CÓRDOBA PROVINCE 3 PERFECT DAYS DAY 1 // EXPLORE THE MEZQUITA AND JUDERÍA It’s indubitable that you’ll want to spend your rst day in Córdoba diving into the mysteries of the Mezquita (p201), but to make the experience even more special make sure you get up extra early and visit this gorgeous place before the crowds hit it – the rst two hours after opening are free, and groups are not allowed in. After that, wan- der the adjoining streets of the Judería (p207), seeking out the quiet residential areas and peeking inside Córdoba’s patios (p208). DAY 2 // GASTRONOMIC TOUR Since food is one of Córdoba’s greatest appeals, don’t leave without dedicating a day (or two!) to the joys of exing the taste buds. Take a look at our selection of gastro- nomic highlights (p210) and sample the tapas, as well as raciones (meal-sized tapas) and full-on modern cuisine, all the while sipping local wines. Be sure to take yourself on an exploratory jaunt, popping in to any tapas bar that take your fancy – sometimes great surprises await. DAY 3 // RURAL DELIGHTS Córdoba province has some gorgeous nature – wild and unpopulated mountains and mysterious areas scattered among hard-working villages. Get your hiking boots on and discover the province’s beauties, and taste some quality olive oil on the way. End- less groves of olive trees mean that many of the villages make fantastic olive oil – Baena (p213) being the region’s foremost producer. © Lonely Planet

GETTING AROUND

As with most of Andalucía, parking can be difficult in the centre of some towns – try to arrive

at lunchtime for more available parking spaces and less traffic. Having your own car is best so

that you can explore the more rural parts independently. The best driving tour is along the

N502, from which you can explore Córdoba’s northern region.
