name

that which before had been but nameless.And this creation, highest of them all, was known as

Man, born out of That which has no ending; given

dominion, consciousness and love and power over all the

lesser things. But he descended into depths of sleep, be-

came unconscious of the vaster kingdoms, forgetful of

the Glory that exists and dreamed, instead, into existence,

the changing image of mortal i tY.oh, son of God and son of Man, l i f t up all things

within your sight; let your heart make known that which

the sight doth not reveal and from the womb of Cosmic

Cause which is the source of al l creat ion awaken into the

birth of a Magnificent Perception. Awaken into the realm

of true Being. Let the strong fingers of your wil l draw

you again inio full consciousness. Rise from your earthly

couch of slumber and perceive the beauty of your present

Existence.This Planet

affinity, the great magnetic principle of attraction, and allthat therein grows and multipl ies is of the one and onlyCosmic Power.

Each form that with our mortal eyes we view is but apoint of action in the whole - a minute bit of elementalsubstance moving to ever changing patterns and designs;impelled and impregnated with all-abiding consciousness.There is no tiniest unit in the Whole that does not bendan ear to the Law which Fathers it and causes it to be.And all that we perceive with mortal eyes and know withour consciousness is but the effective image of the CauseIntelligence, which formless is, yet causes forms to be;which knows no limitations and no bonds yet createstransient dense conditions that move and change withinthe bosom of incomprehensible Eternity.

And every unit in the whole of Being, each atom andeach spark of consciousness reveals without a mark oflimitation, if we but seek its heart, the perfect image ofInfinity. And each of the little passing points of actionwhich we in earthly terms have labelled time, speakwithin the moment of their being the fullness of Eternity.Just as the drop of water from the ocean reveals thecharacter of that from which it came; and every sunbeamtraveling through space reflects the composition of thesun and revibrates the image of that orb in all of the gloryof its full expression.

We, as children of the Cosmos, are in the process ofreflecting the understanding of our Source. All action isthe echo of the Word as It passes through the vast arcadesof space, and in lts passing creates time and form.

We must open our eyes of consciousness and view inall Its magnitude and beauty, the l iving, breathing image

of the Word.

T H E N A M E

The Word is changeless, whole and complete. The

Name personifies the Word - divides Its vastness into

many parts, gives place and form to each and every part

and power of utterance in an auditory state. The whirl ing

mass of substance called the Earth is to the mortal ears a

mighty name, for on its surface humankind evolves and

learns a tongue with which to speak the Name of That

which in Itself is nameless, yet Earth shall change and

pass away in Time, to reunite within the Cosmos. The

Word has always been, wil l always be, the Name has a

beginning and an ending.The Word has never given forth a Name and never

shall, for in such act would lose its endless and eternal

state of Being. But Man, to whom free-wil l and power

was given, who slumbers deep and dreams his mortal

dreams, has in his waking moments labelled action and

given name to consciousness and form. His eyes at f irst

were dim with mortal slumber; he saw but vaguely

through the mist of sleep, and only felt the coarsest of

frequencies that shaped the holy substance into form, but

those he named so he might build a memory of parts to

guide his future waking states, for only by such means

can he evolve to recognition of Cosmic Allness.

Lit t le by l i t t le man's awareness of that which he en-counters expands, and clearer grows his vision ti l l at lasthis conscious awareness beholds the transcendent Causebehind the Name.

Out of the Primal Essence has come forth, chargedwith the Power of the Word, the manifested utterance ofCause. The planets, worlds, the moon, the stars and suns,the leafing trees, the song bird and the rain, the beasts,the crawling repti les and the dew, each in its own tongueexpresses the Word. But man has given unto each a Nameand i t is there that his at tent ion l ies. Manifestat ion hasbecome his God and he has placed the Name above theWord, which nameless is and si lent and unseen yet causesal l the named things to be.

R E L A T I V I T Y

Matter manifests as an effect of the Cause impulsethat rises from the Word. As a pebble dropped in thecenter of a sti l l pool wil l send an impulse through thewhole clear mass and stir i ts farthest boundaries intomotion, so was the Primal Substance caused to vibrate bythe Cosmic Impulse. And as the nearest wavelets arefiner than those at the ult imate extreme so is the sub-stance close to the heart of Creation finer than that uponthe outer edge. Each impulse of the Word that has mani-fested in the realms of matter has evolved into its formedstate of being through a primal motion or centralizedimpulse, out of which grew a heavier motion, swell ing togreater perceptibil i ty. The primal frequency goes into

expansion without the smallest loss of energy.We know that in the pool of clearest water the first

wave that was started, in its passing, gave to the next itsforce and animation. And that, in turn, imparted addedmotion unto the following molecules of water. Withoutthe unity of the whole mass no particle could know theprimal action. The cosmos is l ike unto the pool from outwhose center flows the rhythmic m6tisn - it is the clearcalm sea of undivided consciousness upon whose surfacethere arises innumerable wavelets of vibration. Eachform, in turn, contains the same - beginning with onebasic impulse evolving to countless particles of motion,each one attuned unto the primal urge. Again, each tinycentral point of action is offspring of the Great Heart ofmotion. To the understanding of the mortal man thesecountless points of action are perceived as separate en-tit ies within the varied kingdoms. Upon the earth mangives the name of mineral unto the denser substance thathe sees; a l i tt le higher is the vegetable, and then therecomes the animal and fowl, which leads up to the con-sciousness of man who separates the Allness into partsand draws a l ine where no such l ine could be, for throughthe whole vastness of the Cosmos the Primal Impulse in-

carnates itself and as the ripple in the pool gave up itself

to create something greater, so does each manifested form

of each kingdom release itself into evolvement. The in-

nurnerable minerals give up their impulse to plant l i fe,

the plant, in turn, releases energy unto the higher con-

sciousness of f lesh. There is nothing that can l ive alone,

nor any spark of energy destroyed. All impulse l ives and

acts eternally, passing from form to form and in its pass-ing charges all substance with emotion and creates rippleson the Sea of Being.

substance is in the process of evolvement; conscious-ness, in the process of expression. up and down the vastscale the force moves rapidly into expression, touchingone particle of matter, then another - blending the twoor more into a chord of harmooy, just as the fingers of aman pluck music from the mute strings of his harp. Toproduce a perfect melody the strings must be set in mo-tion many, many times, making new tonal combinations- now soft and low, now rising to crescendo; one timein rapturous swinging rhythm, then changing to a l inger-ing minor key - all strings awaiting the touch that stirsthem to l i fe within the melody. Each string is vital to rhetotal Song.

So it is with the Song of Creation - gssh atom ofsubstance is used eternally, now making up a rose bushor a tree; now mingling within man, now in the beast:descending into form and then once more ascending toinvisibilt iy; expressing through fire, water, earth and air,and ether finer than man can know; from the coarse pul-sation that produces stone to a motion higher than thespeed of l ight; from radiation down into vibration andback again the Primal Essence moves. From the formlessinto densest matter and back again into the higher state,each atom relative unto all others, cooperating and ex-changing places.

Within the Cosmos there is no destruction but onlynewness by a ceaseless action; all substance changing and

transmuting but never for an instant's time witholding. In

an endless array of patterns and designs from formless

into formed in unfolding the wondrous picture of eternity.

There is no greater law than that of conscious action,

for upon it rests continuous Creation. Energy acting

upon itself gives birth to time and space, the relative ele-

ments of the Cosmos that cause conception of the state

called form. Each thing depends in part upon another and

may be traced back to a common source'

PERCEPTION AND CONCEPTION

"What man can conceive he can also achieve," hasbeen said, but between conception and achievement therelies a middle step which is perception. we are familiarwith the use of the word perception as used in relation toa faculty of receiving knowledge of external things by themedium of the senses. This same faculty may also be usedto alert the senses to a Cause Intell igence which is beyondits effective scope of perception. Conception is constantlytaking place within man; the conscious intell igence of thecosmos is eternally incarnating in matter, but unless thereis awareness on the part of the mortal sense mind thesethoughts are l iable to pass on without ever being recog-nized in the world of form. We know that thought is thebasis of human action and there are mil l ions of thoughtsthat pass over the highway of mind every duy, but manperceives approximately one thought out of every hun-dred which is conceived within his mind.

There are myriads of thoughts bombarding man'smind every second; some are personal, some are imper-sonal, many are beyond the conception of the averagesense mind. It is true that each thought that enters man'sbeing impresses itself upon the individual cells of hisbody but the mortal sense mind as a whole does not be-come aware of it. Conception while being of Cause doesnot raise man to the Cause state; it is perception which

through experience and only that which is perceived con-

that intelligence may be expressed. cosmic cause incar-

nates in matter whether thi mortal mind of man is con-

scious of it or not, but through perception of that action

the mortal expands in the RLta of growth. The mortal

sense mind, having divided itself from the Whole, must

the cosmos, have everythin! within us. If we perceive that

which is within us we url able to bring it into mani-

In our christian bible we find references to "Life Eter-

na l , , and thewaywernus t conduc tou r l i ves ino rde r t o

know, "the only true God," but the application as to just

how this is done is not explained. To know God theFather is to perceive Cosmic Cause. Conception has nolimitations for it is cosmic, and that which is conceivedcan also be perceived by the mortal mind so p€rception

knows no beginning or endingi its vastness is all- inclusive.Perception includes not only recognition but also

comprehension. We cannot fail to recognize the fact thatwe are sons of the Cosmic Father Principle and heirs to

all there is, but how many are there in this world who

have actually perceived what that sonship means?Lack of perception leads always to a lack of confi-

dence which prevents man going forward into greater

accomplishment. The man who fails to understand his

relationship with the whole is but a wanderer having no

purpose in l i fe. Lack of perception is the greatest of the

sins of omission; why should a man remain in ignorance

when all things l ie before him and the very fullness of l i fe

prevails within his being awaiting the command to come

forth.When an unselfish idea is conceived it is to be per-

ceived and brought forth into manifestation just as a soul

conceived in the womb of a mother is to be given birth in

physical form. Whatever one becomes aware of that is

not contrary to natural law must exist, for how can it be

possible to perceive that which is not existent?There is really very little difference between concep-

tion and perception; the former is the cause soul aware-

ness and the latter is mortal sense awareness, and the two

should be always united.

One of our noted scientists once said, "[ f ind oftt imesthat in the moments when I have ceased pondering overa problem the greatest revelations. come to me." Such rev-elat ion is t rue percept ion, for i t . is the t ime when the mor-tal sense mind and the cause intel l igence uni te. Suchawareness is cal led intui t ion, and the man who acts intui-t ively is always r ight. The mortal mind is usual ly unableto perceive the thoughts which are conceived from thecosmic source for it is in a constant state of fr iction andwonderment, lost in the percept ion of the innumerableforms of the effective world and so unaware of the newideas that are waiting for birth. It is necessary to perceivethe possibi l i t ies within anything before those potent ialsare able to become a reality in one's l i fe. True perceptiongoes beyond the apparent into the cause of the appear-ance, it goes into the invisible and brings newly conceivedideas into manifestation. Many people consciously per-ceive wonderful things but have not enough faith to bringthem forth. .

Learn to believe in your power of perceptioni giverecognition to those things of which you became awareand you wil l f ind yourself enjoying a feeling of happinessand wel l being. WHAT IS CONSCIOUSNESS?

The term consciousness seems to be the foundation ofal l creat ion. I t is not a physical th ing, yet i t measures al lexpressions of physical forms. Without it no form couldbe or exist for consciousness is l i fe itself. It is the powerwhich gathers the elements into the formed state and it isthe intell igent force which causes awareness and anima-tion within the form. Conscious awareness of the All-Inclusive consciousness is that tremendous power whichis referred to in the Scriptures as the Holy Ghost. It is adweller, as power, within that which is created, perpetu-ating the growth of the form by the constant action whichis the law of lt 's being.

The story of creation as recorded in Genesis says thatGod created man from the dust of the earth; out of theelements He molded a form in His image and l ikeness asa sculptor creates a beautiful statue out of clay. This Hedid with intell igence and power, and having looked uponHis completed form creation He was well pleased, so Heincarnated into the form as the Breath of Life and manbecame a conscious being, a l iving soul, having the powerof intell igent action, which we know as l i fe.

This intell igent force, then, is actually the CosmicWhole, for Its l imit of knowledge is no where. It is thecreator of everything that was, is, and wil l be. It is notonly the soul of man but the very soul of all things, the

Father-Mother principle of the Cosmos.As far as we know consciousness had no beginning

and wil l have no ending for it seems to be all in all, theAlpha and Omega, and is made up of the Tr ini ty; f i rst thepower; second, the intell igence; and third, the created

and the Word was with God and the Word is God.' What

is a word? Is it not a thought expressed? And does not

thought depend upon consciousness for it 's being? Then

we must admit that " in the beginning was consciousness

and the consciousness was with God and consciousness is

God." Out of consciousness, again, proceeded thought so

" in the beginning was thought and thought was with God

and thought is God." And thought becoming expressed

returns us in proper sequence to the Word which is with

God and is God. (Cosmic Cause) The incarnat ion of

these three through action brings forth manifestation

which is concrete real izat ion in form of that which exists

always in consciousness.Everything from the mineral to the Cause kingdom

is changed, moment by moment, by the everlasting activ-

ity of consciousness. It is the avenue of progress; the

stream of l i fe ladened with ideas which drop into the

consciousness of mortal man with great rapidity and

which may be used or discarded, depending upon the

understanding of the individual. Consciousness speaks

the language of ttt. Soul, for it is the Soul. This Cosmic

language is soundless, yet it roars with a voice of thunder,

reverberating with a tremendous force upon the mortal

form, producing a state of awareness as to the ideas that

l ie within him - ideas which only he himself knows un-less he expresses them in words, and which even then maynot be understood by another.

consciousness is the very substance of all forms, yetitself is formless. It is the ruler and keeper of all elementswhich compose it in the field of form-action, for throughthis intell igent force the elements which make the formbecome conscious. It builds form and disintegrates formsyet it knows neither l i fe nor death. It is motionless, yet itis the all-active power by which the cosmos is maintained;placeless, yet it is everywhere for outside of it there isnothing; inert yet composed of unlimited power.

The growth of earth and the growth of man is theactual evidence or testimonial of consciousness. Thought,itself, is composed of consciousness. All things of theheavens and the earth have been and wil l continue to beconceived in the womb of this mother-father principle.Man was born - into a physical form and wil l grow oldand perish while consciousness remains everlastinglyyoung in existence.

One's breath is measured by consciousness, and Hea-ven is but a man suspended between the Soul conscious-ness of Eternity and Man's consciousness of eartlr. It isthe mark or center of balance where the true understand-ing of the cosmos exists. Each conscious being is but afocal point of action within this great l imitless ocean ofintelligent force. There is no separation between any oneof these focal points of conscious action and the Whole-ness of consciousness.

The mater ial isthas exal ted matter into predominance and the metaphysi-c ian has given the supremacy to the mind, whi le con-sciousness has received scarcely a consideration. Therehave, of course, always been alerted minds in the worldwho understand the inseparable relat ionship of mind,matter and consciousness and have made use of th isknowledge in the f ie ld of pract ical evolvement, but theworld in general has chosen to remain in the mystery ofd iv is ions.

Science has done much in proving many things whichthe majority of the people of the world previously refusedto accept. I t has proven, for instance, that al l forms aremade up of cells which are composed of the same ele-ments as the earth, air and water. I t has revealed the factthat the human body is no difterent in composition thanany other form in the mineral , vegetable, or animal k ing-dom. of intense trembl ing throughout rhe form. I f the thoughtis changed to one of joy the body again responds andmatter is molded according to an entirely different pattern- the eyes glow with a soft l ight, the features are relaxed,and the whole form becomes one of simple grace, a sym-phony of harmonious act ion.

Mortal thought, however, is not the intell igence, it isbut an idea projected by consciousness. It acts as a mes-senger between the sender and the receiver just as an ideaconsciously projected into a microphone travels on themind of a radio ( the ether waves) to the receiver. Thegreat unlimited force of intell igence, which is conscious-ness, broadcasts a message in the form of thought; thismessage travels upon the highway of frequency calledmind and contacts every part of the body. Since everycell is the possessor of mind the idea impresses each ofthem at the same time and they as a whole give expres-sion through and upon the body. This is the same prin-ciple used in the operation of radio. Once the message isgiven over the microphone all space is affected since itcan be picked up anywhere by a good receiving set.Thought affects the whole of matter in the same manner.The radio frequency is carried on the waves of ether andis neither seen nor heard outside the studio unless itpasses through a receiving set. In this same way con-sciousness projects itself as an idea through space by aninstantaneous action affecting all space at one time andthe idea which is supported upon the waves of mind be-come manifest only after passing through the instrumentof matter. In other words, mind is the channel over which

ether waves are the channel over which we receive the

musical and orator ical expression of the consciousness

broadcast ing them.The sense mind personifies the impressions received

and distorts them with sel f opinions. I f the radio ethers

are disturbed we on the receiving set get the disturbance

cat led stat ic, which means that we cannot get the program

clear ly. This is also true with man, for when the mind of

man is disturbed that which is corfr ing from the broad-

casting station of consciousness is not revealed perfectly

and matter goes into act ion with a distorted concept ion

of i ts mission. The resul t is a state of confusion within thebody. Cosmic consciousness is never confused, i t is always

in a uni f ied state, so the harmonious manifestat ion of anic lea depends upon the st i l lness and impersonal at t i tude ofthe mind. A clear peaceful mind wi l l a lways br ing desir-able condit ions. A disturbed mind wi l l cause distortedcondi t ions.

This proves to us then, that mind is not al l there issince i t can be used one way or another. Evolut ion is notthe expression of mind but the expansion of mind. Just asan ungraded road is broadened and leveled in order toaccommodate more traf f ic upon i t , so must the highwayof mind be expanded and smoothed in order to al low con-sciousness to project more numerous vehicles of thoughtto their proper dest inat ion. Mind is only the channel ofexpression, the avenue by which consciousness manifestsi tsel f in matter. Body, mind and consciousness, then, areone and inseparable. The body of matter would cease to

exist if i t were not supported by consciousness. Con-sciousness could not express itself in matter were it notfor the conveyer over which it travels, and mind wouldbe a useless nothingness were it not acting as a channelbetween the two.

Remember, mind has the possibil i t ies of expansion.Matter, again, is in the process of evolution; so neithermind nor matter is all in all.

There has been, and is , widespread misunderstanding

regard ing the status and funct ion of the subconscious

mind. This lack of knowledge has caused many people

to get lost in myster ies which are of no value to human-

kind. There are books and teachings regarding the sub-ject, which we f ind by research to be wrong. We know

that the so-cal led conscious mind, which is the in te l lect

that we use dai ly to govern our normal act iv i t ies, is very

f ick le and weak. This mind receives impressions f rom thesenses and formulates i ts own opin ions and is subject touncer ta int ies, fear , or any emot ional change that comesi ts way. This mind g ives credi t to a sub-conscious mindwhich i t fee ls possesses memory of past events and agreater knowledge of th ings unknown to i tse l f .

the sense mind executes the impression perfectly, so thatit may partake of the experience of right action. Just as ateacher would tel l a chi ld to do something in a certainway and the chi ld did not do i t , but made a mistake, i f theteacher should al low the chi ld to go on that way, wouldit ever know the right way of doing that which it was toldto do? No. Therefore the teacher, in order that the childmay know the right way, insists that it be done over andover unt i l i t is done r ight and by so doing the chi ld hasthe practical experience of how it is done.

To bring ourselves into a broader state of consciousawareness we must transfer the controls from the sensemind to the Al l Knowing consciousness; and by so doingwe transform the body into its natural state. The con-scious thoughts that we entertain in our mind draws l ikecondit ions unto us. I f we wish to expand in consciousawareness of that which we really are we must place thepast condit ions which have already served us in theirproper place, and progress into the vast understanding ofa l imitless being.

Knowing what we are, we then have to hold fast tothat which we want and eliminate from the conscioussense mind that which we do not want. we are bound toget results if that which we want is the right thing for usto have at that t ime. otherwise we wil l get what we needat the proper t ime.

But man must have faith and confidence in the work-ings of the eternal law; if he has any doubt he wil l blockthe condition from appearing. A doubt as small as amustard seed wil l keep it from him, but should he have

MAN IS A FOUR SE,NSE BEING

One of the greatest bi ts of wisdom ever given to manby the outstanding phi losophers of al l ages is composedof two words: "Know thysel f ." That one assignment haskept the seekers of knowledge hard at work for bi l l ionsof years, and i t wi l l st i l l be a supreme admonit ion a bi l -l ion years hence. I t is an eternal study, for man himselfis eternal . In that one statement the phi losophers havetaken in the whole of the Cosmos.

The desire within al l men to understand themselves isincreasing tremendously. Theory upon theory has beenadvanced in the endeavor to throw some new l ight on thesubject. Of late years we have heard a great deal con-cerning the senseman, and the control of the senses as ameans of l iv ing above condit ions and environments, yetwe are st i l l struggl ing under a misconcept ion concerningthem.

We have looked upon ourselves as a five sense beingpossessing the at tr ibutes of s ight, hear ing, taste, smel l ,and feel ing or touch. We have dr i f ted along idly content-ing ourselves with this analysis of our makeup, but re-cent ly we have become qui te cur ious to know just howthese senses work and what they are. In our seeking wehave run our craft upon a rock. We have been unable toaccount for certain elements of action which we haveencountered in our dai ly l ives and so to rel ieve the tension

of this uncertainty some of our most learned theor ists

have endowed us with a sixth sense. To this added sense

has been attr ibuted al l the phenomena that have been

unexplainable in the f ive sense man. In fact there have

been those who have sought to add a seventh sense. The

mortal mind seems to have a faculty for complicating

that which is very simple and thereby creat ing confusion

instead of understanding.If you have accepted the theory of the sixth sense you

wi l l no doubt be surpr ised by the statement which I am

about to make, but as one of the great Chinese sages has

expressed it - "The truth that we least wish to hear is

that which i t would be to our advantage to know-"The purpose of th is lesson is to show you by means of

pract ical analysis that man is not the possessor of thefive senses but is actually a four sense being. This, werealize may be more difficult for you to accept than thebel ief in the sixth sense, for we as mortals can more easi lyaccept that which we feel adds to, rather than subtractsfrom that which we think we have. However, this sub-tract ion, as you wi l l f ind, is not in the nature of releasingsomething as a loss, but as the process of gaining some-thing much greater.

Let uS, therefore, analyze the sense man. You havebel ieved that man is endowed with f ive avenues of expres-sion - s ight, hear ing, taste, smel l and feel ing. Each ofthese attr ibutes is supposed to have the abi l i ty to act inde-pendent ly of the others. We can close our eyes and hear,taste and smel l . I t is possible to decipher between sweetand sour without hear ing, smel l ing or seeing the object in

question. we can certainly tell the difference between abi t of gar l ic and a rose without using the sense of s ight,sound or taste. So it is possible to prove that four of oursenses do work independent ly of each other. But now letus remove that which is known as the f i f th sense; let usdeprive man of feel ing. what is the immediare resul t? Theresul t is a state of unconsciousnessi the four other senseshave ceased to function, even though the organs of sensethemselves, are sti l l existing in the body. The eyes, nose,palate and ears are uninjured yet they do not see, smell,taste or hear. Apparently these senses cannot, then, workindependently of feeling. Does this not prove that feelingis not a sense, but the conscious power which gives sen-sation to the senses?

Each sense is able to operate independently of theother senses only so long as it is supported by the l i feforce of feeling, but the feeling or consciousness is en-tirely independent of the four senses. The sense of sight,taste, smell and hearing might all be destroyed and yet solong as the feeling remained man would be a conscious,active being, knowing joy and sorrow, peace and pain,and altogether very much alive. The feeling is indestruct-ible. It is the eternal, the everlasting intell igence. Thedestruction of the body cannot destroy the feeling, whichis consciousness. It is l ike the electricity which flowsthrough the wires to the bulb to produce l ight. I f the bulbis destroyed the electricity cannot produce l ight throughit , but the electr ic i ty is not destroyed. On the other hand,if the electricity is withdrawn it matters not how good thebulb may be, there wi l l be no l ight emanat ing from i t .

within the last few years the at tent ion of the world

of science has been attracted to the many cases of sus-

pended animat ion where the body remains for months in

a state of perfect preservat ion. The sense organs are

normal, yet they cease to funct ion in a conscious way.

Why? Because most of the feel ing has lef t the body;

approximately ninety-nine percent of the consciousness

hus lef t , and whi le one percent of feel ing within the body

keeps i t f rom dis integrat ing, th is is not enough to cause

any apparent awareness within i t . Many of these cases

have reentered into act ive l i fe. The feel ing had again

taken possession of the body and reanimated the inert

organs of sense producing in them a state of conscious

u*u..n.ss. I f understood r ight ly these four senses of man

correspond perfect ly to the four elements of creat ion, and

the so-cal led f i f th sense is the st imulus which imparts

to them the animat ion necessary to produce conscious

funct ion ing.ln other words this sense is merely the uni f icat ion of

the four senses with that unl imited conscious feel ing

which controls, Supports and animates every conceivable

thing in the universe. I t is the expansion of the four senses

in the channel of feel ing which makes of the mortal sense

man, a conscious user of conscious power. Through this

educat ion of the senses the sight becomes a microscopic

sight extending beyond the gross mater ial forms; the hear-

ing is expanded to catch the soundless sound frequencies,

them.The mor ta l may be l ikened to a v io l in , wh ich is the

Upon theviol in there are only four str ings; through the medium ofthose four str ings can the coarsest or the most celest ia lmelodies be played but the instrument is only a bi t ofwood and str ing unt i l i t is acted upon by a consciousintel l igent force. The sounds produced depend upon theski l l of the musician. The four senses in the instrumentcal led man are unable to br ing forth any expression of l i fewi thout the a id o f the A l l - lnc lus ive consc iousness whichis feel ing.

Feel ing is a state of alertness - when expressedimpe rsona l l y i t i s consc ious awareness o f consc iousconsciousness.

When that feel ing is no longer playing upon the sensesthey l ie inert l ike the muted str ings of the viol in af ter theconsciousness of the musician is withdrawn to anotherchannel of service.

In a televis ion program cal led "Front iers of Mind "the Bell Telephone Company presented an excelt.nt ,. i-entif ic demonstration of what touch is and how it reactsto electrical impulses. It showed that touch is not a senseorgan but acts as a telegraphic system via the nerves tothe brain. I t registers that which i t contacts and relaysthat react ion as electr ical impulses through the nervoussystem of the body. Touch is inseparable with feeling, forfeeling gives sensation to the nerves.

Science has now proven that the so-cal led f i f th senseshould not be classed with the other four.

ress. That is what many people are doing in their ef fort

towards moving in to the newness o f cosmic l i fe - t ry ing

to go forward in to the vastness o f Cause whi le c l ing ing to

It takes courage and faith to walk the road of prog-ress; the doubter wil l remain forever in the same old rut.He may turn his vision towards greater knowledge but itwil l remain forever a dream of mystery unless he releaseshimself f rom the spot upon which he stands and takes onestep forward.

What would this country be today if the pioneers whoset sail from lands across the sea had lost faith and cour-age and spent their days merely dreaming of the new landwhi le their ships remained anchored in the ports of theold world?

The thousands of scientif ic discoveries that have bene-f i ted humankind would be st i l l in the realms of Cause i fsome few men had not had the faith to bridge the gapbetween the known and the unknown and had the cour-age to take the first step upon the bridge. The manythings that we enjoy today may be laid to the credit of thefew who were courageous enough to move forward intonew realms of perception.

It is true that the step into the wholeness of l i fe carriesus into the unexplored but what would our existence be i fwe remained always in the world of the obvious? Delvinginto any subject takes us from stagnation to knowledgeand progress. I f we analyze fear we wil l f ind i t to be produced by a

state of wonder ing in regard to our suppor t and safety . In

most every case fear is focal ized about one'S personal

being or se l f - in terest . Most men look upon the act iv i t ies

of l i fe in the l ight of the ef fect that they wi l l have upon

themselves and those dear to them. They are l iv ing in the

consciousness of the effect ive world, depending upon

outer th ings for the i r suppor t , and the recogni t ion of the

is the sel f -centered state and fa i th is l iv ing the impersonal

How often quoted is the expression of the Christ, ..[f

ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed ye shall say tothis mountain, remove hence to yonder place, and it shallremove; and nothing shall be impossible to you." * Thisstatement has been used to show how little faith is neces-sary to bring forth manifestation. Notice, however, thatthe words are not "faith as great as a grain of mustardseed" but "faith as a grain of mustard seed." Not thequantity of faith but the quality of faith is called to notein this statement. Let us study the consciousness of themustard seed. Is it ever overcome with fear in regard toits personal existence? what causes it to grow? Is it notthe conscious impulse force within it which promotes itinto action? The seed knows nothing but this urge withinitself which causes it to expand, burst its shell and pro-ceed upward into the light. tt does not seek to resist thisforce of natural growth nor does it wonder if it is right toact in this manner. It acts unquestioningly according tothe law or principle of its purpose. It does not look toeffects - neither to man, to earth, water, or sun. It ex-pands into a mature bush because the forces within itcommand it into such growth.

At this point you will, of course, soy, "But the seedcould not grow without the support of the earth, air,water and sun." This is true, but as the seed obeys thecommand of the Cosmic or Cause intelligence all neces-sary elements unite to bring it forth. The seed is not com-

manded to push through the ground in the cold wintermonths nor does it seek to grow without that urge fromwithin. I t wai ts pat ient ly t i l l i t feels that the r ime forgrowth has come. What would happen if the seed ques-t ioned the urge to grow as man quest ions new ideas of abroader conception of l i fe that try to impress themselvesupon his mind? As the seed by not resist ing the urgegrows into a beautiful bush, so man, l ikewise, may beassured that i f an idea or desire ar ises that is impersonal,it is there for a purpose and if acted upon wil l producebeneficial results. A desire can be kept from manifestingonly through the eftort of the personal wil l in resistingaction. For the thought or desire is the actual Causewhich fathers the outward conditions.

The development of faith in man is the growth out ofthe personality into the impersonal expansion of aware-ness; from effect to the cause back of all effects.

There is no such thing as absolute unbelief; there isonly a growth from the lesser faith to the greater faith.As the teacher Zoroaster explained, "Evil is but un-ripened good." Likewise, fear is but undeveloped faith.Man has come from Cause Intell igence to the world ofeffects; his mortal sense mind lost the memory of CosmicCause and he is now in the process of reestablishing him-self; he is on his way back to oneness with the Principlewhere self ishness with all of its innumerable effects isdissolved. It is through the recognition and realization ofCause that faith is stabilized.

Why do we have perfect confidence that the sun wil lr ise each day? Have you ever known a man rising each

morning, hours before dawn, to sit wringing his hands in

tense anxiety over the prospect of eternal darkness? No,

we have no such fear, and the primal reason that we do

not doubt in this case is because the act ion of the suns and

planets is greater than our mortal mind can conceive and

therefore we leave such actions entirely in the hands of

the All-Knowing Principle which understands and per-

petrates all action. In this case we realize our personal

insufficiency and so do not concern ourselves by exerting

mortal effort in regard to it. We simply allow it to take

place.Do we worry that the rivers wil l start f lowing up hil l ,

or drop a weight and hold our breath that it might rise

again, or throw a ball into the air and doubt that it wil l

return to earth? No, for again we know the principlegoverning such action.

Our lack of fear is not due to our confidence in mat-ter but our inherent faith in the principle supporting andcontroll ing matter. I say inherent because Cosmic Causewhich produces faith is within every one. It is closer thanhands and feet and whether or not we as mortals openlyadmit its existence we do realize it or we would not beconscious, l iving beings.

It behooves us then to study Principle instead offocusing all of our attention upon the effects of Principle(source of origin). When we direct our attention towardsthat inner guiding force we become fully awake and feelthe inter-relationship of all life. There has never been atime when one released the personal ego to this innerforce that he has not seen some immediate result of

action; so as one becomes more f ully aware of his onenesswith the All-Intell igence his faith is increased and conse-quently his fear is decreased. Faith is the result of one'sunity with the Whole, and such unity cannot take placeunti l every thought of self ishness with its whole categoryof resultant fears steps aside and leaves the highwayof understanding free of barriers. So we may see 'that

absolute faith is not of easy attainment - i t must comethrough a gradual growth just as all things change by

degrees. Faith is actually an expansion of consciousawareness to include more knowledge and certainty ofact ion.

Thus spoke the christ, to whom Life had revealed hermysteries. This statement has been made the very founda-tion of religion, but Nicodemus of old, who asked of theMaster, "How shall this be? can a man enter the secondtime into his mother's womb?" t is not alone in his igno-rance of the second birth.

The Master said, "No man ascendeth up to heavenexcept he that came down from heaven, even the Son ofMan which is in heaven." f Meaning that the second birthis the conscious return into the original Cause state out ofwhich all things proceed into the world of form. Man hasdescended from Cosmic Cause and he has the privi lege toreturn again to that impersonal state of conscious aware-ness of Cosmic Cause. when he was born into the worldof form he became lost in the appearances of matter andno longer understood the vast Cosmos. He has given him-self over to the dictation of the senses and his mind isslow to accept the guidance of the soul. His understand-ing of the universe has become limited to the effectiveworld - his whole attention is given to the analysis ofform and he has been blinded to the cause back oi fo.rrr.so before he can come into his own original self, he will

have to be born again - born into the unlimited percep-tion of the All Intell igence. As the first birth has givenman an understanding of the form world like himself thesecond birth wil l expand his awareness of the unmani-fested Cause world. Man's duty now is to burst the bondsof ignorance - t6 emerge from the matrix of earth andperceive the vastness of Cosmic Cause.

The second birth does not necessitate the death of anyform of consciousness nor the death of the body; it neces-sitates only the uniting of the two phases of conscious-ness into the awareness of oneness. The second birthproduces unlimited awareness, unit ing heaven and earth.The sense consciousness and the all inclusive conscious-ness become equally balanced and man begins to learnabout the Cosmos.

Not until the teachers understand this can they saveanyone or themselves. Many scientists are closer to thesecond birth than is any so-called spiritual student. Oneof our greatest scientists made the remark, "When I amfatigued with mental effort and have ceased to ponderover a problem I find that is the time when the truth ofthe question is most clearly revealed to me." This is aglimpse of the second birth-v7hsn the mortal conscious-ness is released into the hands of the vast consciousnessthe veil of l imitation is rent asunder and truth is vividlyperceived.

It is man's duty to be a happy child in his Father'shouse, and to do this he will have to be aware of thehouse. He must be aware that he is now in the heaventhat he is seeking to enter and that within his form of self

EMOTIONAL BALANCE

As we all know there is a great unrest all over theworld. The conditions existing in the national, home, andpersonal l i fe all display quite clearly the loss of equi-l ibrium which now exists. Each individual feels the needfor security and the people of the earth are demandingsomething that wil l bring about more stable conditions.The desire for equality and balance and sorne feeling ofassurance have caused some people to return to thechurches and many to follow the teachers who profess toknow all of the answers concerning the new dispensation.Unfortunately there are extremely few individuals who

are equipped with this type of knowledge.We find that students who have studied under one

teacher or another are very confused and l iving in a state

of dissatisfaction concerning the world they must call

home. They are looking to the day when they wil l be

privi leged to become the inhabitant of another planet.

They can see no beauty in this woild, being conscious

only of the pain and misery which exists.Teacher and students have made the mistake of sep-

arating heaven and earth and so have been carried from

one false balance to another. The impersonal man wil l

unite heaven and earth; wil l incorporate idealism and

practicality; wil l bring the peace and beauty of the celes-

tial into the concrete materialism of the earth. Anyone

Al l wor lds in thecosmos are al ike in pr inciple and to one who l ives accord-ing to the Law there is no div is ion of perfect ion.

In Mat thew 5:34-35 is the admoni t ion aga ins t d iv i -s ion p la in ly g iven: "But I say unto you, Swear not a tal l ; nei ther by heaven; for i t is God's throne; nor by theearth; for i t is His footstool ; nei ther by Jerusalem; for i tis the ci ty of the great King."

Neither heaven, the place of cause, nor earth, theplace of effects, nor Jerusalem; symbolically used to rep-resent the earth 's inhabitants, can be cal led one greaterthan the other. These instruct ions were given against dis-cr iminat ing or cal l ing one part better than the whole.Heaven and earth are not two but one, each expressingthe other; man is no lesser for he is both, an integral partof the whole. Divis ions exist only in man's opinions whenhe cal ls one greater than the other, for in so doing he isjudging and sett ing himself above the Creator.

From the heavens comes the cause and power of cre-at ion and yet the earth, being the Father 's footstool , i t isthe foundat ion upon which He stands. So instead ofdesir ing to l ive elsewhere one shourd learn al l there is toknow concerning his present earth home and recognize i tas a garden of beaut i fu l , heavenly things, the actualgarden of the Father.

Innately every human feels an ideal l i fe that he is

seeking to f ind but each individual wants this heaven tobe according to his specif ications. Many groups havestarted with high ideals but when the personal opinionsprompted by the ego of some of its members have notbeen accepted the ideal was lost in the fog of emotionaldifterences.

The everlasting spark of l i fe which allows man toexpress as a form is never separated from Cosmic Cause;when man controls his mortal sense mind to think beyondapparent effects he begins to understand the purpose of

l i fe and gain a margin of emotional balance.The emotional force which rises in the mind when

one's will is crossed by another's is very destructive for it

draws the actor into a whirlpool of unbalanced action,

and he is blinded to reality.All that man is in reality - is the thought that he is

consciously aware of for the moment. Each moment fol-

lows the preceding moment and the key, if there be one'

is to keep constant vigil over our reactions so that the

next' thought wil l be one that we can enjoy entertaining

in our mental house.There is so much bickering over personal opinions,

and what does it profit man? Nothing, for it is a con-

sumer of t ime and enetgy.This does not mean that there

should not be an intell igent discussion about a subject but

when the mortal sense mind is quiet and receptive it can

see the picture clearlY.Emotional balance maintained under all conditions is

essential i f one wishes to have lasting happiness and good

health.

Enjoyable rewards wil l come tothose who are l iv ing according to the laws set in mot ionby Cause Intel l igence - giv ing honor to the Al l -Creat ivePrinciple of Life, and such honor does not incorporatethe character ist ics of emotional ism or sel f hypnot ism.

Religion and so-called spiritual teachings have not,in most cases,. brought t rue real izat ion to the heart ofhumanity. Some of these organizations practice ritualsand affirmations which produce a temporary intoxicationduring the performance of the rites but tend towards atremendous "let down" after the service has been com-pleted. Most of the indiv iduals at tending, upon returningto their worldly pursui ts revert to the old ways where thesurvival of the f i t test at t i tude takes over, and man con-t inues to take advantage of his brother instead of beinghis brother 's keeper. In the rel ig ious sanctuary the indi-v idual feels that he would help any one according to theirneeds and where hate had been, there arises an emotionthat is interpreted as love, but outside of the sanctuary

these emotional inf luences change, which proves that theywere nothing more or less than a form of hypnosis in-

duced by the service that he at tended.Is i t not t rue that when a hypnot ist wishes to put a

subject under his control he suggests something which he

Religion in the early days held the upper hand overthe masses through such actions as this. The Soul-seekingpopulace were thrown into a state of emotional hypnosiswhich made them an easy prey to the more clever indi-viduals who perpetrated such methods of worship.

Did you ever attend a camp-meeting where the par-ticipants threw themselves into such a high emotionalstate that they were finally hypnotized into performingthings they could never have done when in a normal stateof consciousness? After coming out of this emotionalspell they were asked if they knew what they had doneand the answer would be a negative one. All that theywere conscious of was the fact that the Holy Spirit hadthem under control. This proves that they were under animposed influence which deprived them of their power ofreasoning and wi l l .

Innu-merable individuals are testifying to healings but perma-nent healing or the regeneration of the body must beattained through an understanding of the conditions tobe dealt with, and the execution of all actions must be

The perverted wil l isthe cause of all mortal suffering but that suffering cannotbe permanently lessened by a mere suppression of thewi l l through any form of hypnosis. The wi l l and under-standing must be uni ted to produce a worthwhi le l i feof service and accompl ishment. One of the most ascr ibed methods of at taining phys-

ical and mental well-being is the development of the

abi l i ty to relax. Psychology, medical science, athletes,

etc., all acknowledge the beneficial results obtained when

the body is not tense, but the average indiv idual f inds i t

d i f f icul t to relax at wi l l 'I bel ieve that there is a misconcept ion regarding re-

laxat ion. I t is of ten thought of as a state of inert ia, and

people wi l l be heard to remark, "oh, I haven' t t ime to

relax; my work keeps me busy every minute." I f re laxa-

tion were truly understood such ones would realize that

there is of t t imes much greater relaxat ion in work than in

so-cal led per iods of rest . The law of nature demands pur-

poseful ai t ion and i f a person is intensely interested in his

work he is making of himself an open channel for the

free expression of energy which is always waiting to be

used. In other words, a person who has lost himself in

some part icular piece of work forgets to set up the usual

mortal resistance to free-flowing energy and so opens

himself automatical ly to i ts benef i ts '

lethargy which may be interpreted as relaxation but sucha condition is no more than the eftect produced by loss ofequilibrium which lowers the frequency of the body cellsand puts them in a state of partial coma. Such a conditionis to be avoided for it is actually destructive. Relaxationdoes not include the creation of a rnental vacuum or thecessation of action. It is the means by which the mortalconsciousness releases itself to the greater action of thecosmos and therefore should not and cannot produce adormant condition in any part of the body. If a personis not aware of a finer and more intense activity tak-ing place within his being he can assure himself thathe is not relaxed but has merely dropped into a state ofindifference.

A person may quiet the body through a form ofself-hypnosis, but this is not relaxation, for it destroys thefree action of the body elements. The body is composedof tiny cells in each of which there is a spark of potentialenergy capable of unlimited radiation. This spark ornucleus within each cell is the animating energy of thebody, but because the particles surrounding this centralforce are generally held in the tense state they act as bar-riers or resisters to the energy within. when this tensecondition is released the outer substance composing eachcell becomes receptive to the energy at its center and is setinto a higher frequency through the action of the inter-penetrating force.

Relaxation reduces the friction within the body byeliminating the resistance of one cell-form to another. Forinstance, if a large number of fish were placed in a very

smal l bowl there would be constant f r ict ion due to the

inevi table contact between them, and the act ion of each

would be retarded because of the congested conditionexist ing within the bowl; but i f these same f ish were re-

leased into a large pool they would swim about easi lywithout interference with one another. They would be in

a posi t ion to use the potent ial energy which they possess.

The cel ls in the body act in the same manner and i t is the

mortal sense mind which must release them for f ree exe-

cut ion of their purpose.The average indiv idual does not real ize how com-

pletely he is bound and l imited by his own opinions.

Tenseness is whol ly a condit ion caused by the personal

ego; posseSsiveness, greed, fear, Covetousness and self de-

sires al l produce a set and unyielding condit ion within the

body. The person who is of a very posi t ive nature f inds

relaxat ion a most di f f icul t accompl ishment, for relaxat ion

consists of releasement and non-resistance. I t is a natural

state of being which should be maintained at al l t imes but

cannot be held by one who is absorbed in sel f interest

The idea that one must become strenuous in outwardaction or must display an appearance of great personaleffort in order to accomplish outstanding things is a falsebelief. The person who reaches the greatest heights ofaccompl ishment is he who holds al l of his act ions in aserene and peaceful state, recognizing the fact that he isnot the instigator or projector of intell igence but only the

THE LANGUAGE OF THE COSMOS

In recent years there has been a greater trend towardsthe brotherhood of man than ever before in the historyof this civilization. The advent of radio, television, etc.,have united the world into a common relationship. Therehas been much discussion among the learned men ofevery nation regarding the possibility of formulating acommon language so that intercourse between peoples ofdifferent nations may be facilitated.

Although few men are aware of its existence there isa universal language - a language which includes notonly the expressions of man but that of every living thing;a language so simple that even a new-born babe canunderstand.

We have conceived the idea of a universal languageamong men because we are aware of being able to under-stand the human voice and have developed the habit ofexpecting the voice of man to interpret for our benefit thethought which passes through his mind, but we have notincluded in our efforts of unification any but the mankingdom. Why should this be so, for are the sounds whichmake up the various languages so different than those ofnature itself? As the different races of men speak withvarious sounds and combination of sounds; each form ofIife in this world does the same, yet we do not seek to

understand them. Man has l imited himself to one phase

of l i fe and has closed the door upon the vastness of the

Cosmos. This is due to the fact that he has given recogni-

t ion only to the mortal senses which gain their impres-

sions from outer things. He expects to hear only thoie

sounds that are coarse enough to affect the physical organ

of hearing and so he loses the abil i ty to interpret the

cosmic language as a whole. And what is th is cosmic

language? It is conscious feeling - the voice that speaks

through every form arid which, therefore, unites All into

an inseparable uni t . There is nothing in the cosmos that

cannot speak to man with the voice of conscious feel ing

and there is not one thing that cannot understand that

language. I t speaks as clear ly through the smal lest th ing

as it does through the greatest.You are related to everything in the cosmos. The

language of consciousness is spoken by all, and if you

wil l be continuously aware of this fact the time wil l come

when you wi l l understand every l iv ing thing. The leaves

upon the tfees, the chirp of the birds, the croak of the

fiog, the hum of the bees - all wil l speak to you and you

wi l l understand l i fe as i t manifests through each indi-

vidual channel. Every slightest sound wil l become a voice

no di f ferent than the voice of another human and you

shall partake of the consciousness of each thing that l ives'

If i t were not true that a universal language existshow is it possible to train anirnals to act according toman's command? Even a l i tt le insect l ike the flea cai betrained to perform perfectly. It is certainly not the humanvoice or the words spoken in French, English, Spanish orany other tongue that guides their actions; it is the voiceof conscious feeling which speaks more clearly than anyaudible word.

The language of the cosmos is the vibration or fre-quency of sound, of l ight and of thought. I t is al l onevoice _- the great voice of feeling. It speaks with deepreverberation in the thunder and it speaks in the silenceof our deepest repose.

Man's greatest power l ies in his recognition of thiscosmic language, for when he realizes that every tiniestatom is able to comprehend the language he speaks hewil l impersonally command with greater certainty and alllesser forms of l i fe wil l obey him. through the medium of sound, which is one of the lowervoices of consciousness, but let us now consider thought.Here we have taken a step higher for through this formof communication we have eliminated time and space.Through the medium of thought we are able to speak toanother although we are thousands of miles away and thecontact is made almost instantaneously. Through thismeans of transmitt ing a message we can contact anotherperson even though their body is in the state of sleep.Conscious thought is a messenger that works unhamperedby time, space or conditions.

I t has been said that such form of communicat ioncannot be relied upon but that is untrue. We are beingguided constantly by the voice of conscious thought,whether projected from a cosmic source or through a per-sonal channel. There is no man who is not to some extentaware of his power of intui t ion which is nothing more orless than the voice of consciousness.

When the Christ , made the statement, " f and theFather are one" He was professing absolute knowledge ofthe cosmic language, for the Father is AII and how couldthe Christ be one with al l unless he was able to enter intocommunion with i t and acknowledge his relat ionship to i t .

The Great Ones who have performed so-called mir-acles in the control l ing of elements could not have donethose things i f they had not understood the language offeel ing and real ized that every l iv ing thing also possessedthe same awareness. For instance,when a person is in a peaceful state of mind he can par-take of food and his body wi l l assimi late the mineralswithout the least opposing react ion, but eat a good mealand then take into the body a highly concentrated thoughtof hatred or fear - the react ion of the chemicals wi l lvery soon demand either the doctor or a good dose ofbicarbonate of soda. Fear, hate, sel f ishness, envy, etc. ,are elements which produce violent reactions when incor-porated with the chemical contents of the body. A fit ofanger, which is nothing more or less than a chemicalcombust ion, wi l l tear down the body structure to a sur-pr is ing degree and produce what is known as pain. I f thescient ist in his laboratory combines certain elements ac-cording to the law of af f in i ty and produces a harmoniousresul t he is rewarded, but i f he mixes the wrong chemicalshe may blow himself to bi ts. Just as logs placed upon af i re serve their purpose and their elements are changedbut not destroyed, the or iginal elements of any form areeternal . A place where water has been may become drybut the hydrogen and oxygen which compose the l iquidgo on forever and may at any t ime return into form. ANCIENT WISDOM OR MODERN PROGRESS?

There is some strange characteristic of the humanmind that seems to f ind a great satisfaction in glorifyingthe past. The Oriental has expressed this characteristicin his ancestor worship; the Occidental has always hadits hero-worship for deceased greatness; the patriarch ofall nationalit ies sits back in his easy chair and reminisceson "the good old days." Perhaps it is that t ime assuagesthe actual realit ies of the past and leaves only the colorfulpictures of self-created images. Perhaps it is that distantfields look greener on which ever side of us they lie, but,in any case, we find so many people l iving in the past thatwe wonder what good the present is doing at the presenttime.

Among many religious groups, and particularly thoseof an occult nature, we hear much about the great wisdomof the ancients. "If you expect to evolve to a state ofmasterful action," we are told, "you must go back andstudy the teachings of the old." It sounds a l i tt le twisted,doesn't i t? To evolve we must go back! But why? Evolu-tion is an expansion, a growth. Does the tree in its processof attaining maturity grow backwards into the roots? Ifi t did I am sure we would never taste its fruits.

I suppose no man ever appreciates the thing that hehas in his hand, and while it is right that he should reachout for something new let it be an advancement, not a

retrogression. Why dig up the peaceful past - i t has

served i ts purpose. I t brought us to the present day - let

i t rest . The works of the past cannot serve us now and so

far as the laws of the past are concerned we are now using

them. for there is in the whole cosmos only one. pr inciple

of ac t ion. I t i s used in the b i l l ions o f vary ing mani fes ta-

t ions but i tsel f never changes. The only way in which we

can prove the pr inciple is by the ef fects produced and

surely we are producing ef fects on a much vaster scale

than did the ancients. In those days i f a man discovered

something of use to humanity he was considered div ine

and his revelat ion a miracle. Today we have a new in-

vent ion a lmost da i ly and th ink noth ing o f i t ."We have not yet been able to discover the whole

greatness of the Ancient Wisdom," we are told. Wel l that

may be true, but I dare say i f a few of the ancients sud-

denly found themselves in one of our big c i t ies today they

would stand aghast at the miraculous works of our people.

They would probably assume that they had reached some

World reserved for especial ly advanced minds, and after

having l ived here for a whi le and try ing to adjust them-

selves to our present understanding would decide that

they were not of the elect and must have stumbled into

th is ama z ing P lace bY mis take.Why should we base our l i fe of today upon ancient

phi losophies? Should we enjoy going back to the ox-cart?

I am sure that a great percentage of the populat ion of the

world wogld starve with only ox-cart t ransportat ion '

the meager su.pply of mental food that is carr ied to them

on the slow-moving vehicle of ancient myth and r i tual .We are moving faster than we have ever done and we arecompel led to keep up with our exist ing state of progress.Our mental expansion must coincide with and supportour mechanical progress. Those who l ive too much in thepast ask why we are rushing and where we are going; -may I answer in this way, we do not need the aimlessrushing but we must keep pace with the fast movingevents of l i fe.

There are those who prophesy that th is c iv i l izat ion isnearing i ts destruct ion because of i ts lack of wisdom.Well perhaps, but what would it profit us to go back andstudy the wisdom of the ancients? You could say that theancient c iv i l izat ions did not heed the words of wisdomthat were given to them, and that is t rue. Lemuria, At lan-tea, Egypt and Rome, were all great civi l izations and theyare gone. This is a new day with new problems and thedoor to the Cosmic Storehouse of Wisdom and Knowledgeis wide open for each individual to enter. Our presentproblem is to maintain our balance; l iv ing in the worldof effects and understanding causes.

The Hindus have a saying to the effect that the morewood you pile on the campfire at night the greater be-comes the i l lumination but greater also becomes the circleof surrounding darkness. Our present wisdom l ike thelight of the campfire is great and the more we learn thegreater becomes our scope of perception regarding thepossibil i t ies we have not yet deciphered. The more knowl-edge we acquire the more we know how much there is yetto learn. Our f ield of perception has become so vast that

the encirc l ing darkness is almost appal l ing but the veryfact that we have such a vast perception of unproventhings means that they shal l one day be proven. We havehad the percept ion of ships travel ing through space toother planets and that day is not too far in the distancewhen this becomes a real i ty just as jets and airplanes arenow a common means of conveyance.

We hear a great deal about the alchemists of the earlydays - p3lscelsus, for instance, who was supposed tohave transmuted baser metals into gold. "Miraculous!"

the people say. Our scientists of today are able to producegold from other substances; but the process is too costlyto be of practical use.

The pr iests of the ancients were the only scient ists ofthat day and whatever they achieved was used for self ishpurposes of dominat ing character. I t is said that theycould prepare chemical substances which when used asincense would put an indiv idual into a trance state, butwhat benefit was actually derived from such practice? Nodoubt there was quite a bit of benefit to the priests, forwhile their subjects were under such a spell they could bevery easi ly rel ieved of al l of their possessions and the act

laid at the door of the most convenient gods.

Today our chemists make pract ical use of their knowl-

edge. They produce new metals to meet the needs of in-

creasing mechanical achievements and are harnessing the

forces of nature to facil i tate the turning of the wheels of

progress. They whom the religionists have called godless

men are today becoming the masters of the elements by

acknowledging that One Principle governs all things.

The work of scientific research carries one intosuch a vast conception of the universe that there is noroom for egotism, bigotry, fanaticism br intolerance. Theindividuals who really study creation are so absorbed inits unlimited activity that they become undiscriminating.They regard all men, whether they be black or white, asbrothers and grant them the right to believe according totheir abil i ty to understand. They are not bound uylhelimited concepts of cast or creed or dogma but are ahvaysopen to new revelations. They do not allow even thehuman form, itself, to block their path of research in thefield of knowledge, for they are willing to sacrifice theirown bodies for the benefit of other researchers and man-kind as a whole.

abstract scientists who work from cause to effect; not the

dogmatic orthodox ones who refuse to see beyond the

effective world.Perhaps I should explain why one and one equals

three in Nature's Creative Mathematics. When a positive

and a negative get together there is a manifestation; in

electricity it is light, with male and female it is an offspring

and so it is with all nature. In order to understand a mani-

I have recently reread the accounts of Lemuria andthe Triterian race, and will give them to you for whateverpoints of interest you may find in them. My friends fromother planets have told me that many of the people l ivingon their planet at present have l ived upon the earth.

In the cosmic book of memory, often referred to asthe Akashic Records, there l ies the story of action as ithas passed through mil leniums of t ime. The ever-activefingers of consciousness have inscribed upon the primalEssence of the Cosmos the indisputable and indestructiblepattern of all motion and manifestation. The history ofman as written upon the tablets of stone or upon parch-ment or paper is but a limited record of existence and iseasily lost to the knowledge of future generations, but theCosmic Record is a permanent structure and he who isable to read therefrom need have no missing pages in thehistory of life.

Out of the Book of Memory, which the scriprures tellyou shall be opened unto all, we have read the story ofLemuria, that mysterious land which sank beneath thedark waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Lemuria was a vast continent which included most ofthe islands of the Pacific - Hawaii, the Easter Islands,New 7*aland, the Philippines and other smaller islandgroups. These islands were at one time the highest moun-

universal force. They went about their duties in a peaceful

The Lemurians did not abuse or misuse theIaws of nature and while they were building up theirempire it was an actual heaven upon earth. But l ikepractically all civilizations they had their downfall intime. virtue became lost in greed and selfishness, andtowards the end of their existence they were no differentthan the present civilization. At last nature took a handand sunk the land beneath the waters of the pacific ocean.

The Golden Age of the Lemurians rasted for approxi-mately three thousand years. During this time they werein contact with Egypt and in fact all of the Asiatic coun-tries but it was not until the fourth of the thousand yearperiods that their country was invaded by self-seekingindividuals from other parts of the world. At that timethere were people who came from the territory that is nowknown as Greece and Rome and settled in Lemuria.These people were of the lighter races; they won the con-fidence of the Lemurians, intermarried with them andgradually perverted the pure thought of the happy people.This foreign element slowly took upon themselves therulership of Lemuria. They were hard, fearful rulers andgreedy for wealth and power. They began to show favor-

thought of inequality. Where the people had once served

each other for the love of action they were now forced toserve to enrich and empower the few. They learned the

meaning of rebell ion and self ishness and greed those

things which had never before found place among them.

They learned to follow the example of their rulers and

work for self instead of the All. They closed themselves

to the guidance of their creator and turned into the mor-

tal channel of expression.This went on for several hundred years unti l at last

the forces of nature demanded payment for their unbal-

anced conditions - the payment of suffering. They were

given warnings of their future destruction if they contin-

ued in their unbalanced state but they heeded them not,

so the elements turned against them. The earth became

unsteady beneath their feet; t idal waves swept their shores

and eventually a steady trembling took hold of the entire

Lemurian country. For approximately seven months the

earthquakes continued and gradually the land began to

sink. The waters rushed in and covered the one-time

Heavenly kingdom and another civi l ization was lost."

The earthquakes and the sinking of the continent

were due to natural causes. A shift or change of the sur-

face of the earth comes at certain intervals, but the people

of Lemuria had become so emersed in the mortal world

of effects that they paid no attention to the warnings given

by nature. Had they been alerted to these signs they

could have moved to safer territory.In the bible of every race there is an account of

This civilization was called the Triterian race andfrom the memory of those people rose the Triton God ofthe early Greeks. This Grecian god was pictured as harfman and half fish, symbolically corresponding with thecosmic record which speaks of the iriterions as the"people of the waves." They were not, of course, halfman and half fish but they were the masters of both thewaters and the earth.

Idealists have ofttimes visualized the perfect man asan etheric being who dwelt only in the planes of celestialglory and had powers to overcome the laws of nature, butwe find the Triterians to be dwelling on the earth inphysical bodies and cooperating fully with the laws ofnature.

festations. They were sent to this solar system to partakeof the knowledge of matter and this they did under theguidance of Cause Intell igence. This was easy for them todo for they were aware of the natural laws governing allaction and they were wise enough to use their knowledgewithout perversion. The Law of Affinity held no mysteryfor these people and the elements obeyed their commandsto the fullest. The earth was a perfect expression ofEdenic beauty.

The Triterians had no religion as it is accepted today- they were a race of scientists, for they worked not onsupposition or myth but on facts. They had no gods butrecognized the all-intelligent force and themselves asexpressers of it. They did not make the mistake of allow-ing their mortal mind to judge the creator for they under-stood cause and effect. They gave no thought to anydivision between themselves and the cosmic consciousness;they acted with a freedom and assurance of results. There-fore l i fe was peaceful and harmonious. They were notbound by gods or devils for their only state of awarenesswas that of interblended action. They recognized thenecessity of duality in creation but they did not separatethe force into good and evil.

There are no descendants of the Triterians, for theyserved their destined time on this planet earth and weretransferred by space craft to another solar system. Thisis the race which dwelt upon the earth prior fothe Bibricatrecords. The fall of man was not brought about until theadvent of the Lemurian race. The Triteiians reft the earthin a virgin state and went on for greater service, but allof the races who folrowed them aie stiil endeavoring toregain their cosmic birthright. THE PARABLE OF THE APPLE TREE

It was a warm evening, the discussion which for mewas all absorbing overshadowed the beauty of the night,as we relaxed in a patio in suburban Los Angeles.

Firkon and another gentleman had brought me to thehome of some of their people who are living here.

Firkon addressing me said, "We had planned to haveyou meet the One you call the Master, who we call theWise One, but as those plans were not possible to carrythrough, He asked me to give you this parable to beshared with the people.

"The apple tree lends itself very nicely as a symbol ofcreation and re-creation. The tree as a parent for theapple started from a seed within whose heart was thecosmic urge to express.

"From the bosom of mother earth the seed grows to abeautiful and productive tree expressing its full potentialin bringing forth fruit. According to the seasonq tendernew leaves grow into maturity, delicate blossoms proudlydisplay their color and fragrance attracting pollen andthe elements required for the growth of the individualapples. Slowly the blossoms release their beauty that thefruit bearing the re-creative seed may fulf i l l i ts purpose.
