We provide high quality, responsive palliative care and bereavement support across Hastings and Rother and work collaboratively with others to improve end
of life care for all.
Being told you have a life-limiting illness can bring great anxiety and a sense of loss of control. Through the provision of palliative care services we help to relieve the pain and discomfort of patients, while promoting flexibility and choice for individuals and their families at a worrying time. Our range of services means we can offer a package of support that can vary according to the changing needs of the individual.
Having an advanced illness can raise all sorts of practical, physical, spiritual and emotional issues, which affect not only the patient, but their family and friends too.
Since we opened in 1987 we have cared for more than 12,500 people with life-limiting illnesses throughout Hastings and Rother, through a number of different services including; In-Patient Unit, Hospice at Home, Night Sitting, Day Services and Bereavement Services.
The cost of running the Hospice and providing the full range of services to our patients is over £6million a year. With around one third of this being provided by the NHS we need to raise the balance, circa £4.3million, over £12,000 per day, from voluntary sources.

been here 10 days now and not one day was spent in sadness” Patient

Event sponsorship opportunities
Sponsoring one of our many events is a fantastic way for your organisation to support St Michael’s Hospice. Thousands of people of all ages take part in our events each year with many more hearing all about them through various media channels.
Our events range from small to large - and even enormous in the case of last year’s hugely successful Colour The Coast! As well as bringing exciting benefits to your organisation, sponsorship helps us greatlyin covering the essential costs of holding fundraising events. So, each time an event is sponsored even more of the funds raised directly benefit the patients and families that we care for.
There are varying levels of sponsorship available and we can tailor packages to suit your needs and budget. We aim to feature your name and logo in as many ways as possible and this can include title sponsorship, banners and displays at events, presence on posters and leaflets, and mentions to our social media followers and eNewsletters and newsletter .
Payroll giving
Payroll Giving is an easy and flexible scheme, allowing your employees to donate money to charity without paying tax on it. It must be paid through PAYE from someone’s wages or pension.
Employers need to set up and run the scheme. The amount of taxrelief you get depends on the rate of tax you pay, for details visit

Don’t just take our word for itBy sponsoring one of our events you will not only raise your company’s profile and build positive awareness of your brand but also demonstrate your support of a truly amazing local charity.
“Cracking day! Well organised and executed. From a sponsor’s
point of view, seldom have I ever seen our logo looking so good or been prouder to be
part of something”Peter, Trade Paints

On Saturday 16th December, Janet an in-patient on Holly Ward, had a visit from a very special friend - her horse Crumble.
Crumble visited the Hospice on a crisp winter morning, the sun was shining and the double doors to Janet’s bedroom which lead onto the Hospicegardens were opened up to welcome the four legged friend. Crumble made himself at home, being fed carrots, and entertaining Janet and Hospice staff. Bonnie the dog also enjoyed the visit.
Janet said about the visit, “I feel great. It's the best therapy.”
St Michael’s Hospice’s Sister Jo Pinder said; “At the Hospice we try to make every patient’s wish come true. It was such a special moment and to see Janet so happy and to see Crumble in a relaxed environment with the sun beaming down, it was priceless.”
