Information on the programInformation on the programSports Management programs have expanded and become specialized in both scope and complexity. The Bachelor’s degree in sports management is designed to prepare graduates for leadership roles in the administration and supervision of sports, recreation and the related career fields. Modern sports programs have evolved form part-time to full-time challenging occupations. Within the exercise of a single day’s responsibility, the contemporary sports manager may need to function as a business manager, ticket agent, scheduling consultant, labor negotiator, fitness consultant and goodwill ambassador. This program will enable one to meet these challenges and effectively execute them. It will also prepare students for careers in athletic and recreation Administration in Colleges and Universities as well as professional sports

Ms. Blake Parker current job is Administrative Assistant in the Physical Education Department at Coppin State College. She has earned her Bachelor’s degree and taken some graduate classes. She also work as an Reference assistant at Coppin’s Library on the weekends. Also she has spent 28 years of her life at Coppin State and she does not teach any classes. She is the president of the Sister Enduring in the new millennium(Cancer Support Group). Some of her hobbies are: Cooking, Collecting turtles, Enjoying her grandson, and working with the natural youth sports program.

Dr. Clearence Mills Dr. Clearence Mills Professor of Physical Professor of Physical

Education Department Education Department Dr. Mills is a professor at Coppin State College

who started his college education at Benedict Columbia in South Carolina. After his freshman year Dr. Mills transferred to Lincoln University and graduated in pre-med. He then went on to professional school at the Philadelphia College of Medicine. Four years and one residence later Dr. Mills received his medical degree in Podiatric Medicine.

After professional school Dr. Mills started his own private practice and ran it for 32 years. Dr. Mills started working as a professor at Coppin State in 1999 and has enlightened thousands of students’ minds in personal health, urban health, human sexuality, kinesiology and physiology of exercise for four years. Dr. Mills is certified in reconstructive surgery and when he is not in class he likes watching black college football and the saxophone.

Ms. Jewels EdwardsMs. Jewels Edwards Personal Health LecturerPersonal Health Lecturer

Ms. Edwards is a personal health lecturer at Coppin State College. She a true example of a person giving back to their school. Following her education from Coppin State, Ms. Edwards returned back to the school to teach personal health.

As a student of Coppin State, Ms. Edwards received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 1982. In 1988 she returned for a four-graduate degree in nursing. By 1995, Ms. Edwards was on her way to receiving a master’s degree in Rehabilitation.

Throughout her education Ms. Edwards worked a full time job for the State of Maryland at the Department of Health and Hygiene and a part time job for Coppin State. Ms. Edwards continued to work for the State for a total of 35 years. She retired for four years but has recently rejoined Coppin State and is now back teaching full time.

Ms. Edwards is a lifetime-licensed registered nurse, a mother of three and a grandmother of seven. When she is not educating young minds, Ms. Edwards enjoys listening to gospel and jazz music as well as watching and playing sports.
