Peter Brotherhood’s Tours through Northumberland County

Phone: (905) 342-9870 or E-mail: [email protected] Peter Brotherhood is a former secondary school teacher who retired in 2001. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Western Ontario (1969) and a specialist teaching degree in both geography and history (1970). Peter has organized group tours involving both students and adults for over 40 years, travelling extensively to Europe, as well as Morocco, Hawaii, New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Since 2001, Peter has organized and led many tours, both nationally and internationally, including a 30 day tour to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, an eco-tour to Costa Rica, a tour of Newfoundland and Labrador, a Rocky Mountaineer Tour, a girl’s rugby tour to Ireland, tours to San Francisco and Israel. His clients span from church groups to retired teachers to national associations. He is available to help your agency plan your day tours, particularly to Northumberland County, in which he specializes. Not only does he research the tours thoroughly but he confirms the itinerary with the appropriate contacts. On the coach, Peter will provide a full commentary of the travels en route. He will do all the ground work for you, the agencies, while you do the marketing. Choose from more than 60 group day tours: 1. Enjoy Northumberland’s Apples & Tag Monarch Butterflies in Presqu’ile Provincial Park

From Cobourg, travel the Apple Route along Highway 2, passing apple orchards and learning how apple production has changed during the last century. Sample some crisp apples at Moore’s Orchard and enjoy lunch at the Timber Ridge Golf Course. With a naturalist, tour Presqu’ile Park and tag monarch butterflies as they begin their epic journey to their wintering grounds in Mexico. Spend some time exploring the Lighthouse Interpretive Centre with its fascinating displays of the area’s geological past, its unique environments, bird migration and colonial history.

Time: Late August to early September 2. The Wonders of Cobourg and Port Hope Start your tour at the St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Cobourg with its cathedral–like neo-gothic architecture, impressive stained glass and rich history. Take a coach tour of Cobourg to see Victoria College Residence, the American ‘Cottages’, the beautiful Waterfront, the Yacht Club and Cobourg’s most impressive building: Victoria Hall. Have lunch at one of Ontario’s Finest Inns (The Woodlawn Inn) or Arthur’s Restaurant at the Best Western or The Railside in Port Hope. Enjoy a historical tour of Port Hope to see some of its heritage homes, Canada’s last atmospheric theatre, the Capitol Arts Centre, and St. Mark’s Anglican Church.
