Transfer the stencil onto your 7x7 fabric.

Trace method:

If your fabric is light colored can transfer your stencil by

placing it behind your fabric and tracing the design with

a water-erasable pen.

Stabilizer method:

If your fabric is dark or too textured to work with one ofthe other methods, trace the stencil on a piece of water-

soluable stabilizer and baste it to the front of your fabric.

After you have completed the embroidery, follow the

manufactures directions to remove the stabilizer.

Place your 7x7

fabric with the

design into a 5 inch

embroidery hoop.

Floss: Some embroidery oss has multiple strands that

you can easily divide to make your stitches thinner. For

my examples I used DMC oss and separated each

piece into two equal parts of three threads. If your oss

isnt easy to separate, it just means you will have thickerlines and might want to consider using a larger needle .

For the provided designs it is best to start your embroidery in the upper right corner and

follow the directions shown for your design. Follow a similar pattern for your own designs.

Variation: Try using

Iron-on method:

To transfer using an iron-on pencil, trace the

design (either side of paper since the designs

are symmetrical, if using a nonsymmetrical

design, trace on the reverse side). Lay your

stencil, pencil side down on your fabric and iron

using heat only until pattern is transferred. Presdown with the iron, do not slide the iron. (Make

sure to follow the manufactures directions for

your iron-on pencil, as instructions may vary.)

When embroidery is complete,with the fabric still in the

hoop, pin the 4x4 fabric piece behind your design.

Stitch the heart outline to secure the two pieces together,

leaving a 1 inch gap for stung.

Remove the fabric from the

embroidery hoop.Shred the cotton balls and stu your

pin through the 1 inch gap.

Complete sewing the heart outline

and cut away excess fabric, leaving

1/8 inch or more around the outline.

Secure the pin to the back with

thread or glue.
