Well Done Kindergarten!
Our wonderful new Kindergarten students are se ng a cracking
pace! They have really se led into ‘big school’ life. Thank you to the
many Kindy families who were able to make it to our Meet&Greet on
Monday a ernoon. I hope you found the session valuable. My
sincere thanks to Mrs Brown, Mrs Yewen, Mrs Bexterman and Mrs
Jackson for providing our Kindys with such a well‐prepared, fun
introduc on to school. Well done ladies!
Well done to everyone who par cipated in the Swimming Carnival
yesterday. I know I was only there for a short me, but it looked like
so much fun (the water was very temp ng!) I loved hearing the very
loud cheers of encouragement: we certainly have a special school!
Well done everyone on a great start to 2018. As I walk around the
school I see se led classrooms, engaged learners and lots of laughs
and fun!

2018 Office Assistants
At our special Assembly on Wednesday morning, we inducted Kalob Hilton, Tempaney‐Rose Woon, Hoang
Nguyen and Lewis McLennan as our inaugural Office Assistants. This is a new role at our school keeping Mr Darcey on
his toes! (among lots of other ‘office’ jobs to help the smooth running of our school)
Notes & Newsle ers
The weekly CEPS Newsle er is now
produced on a Friday. If you do not
wish to receive a hard‐copy of the
Newsle er (because you receive it via
Skoolbag, Facebook or School Website)
please ensure you have returned the
no fica on slip sent home last Friday.
For the convenience of parents, this
year all notes will ONLY be sent home
on a Wednesday and Friday. Checking
school bags on these days is most
important! From me‐to‐ me notes
will need to be sent home outside of
these days but we will try hard to s ck
to this arrangement.
Please download the App if you have
not already done so! This is our
primary means of communica on with
our community.
Food & Drink at School
As is custom at most NSWDoE schools, we ask that students are not sent to school with any food that contains nuts
(this includes peanut bu er & Nutella). Some students are highly allergic to nuts and nut products and our aim is to
ensure safety for all. Thank you for your understanding.
It is important that every student is sent to school each day with adequate amounts of food and drink/s to sustain
him/her for an ac ve day at school. We con nue to have Crunch&Sip at our school so students need to have water
and chopped fresh fruit or vegetables in a separate container every day!
Please visit h p://www.crunchandsip.com.au/ for more informa on.
Posi ve Behaviour for Learning
Your son or daughter may have come home and talked about Clint Eas e? We have launched our Posi ve Behaviour for Learning (PBL) for 2018 and Clint Eas e is our mascot! PBL is included in our 2018‐2020 School Plan and we are very excited to launch this NSWDoE ini a ve at our school this year. Over the next few pages, we have included snippets of our new NSWDoE Student Welfare Policy Implementa on for your reference. You will note (if you were at CEPS last year) that there are numerous changes to our award prac ces. Miss Munro (our PBL Leader) and I will be discussing our new procedures at our P&C mee ng next Tuesday evening.
Respect Safety Excellence
These values are devised to directly link in with our school values each week. We will focus on a specific school value and introduce this to the children at assembly each Monday morning. The value of the week system provides clear step by step instruc ons in learning how to manage many day to day issues that impact on us all. Such behaviour responses include coping with anger, disappointment, frustra on, asking ques ons, saying thank you etc. Teachers will be introducing these skills explicitly each week to the students in their classes. The students will have the opportunity to par cipate in role‐plays and discuss their thoughts on ways they can transfer these skills into everyday life. They will be strongly encouraged to generalise their skills into the playground and at home. Beside is a roster of what the whole school will explicitly focus on for each week of this term. Teachers will also remind the students during class
me and throughout the week at lines. Parents are reminded to spend some me each week discussing the ‘value of the week’ with their child. This process is not intended to be onerous but rather clear, concise and specific. This is intended to provide a connec on to the value award presented at the end of each week and encourage the students to develop a sense of responsibility for their own social, academic and emo onal development.

Entry & Exit from CEPS
Parents are reminded that the small pedestrian gates located on Duff Parade and Pioneer Road are the only entry and
exit points from our school. No one should be using the carpark entry gates nor the bo om driveway gates. We wish
to ensure the safety of our en re school community. Please help us by adhering to these regula ons.
The Pioneer Rd gate is locked each day by 9:30am. During the day, the Duff Pde gate is the only entry point. In the
a ernoons, the duty teacher will walk all students using Pioneer Rd to the gate and ensure they safely cross the road. If
a child’s pick‐up is running late, a phone call to the office is essen al. Students are to wait for their pick‐up on the
admin veranda. We wish to ensure the safety and welfare of every child at our school!
Labelling Belongings
Parents are reminded that every item your child brings to school including lunch boxes, drink bo les, hats etc need to
be clearly labelled with his/her name, this includes Stage 3 students! This really helps us in safely returning any
misplaced items to the correct owner.
2018 Library Days
Each class at CEPS has an alloca on of 1 hour per week in our lovely school Library with Mrs Taylor or Miss Sobiesiak.
Please ensure your child/ren has his/her library bag each week so that they can reborrow from the library. Library

CEPS School Uniform
Our school community is very proud of our school uniform. Our students look fantas c when everyone is in
correct uniform. Parents are asked to please ensure their child/ren come to school each day dressed in full
school uniform, this includes the school hat and black shoes. If for some reason your child can not wear the
school uniform one day, please ensure you write a note to be handed to the class teacher so that he/she is
aware of the situa on. Our school enforces No Hat=COLA Play which means if a child does not have a school
hat, they are to play under the hall COLA area.
This term students are to wear their Sports Uniform on Tuesdays & Fridays.
