• Lightweight aluminium bonnet, roof and boot minimise the overall weight of the car and ensure breathtaking performance. • Polycarbonate headlamps resist fading or cracking and stay good for the entire life of the car. • Daihatsu 1.3 l engine retuned to provide a more sporty performance with peak power and torque at 120 Nm coming at 4500 rpm and 65 kw coming at 6000 rpm. The power to weight ratio is 80 kW/kg.• Engine has a knock and drop facility to prevent it from intruding into the cabin in high speed front impact.• The front bumper, like the rear bumper, is polypropylene which makes it absorb minor impacts of up to 15 km/h without cracking or chipping the paint.

SIDE OVERALL

• Low slung sporty design minimises body roll. • Sports suspension with stiffer dampers further improves the handling of the vehicle and takes open top motoring to a new level. • Wheels positioned out at the corners of the vehicle widen the track and improve the cabin size making the most out of the Copen chassis. • The presence of the fi n on the rear adds down force to improve the high speed handling of the Copen. • Underneath the body of the Copen is a cross bracing steel, which makes this the stiffest, tautest chassis on a roadster.• Mag wheels are standard.• The Copen is a true roadster with a sporty handling performance. • The teardrop design style reduces drag and improves acceleration.

Body structureA number of fl oor braces are employed including double cross beams in the centre of the body in addition to the effective use of reinforcements and an increased wall thickness for the centre tunnel.

This results in a highly rigid, fi rm body, while the short wheelbase contributes to the vehicle’s magnifi cent manoeuvrability and agility. Thanks also to the optimally tuned suspension, the Copen provides a smooth and compliant ride with great stability.

• Vehicle is fi tted with dual airbags – airbags will only deploy with front collision and will not deploy in a minor collision where the impact is under 24km/h. • ITC – Integrated Timer Controller. - An impact system is installed to further improve the vehicle’s occupant survival. - Upon impact all doors unlock automatically and the hazards and interior lights go on.• Fuel cut off. - In event of collision the fuel fl ow cuts off, thereby preventing the risk of fi re. This system is activated in conjunction with the airbags.

• Anti Lock Brake System (ABS). - Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) are both standard, allowing the driver to steer while braking. The brake force is evenly distributed to the wheels to ensure precise stopping irrespective of grip conditions. • Front pillar gusset (around the windshield) is reinforced to withstand rollover without cracking windshield.• Rear roll bars prevent injury to occupants in case of rollover.• Dual side impact beams in both doors.

• Electronically operated solid roof minimises external noise. • The rear window is glass and has a demister to improve visibility. • The lightweight all aluminium roof takes just 20 seconds to open or close. • The Copen comes standard with a protector for the roof when it is in the down position, i.e when the roof is open. • Aero defl ector – Reduces wind wrap in the cabin when driving without top.

• CD player, radio as well as the high performance speakers are standard. • Air-conditioning is standard and highly effective in the cabin. • Electronically operated windows as well as side mirrors.• Integrated head rest provides support and looks like part of the car.

• Low seat positioning enhances the feedback from the chassis to the driver and passenger, making the most of the driving experience. • Winged sports seats hug the occupants’ bodies and cushion the driver and passenger when cornering fast. • Lockable cubbyhole and centre console guarantee that the car can be safely left with roof down, by preventing entry to either the boot or the fuel cap. The centre consol has the fuel fl ap opener and boot opener and the cubbyhole has the bonnet opener.• Momo sports steering wheel and electronic power steering is standard. • Steering column is height adjustable and telescopic to optimise driver position.• Door trim pocket. - Mesh pockets for driver and passenger.• Dual cup holders.• Rear panel pocket.

Interior• Boot space with the roof closed is a sizeable 210 litres. • The protector in the boot prevents the accidental lowering of the roof onto items in the boot and prevents damage to the roof or mechanism. • The spare wheel is replaced by a high tech puncture repair and wheel re-infl ation kit allowing bigger boot space. • Easy to operate boot closing – click down and it will electronically lock.

Exterior• Dual exhausts enhance the engine sound when driving and providing an even sportier look. • The turn radius of Copen is 9.2 m.
