Trotanoy is right at the top of the tree in Pomerol, and this beautifully textured wine’s intense, powerful nose is rich with the most darkly truffled black and red fruits.


This rich merlot blend is made in a highly-esteemed property by one of the right bank’s most formidable merchants and owners… a serious Claret for true devotees.


Plummy, purple and pleasure-packed, this spicy blend is the third vintage from Louis Mitjavile’s own property – combining power and charm with a taste of dark cherry on top.

Glittering gold and aromatic with grapefruit, orange and beeswax, this is Francois Carillon’s sublime debut after following in generations of his family’s footsteps and setting up on his own.


The minerality of this wine comes from the unique mixture of clay, chalk and marine fossil in the soil of the region, and it’s elegantly balanced with a concentrated, creamy fruity taste.


A true extrovert of a wine from one of Burgundy’s biggest and best names, this premier cru is sumptuous and hedonistic, with a wicked green-gold hue, zesty taste and creamy perfume.


To the north-east of Mersault and surrounded by a brick wall (the ‘Clos’), this vineyard has its own microclimate, creating a ripe and rounded, moreish white with a subtle minerality.


PULIGNY-MONTRACHET, DOMAINE FRANÇOIS CARILLON 2010/2012

This is Chablis in its purest form, from a family estate where Philippe Millet and his sons tend three hectares of 30-year-old vines. A pale lemon with crushed seashell and stone fruit, it’s crisp, tangy and rich.

The Pacific’s cool sea breezes drift over this boutique winery in the heart of Monterey County – and this dark, elegant Pinot Noir’s leafy notes combine with dark cherries to create a sublime, silky balance.


Muddy Water is a direct translation of the Maori area where these Pinot Noir grapes are grown. Crop levels are kept low, so the fruit is concentrated and flavourful.


Born from a joint venture between two historic winemaking families in 2000, this hedonistic Californian Chardonnay combines new world ripeness with old world balance, and has an opulent, citrusy tang.


NEW WORLD

In 1998 a group of entrepreneurial Italian and Argentine friends created this successful winery. Quimera, roughly translated as ‘Utopia’, is a multi-grape blend from three vineyards, offering dark, concentrated fruit with an earthy backdrop.

Cultivated on prime vineyards in the Valle Central (the heart of Chile’s oldest-established winemaking region, dating back to 1865), the grape-growing conditions are close to perfect, giving this wine a fresh, fruity, zestiness.

One of the very few examples of 100% Petit Verdot in Argentina (and with its name taken from local legend) this intense, full-bodied wine’s juicy black fruit and liquorice notes go perfectly with red meat.

In the cooler climate of the Adelaide Hills, well-known Australian winemaker John Edwards and his family make sure each vine complements the soil it’s in. The tiny addition of Viognier helps bring perfume and softness to this richly-fruited Shiraz.

From an award-winning family owned vineyard in South Africa’s Paarl region, this crisp white benefits from proximity to the temperature-regulating Atlantic – resulting in a gentle, herbaceous wine overflowing with finesse.


Har and Sophie Eradus knew they’d made the right decision when they found the initials H, S and E carved on a door in their newly bought New Zealand winery… and those initials are now on every bottle. In 2004 Hanna and Michiel Eradus took over the reigns.


Argentina is fast gaining a reputation for its incredible Torrontés, and this fantastically fruity white was cultivated 1400m up (in some of the highest vineyards in the world), giving it fresh flavours of jasmine, citrus and honeysuckle.

This pioneering boutique winery in Argentina was founded by two French wine makers in 1998, and uses high altitudes to preserve freshness. It’s a fantastic alternative to many of the classic Mendoza wines.

From one of Piedmont’s leading producers, this serious, brooding red invites you to rethink Barbera, with its spiced, dark fruit and marked minerality.


A dream with beef, this beautifully balanced, delicately spiced red was created by the pioneering spirit of Marchese Lodovico Antinori.


Tuscan sunshine, poured into a bottle… this versatile, plum-ruby wine is easy to drink – with a red berry, herby and pepper aroma – and excellent with food.


From an estate founded in the 1980s as a centre for advanced agricultural study, this smooth, silky red is of the highest quality – a well-structured, complex wine with a long, chocolatey finish.


Unlike most Pinot Grigios, this hails from the Friuli hills near the Slovenian and Austrian borders. The region’s unique soil is a rare mix of sandstone and marl, and is key to this white’s exceptional flavour and fragrance.


An earthy, opulent red from the wilds of the Val d’ Orica in the south-east of Tuscany, this plum-cherry aromatic red is a pure triumph from Andrea Franchetti’s extraordinary estate.

OLD FAVOURITES

The name comes from the resemblance of the wine’s old, gnarled vines to the Greek letter – as well as being a play on Bordeaux-trained Peter Sisseck’s initials. This wine is generously fruity, with a long, harmonious finish.


Michel Tardieu selects only the very finest parcels, and this perfumed, seductive glittering gold wine combines the richness of Viognier with extraordinary vibrancy.

This beautifully made slice of ‘Rhône-in-a-bottle’ was born not far from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, so benefits from similar soils (with the classic ‘pudding stones’). Spicy liquorice, dark fruit and fresh acidity make for a rustic yet elegant flavour.


This single-vineyard clean, crisp Sancerre is the product of the de Benoist family’s passion for creating the perfect Sauvignon Blanc. And they’ve done it: this multi award-winning wine is considered the very best of the region.


From 100% Grenache and vines aged more than 80 years, this inspirational wine is grown in soil with celebrated galets stones, making for a sweet, enticing charm that blends pomegranate with candied cherry.

As hosts of this special dinner, we’re bringing together two very distinctive and highly acclaimed wineries.

The Domaine des Varoilles name comes originally from a premier cru monopole first planted in the 12th century. The

vineyard holdings have expanded over the years, and now cover ten hectares and eight appellations. Under the strict stewardship

of Gilbert Hammel, the Domaine is now producing extremely fine wines of finesse and elegance, which have soared in quality.

Domaine Vincent Dampt is one of Chablis’ rising stars. The youngest generation of an impressive Chablis lineage, Vincent is the son of Daniel Dampt and grandson of Jean Defaix, both

admired Chablis producers. Respectful of family tradition, Vincent is nonetheless determined to build his own reputation

creating classic Chablis wines with a touch of opulence.

amicably separated and with quite distinct operations.
