Imagine for design #1 page 1

• Our materials are sand,Cotten balls and foam.

• We need 1 unit of sand,1 unit of foam, and 1 unit of Cotten balls.

• The advantage of this idea is that the sunlight will go to the sand on the bottom of the box and heat up the sand and the sand will heat the box up.

• The disadvantage of this idea is that if the materials over heat then the materials will burn.

Imagine design #1 page 2

• Are materials are sand, and foil.

• We need 2 units for foil, and 1 unit for sand.

• The advantage of this idea is that the sand, and the foil will heat up the box,and we will get a higher score.

• The disadvantage is that the foil will burn up and not work any more,or burn the box.

Create • 56.0°c - 55.0°c=1.0°c so

our heat score is 1.0°c

• It took our solar oven 4 minutes so our time score is 4 minutes

• Our total impact score is 4 points.

• Our total score for the solar oven is 1 point.

Improve• The total score for are first solar oven was

1 point.

• The parts of our solar oven design that did not work well where the foam did not work as well as,and the cotton balls did not work well either because the light didn't really attract to those materials.

• The parts of our solar oven design that did work well where the sand because the sun heated up the sand and that heated up the box.

• We are going to try to improve our heat score .

• We are going to improve the heat score by putting aluminum around the sides of the box.

Creat for design #2• Our heat score is our solar oven maximum

temperature subtract from the control oven 99-53=46

• Our time score is the number of minutes it took to cool down witch was 10 minutes

• Our total impact score was 5 points

• Our total score for the solar oven is 46+10-5=51 so our total is 51

Reflection • Our improved design worked well cause our

temperature went up and that's good that means that we got better insulators. Our materials we changed were we took out the foam and added aluminum foil and took out the cotton balls. The materials worked well because we got a higher score then we did the first time.

• If we could improve again we would put shredded felt in the box because it would make the box hotter. Shredded materials makes the box hotter because it takes up more space.
