See the 50th Daytona 500 on a 50-in Plasma! Rejoice! The long Winter of sleep-inducing NFL and NBA games played by over-paid primadonnas on steroids is nearly over. It's almost time for Sandy and Hib's Fifth Occasional Daytona Party. This CCSB event, on Sunday, 17 February, cele-brates the 50th running of the Daytona 500 and begins the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup series. Big news at the '08 Daytona Party Tony Stewart driving a Toyota Dale Earnhardt Jr. not driving a car owned by the team his Father started. Sandy and HIb replacing their blurry, small-screen, CRT television with a gynor-mous, 50-in Panasonic plasma. Big questions for the '08 Sprint Cup season Can Toyota win a Cup race? Will Jimmie Johnson in the #48 Lowes Chevrolet dominate...again? Will Dale Jr. in the #88 Mountain Dew Chevrolet finally perform to the level of his popularity? For Cup hardcores, the Daytona Party starts at 10:00 AM. We'll be serving the traditional "continental brunch" of coffee, donuts, bagels and mimosas while we watch "NASCAR Raceday" on Speed. Hi-def race coverage begins on FOX at 11:00 AM. The race starts at approximately 12:30 PM. Once the race starts, during commercials, Sandy will run her famed "Blind Beer Challenge". There will also be a "Sprint Cup Trivia" contest. There will be prizes for the top beer and trivia experts. If there are enough people present, we'll, also, run the Daytona Pool. During the afternoon, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, Coke and Pepsi will be served. Those preferring a menu other than that should bring something to eat, however, the Daytona Party is not a pot luck event so, if you're happy with bur-gers, dogs and soft drinks; don't feel like you must bring a dish. Date: 17 February Party start: 10:00 AM Race start: 12:30 PM Party location: Sandy and Hib's at 228 San Napoli Drive, Goleta. Directions: take 101 North, exit at Glenn Annie/Storke Rd. Continue straight across Glenn Annie onto Calle Real. Keep going, past the 7-11, around a sweep-ing corner then turn right on Salisbury. Turn left on San Napoli. Sandy's is the third house on the right. Need more information? Call Sandy at 968-2593 or email her at tazmom13 @cox.net.

Come join us for some great Cor-vette roads, mountain scenery, and hopefully spring wild flowers. Nothing is set in concrete yet, but the tentative plan is to meet at Star-bucks in the Casitas Pass shopping center midmorning on Saturday, May 3
rd for a short drivers meeting. From there, we will take Hwy 150 past Lake Casitas and head up Hwy 33 toward Maricopa. We will stop for a short break at Wheeler’s Gorge campground. For those of you who would like to pick up the pace, after the break would be a good time to do so.
You will have maps and you know where and what time lunch is. Please let me know at the break if you intend to head off on your own. For the rest of us, the pace will be leisurely up Hwy 33, over the sum-mit, down into Cuyama Valley to Hwy 166. We will turn right on Hwy 166 for a short while to Cerro No-roeste Rd. At Cerro Noroeste, we will turn right and head toward the Pine Mountain Club. Hopefully, the hillsides and meadows on this stretch of road will be loaded with wild flowers for our viewing pleas-ure. We should arrive at the Pine Mountain Bistro about noon for lunch. After lunch, we may head over to Lockwood Valley and back over Hwy 33 and home. I will pass around a sign up sheet starting at the March meeting. I plan to pre-view this run sometime in the near future, so please check back from time to time for updates.
