JOBS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES(NAPSI)—About 56.7 million people have some kind of disability, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. If you or someone you care about is ever among them, you may be encouraged to know that despite aU.S. Department of Labor report that says people with disabilities face an unemployment rate of morethan 11 percent—double the national average—there is good news. Changes to the Rehabilitation Act of1973 have resulted in increased efforts by employers to recruit candidates with disabilities.More Opportunities To WorkThe Rehabilitation Act has supported people with disabilities for more than 40 years by prohibiting thefederal government, and businesses that work with the government, known as federal contractors, fromdiscriminating based on a disability. Recent changes to the Act now require these federal contractors totake positive steps to recruit, hire, train, promote, and retain people with disabilities. The changes includea new goal for federal contractors to have people with disabilities make up 7 percent of their workforce. This means that thousands of the businesses that provide goods and services to the government nowneed to hire more people with disabilities. These companies are also required to invite job applicants toidentify themselves as people with disabilities both during the application phase and after a job offer isextended.A Ticket to WorkAnother help is the Social Securityʼs Ticket to Work program. The program offers free employment supportservices to people age 18 through 64, who receive disability benefits, and who want to work. There are14 million Americans who are eligible for this voluntary program through which they can select a serviceprovider to help them prepare for, and find, a job. The provider may be a state Vocational RehabilitationAgency or an Employment Network—a public or private organization that contracts with Social Securityto provide:• career planning• job leads and job placement• ongoing employment support. Many of these service providers have been using the change to Section 503 to build relationships withfederal contractor employers in their communities to help them locate qualified candidates so that theycan meet their recruiting and hiring goals.Finding A Path To Financial IndependenceThe road to financial independence looks different for each person. Whether joining the workforce for thefirst time, or returning after a difficult diagnosis, there are challenges that each person must navigate. Tak-ing advantage of new opportunities related to Section 503, and using the free resources offered throughthe Ticket to Work program can remove some of the speed bumps on the journey to work.Learn MoreFor more information about the Rehabilitation Act or the Ticket to Work program, call (866) 968-7842 (V),or (866) 833-2967 (TTY), or visit www.socialsecurity.gov/work.

SAVING MONEY IN A SELLERʼS MARKET: THREE TIPS
(NAPSI)—If youʼre planning—or even just dreaming—of buyingyour first home, a few tips and trends may prove intriguing.
According to the National Association of Realtors, home pricesare up and accelerating because there are more buyers thanhomes for sale.
Here are three tips for first-time buyers looking to purchase inthis sellerʼs market:
Know your budget and stay within it: Before you start shopping, find out what you can afford with a preapproval from a lender soyou know how much money you can borrow. When determiningyour budget, consider the other costs of home ownership, includ-ing taxes, insurance and utilities.
When listings are scarce, home prices tend to rise as biddingwars drive them higher. Donʼt get caught up competing againstother buyers and counteroffering above what you can comfort-ably afford. Winning a bidding war could feel like losing if you endup spending above your means. Stay patient and walk away ifthe price surpasses your budget.
Identify needs versus wants: No home is perfect and many peo-ple have to compromise on features when buying an existinghome. At the same time, you donʼt want to end up settling for ahouse you donʼt love.
Separate and maintain your focus on what you really want in ahome against what you can live with (or without). A home in acertain school district or close to your job most likely falls into theformer while a kitchen with a fancy backsplash is something youcan add at a later date.
Work with a Realtor who knows the area: When housing supplyis tight, an attractively priced home will likely draw multiple offers.Find a Realtor with experience serving clients in your desiredarea. He or she can provide invaluable market information, in-cluding how fast homes are selling and for what price. A Realtorcan also help you with a negotiation strategy to make your offerstand out. To find one, go to www.realtor.com/realestateagentsand enter the zip code of the area where you want to buy.
Buying a home is arguably the most important financial decisionyouʼll make in your life. Working with a Realtor and following thisadvice can give you the advantage you need.

PUT THE BRAKES ON SKIN DAMAGE AND BEAT THE SUMMER HEAT
Innovative Solution Provides Protection(NAPSI)—The average American spends more than 101 minutes a day in a car according to Har-vard Health Watch. Thatʼs 37,935 hours or more than four years in a personʼs lifetime. Yet millionsof drivers do not realize that UVA rays infiltrate glass in cars and if unprotected contribute to longterm skin damage which can lead to aging, sagging skin or even cancer. Taking preventative meas-ures such as installing LLumar® window tint on vehicle windows and using sunscreen every dayhelp protect against skin damage.
According to a study in Dermatologic Therapy1, “The need for protection from the sun is widely ad-vocated, but consumers generally associate such protection with the occasional extreme exposureand tend to ignore the risk...Daily protection can reduce lifetime exposure by 50 percent or more.”
Dr. Dee Anna Glaser, vice-chair of the dermatology department at St. Louis University says, “UVArays penetrate deep into the skin and can silently accelerate the aging process, cause wrinklesand even skin cancer.” Unlike UVB rays, which create immediate effects like blistering and burns,UVA rays create long term damage that is not immediately noticeable. “Thatʼs why many peopledonʼt realize their skin is getting damaged from sitting near car windows or even at their desks atwork,” says Dr. Glaser.
A St. Louis University Medical School study2 revealed that nearly 53 percent of skin cancers in theUS occur on the left side of the body. Researchers believe the increase in left-sided skin cancersmay be from exposure to UVA radiation while driving. Notably the trend reverses to the right sideof the body in countries where drivers sit on the right side of the car.
According to Susan Butler, MD, a dermatologist and micrographic surgeon at the California SkinInstitute research shows there is a trend in “wrinkles, leathering, sagging, brown ʻageʼ spots andeven skin cancers” on the left side of patientsʼ faces. The more time subjects spend driving a vehi-cle, the more severe their photo damage (sun-induced skin damage) on the left side.”
Window Tint Benefits and Facts
• Blocks 99 percent* of harmful ultraviolet rays which may cause long term, cumulative skin dam-age.
• Darkened rear SUV, truck and minivan windows provide privacy but are less resistant to harmfulUV rays than window film. Clear window tint such as LLumar AIR Series installed on privacy glassoffers optimal protection.
• Helps reduce the interior surface temperature of a vehicle helping keep passengers cooler.
• Helps reduce fading and cracking of interior finishes.
• Visit www.llumar.com/find-a-dealer to locate a dealer near you and visit http://w3.llumar.com/skin-protection/index.html to learn more about skin protection.
