• City retrofit of 8 of largest buildings so far: Lighting, Solar Water

Heaters & Photo Voltaic, HVAC and thermostat control etc.

• More efficient street & traffic lights.

• Saving City over R20 million per year.

City is leading by example

• City’s first subsidised housing project fitted with locally-produced

solar panel lighting- Belhar-Pentech to house 340 families. <100

EPWP jobs will be created during construction.

• City to convert landfill gasses into energy, and has successfully

registered its programme of activities with UNFCCC to earn

carbon credits. Umbrella for registering other SA projects too.
