Based on the feedback that we received from last year’s

event, the Middle East oil and gas operators continueto spend millions of dollars detecting and combatingcorrosion. These numbers are especially on the rise as manyoperative fields are not only reaching maturity, but operatorsare also chasing new oil in high sour, high pressure and oftenhigh temperature reservoirs giving way for new challenges. Therefore operators are now realising the need foralternative corrosion detection, monitoring and preventiontechniques as well as asset rehabilitation methods.

With this in mind, many operators have begun amendingimprovements to their current corrosion mitigationtechniques in order to tailor their functionality andeffectiveness towards their specific needs. Others have

begun looking at new and improved technologies fromstate-of-the-art detection and monitoring tools tocustom-made pressure vessels, pipeline coatings andchemical inhibitors.

After speaking to over 70 corrosion experts, the8th Annual Corrosion Management Summit is built asa platform to brainstorm, discuss and analyse the latestadvancements to mitigate corrosion in the oil and gasindustry. Seeking advice from experts, this agenda has beenshaped to sync with the pulse of the industry. The challengesyou as a corrosion professional face is exactly what will belooked into by the presenters. The 8th edition will unveilpractical case studies, experiences and solutions to

    combat corrosion.

With presentations from both the upstream and thedownstream sectors, this conference has been designedto make your time out of the office completely beneficial.Take note of the tailor made registration package comprisingof the two day workshop and two day conference.

Also remember to book early and save dollars. Ask yourHR to contact us straightaway to avail the privilegeregistration package.

    Warm regards

    9:00 - 12:00

Corrosion/Metallurgical Degradation of static equipment and its mitigation

Static mechanical equipment such as valves, separators, tanks, vessels and pipelines have undergone inherent degradation due to aging, corrosion,

and erosion. Often the degradation rates vary over the lifetime due to changes in the produced oil and gas well stream (e.g. changes in CO2, H2S,

    water or sand content).

Led by an industry leader, this workshop will discuss a model inspection planning to reduce costs and to increase efficiency of inspection planning.

    Benefits of attending:

Identify current practices of Risk Based Inspections (RBI) and In-Service Inspections (ISI) of static mechanical equipment

Identify if the frequent job-changing of inspection planners affect the technical integrity of a particular production plant

Analyse how the quality of historical inspection data affects the inspection results and quality

Develop a method to calculate optimum inspection volume based on budgetary restrictions and the “health” of static equipment

Develop a model to mechanise the inspection planning process to reduce impact of the human element and the quality of data from different sources

Workshop Leader: Mahendra Kumar Rastogi, Vice President Inspection & Reliability, Bharat Oman Refineries

    13:00 - 15:00

Understanding the soft side of corrosion management and its success

Every oil and gas operating company should develop and execute a proactive Corrosion Management Programme (CMP) to include engineering materialselection as well as, corrosion control and monitoring throughout the life cycle of the plant. The CMP, which should be an integrated part of the strategicframework of any operating company will continually asses and improve personnel safety, plant reliability, and competent performance to secure

    uninterrupted production without environmental impact.

Led by an industry expert this workshop will cover the following imperatives for a Corrosion Management Programme (CMP) and will include:

EHS & corporate brand   Global & national economics   Operation costs   Talent challenges

    CMP changes talent mind set:

Processes versus “activities”   Challenges versus “business as usual”   Solutions versus “complaints”

Costs versus “impressions”   Competence versus “best effort”

    9:00 - 12:00

Downhole casing corrosion monitoring and interpretation techniques to evaluatecorrosion in multiple casing strings

Casing corrosion monitoring and interpretation have advanced dramatically in the past few years. New technological developments now make it possibleto carry out borehole measurements capable of distinguishing between corrosion of inner and outer casino strings and of detecting pits and holes in the

    casing metal.

Led by an industry expert, this workshop will review new developments in monitoring the corrosion of downhole casings. The workshop leader willdiscuss the procedure that outlines techniques for estimating metal losses, corrosion rates, and detection of holes in single and multiple casing string.

Workshop Leader: Paul Rostron, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, The Petroleum Institute

    13:00 - 15:00

Pipeline integrity through coatings to mitigate corrosion

Enhanced corrosion resistance and durability through the use of coatings play a significant role in the durability of pipelines and structures and alsoprovide aspects of enhanced corrosion mitigation.

Led by an industry expert this workshop will focus on how applications of coatings can improve performance of pipes. It will also review pipeline

coating systems to mitigate corrosion from an operators perspective. It will also discuss the challenges related to electrical interference (AC and DC)and CP shielding and address the difficulties of selecting field joint coatings with similar performance to the newer mainline coating systems.

    Topics include:

Basic definition of an integrity approach   Description of different types of coatingss

Case studies showing how integrity improves the durability and life of the pipelines

Selection of coatings for highly aggressive environments with the focus on maintenance and monitoring aspects

    CMP changes talent mind set:

The most appropriate methodology for coating selection   Coating durability and procedure for maintenance   Health monitoring of coatings

Workshop Leader: Anand S Khanna, Professor (Corrosion Science and Engg.), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)
