Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School
WelcomeBy the end of the presentation I hope you will know……
how to express a primary school preference
a little bit more about our school
what others have said about our school
When children start school?
If your child was born between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012, they will be able to start school in September 2016.
The responsibility for registering a child for school remains solely with the parent/carer
By now - Birmingham Local Authority should have made contact regarding how to start you child at school
The application time-line
4 December 2015 – strongly advised to have applied online or completed the preference forms returned to the School Admissions and Pupil Placement Service.
15 January 2016 - The final closing date for applications. You should have had your preference acknowledged in writing by this date. If not then contact them.
18 -19 April 2016 – Parents informed of the school place offered. 3 May 2016 – Parents must accept or reject the school place or risk
losing the offer. 17 May 2016 – The closing date for any appeals By July 2016 – School induction will have taken place By September 2016 – Your child will have start their reception year.
On-line applications
You can complete your Birmingham Local Authority Preference Form online atwww.birmingham.gov.uk/schooladmissions
Paper copy of the form available from “Children’s Information and Advice Service”
If you live outside Birmingham, you must apply to the local authority in which you live (i.e. the local authority to which you pay your council tax) using their online application system or preference form.
You can include Birmingham schools on that form
Completing the form
Complete ALL sections of the Preference Form Name up to three different schools Include any schools in other local authorities Rank your three preferences Include details of any siblings in attendance in September 2016 Include any faith details Complete an additional or supplementary information form. Once you have submitted you will not be allowed to change
without a genuine reason, for example if you move house. Do not submit your preferences both online and on paper
How are places decided?
You are then offered a place at the highest ranked school of your choice
If you are unhappy about the place that you are offered then there is an appeals process that can be used to ask a school to reconsider – details of how to do this are contained within the book
Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School is a two form entry school that can admit up to 60 children at the beginning of each academic year.
Corpus Christi School is, above all a Catholic school. We educate children from four, right up to their eleventh year. We aim to provide a caring environment where your child's spiritual, moral, emotional, physical and of course their academic abilities can blossom.
Our School
Our mission statement sums up the balance between aspiration, faith and achievement that is at the heart of all we do.
Our Mission Statement

Helped to understand the world in which they live. Receive a balanced curriculum that prepares them for
life and future learning. Respectful of all people, races and traditions Appreciative of the need for co-operation between
individuals, groups and nations Developing healthy, enquiring minds enabling them to
argue rationally, to question and to apply themselves to academic and physical skills.
Encouraged to have confidence in their own ability and perseverance that ability in practical situations.
Corpus Christi School recognises that achievement means working in partnership with the home and parish. We strive to involve and support parents as partners in all stages of their child’s education.

School Assemblies
There is from time to time special class assembly’s that “show and tell” what the children have been studying or sessions where we practically explain parts of the curriculum. Parents are always welcome at these and are notified through the school newsletter.
On Friday afternoons at 2.30PM we have our 'Gold Book' assembly. Here we celebrate children’s success both inside and outside of school, congratulating children who have worked really hard and we also celebrate all children’s birthday’s over the last week so they know they are special. Parents are once again very welcome. This assembly is held in the parish church.
Parents are often invited into school.
School Masses
On a Thursday morning at a quarter past nine Father Paul or Father Michael celebrates Mass for us in either the parish church or school Hall. The masses are prepared by different classes and are very special celebrations in the life of the school community. Again we notify parents through the newsletter and welcome and encourage all parents to celebrate with us.
