Connect the COPS-928-POE Adapter to a Local Area Network (LAN)

1. If not already installed, plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the bottom of a new HomePlug AV Adapter and the opposite end of the cable into the LAN modem or router.

2. Plug the HomePlug AV Adapter into an AC wall power outlet near the modem or router. Plug into outlet as illustrated right.

Warning: Do not plug any HomePlug AV Adapter into a multi-power strip that has surge protection. Doing so will degrade Powerline performance. For best performance, plug all HomePlug AV Adapters directly into a wall outlet.

3. For connecting to a device: Plug the one end of the Ethernet cable into an Ethernet port on your IP camera, Wi-Fi Access point, or other PoE remote device and the opposite end into the COPS-928-POE.

4. Make sure that the PLC Link light on each device turns solid green. 5. Your COPS-928-POE is now connected to the HomePlug AV network. 6. To enter standby mode for this device, double click on the security/reset button within 1 second. 7. To exit standby mode for this device, press the security/reset button once.

PoE Light Solid Green: Connected PoE device detected as needing power. Port is supplying PoE. Off: Connected PoE device detected as not needing power. Port is not supplying PoE. PLC (Power Line Communications) Link Light The PLC Link light indicates the performance of the network with 3 colors: Red: Minimum connection indicates weak signal and slower network speed: less than 50Mbps Orange: Normal signal with standard network speed: 50-99Mbps Green: Excellent signal with optimal network speed: 100Mbps+ Off: No activity. This COPS-928-POE Adapter is not connected Ethernet Link Light Solid Green: 10/100 Mbps port linked Off: Ethernet Link not active Power Light On: COPS-928-POE Adapter is receiving electrical power Off: Power off Flashing Green (1 second ON, 4 second OFF): Device in standby mode

Ethernet Port Security / Factory Reset This function is designed to generate an individual HomePlug AV network group under multiple nodes environment. Press and hold for 20 seconds to factory reset used to clear ALL data and restore ALL settings to the factory default values.

Troubleshooting and Disclaimer If your COPS-928-POE has difficulty communicating with other HomePlug AV adapters, check the following: • Try power cycling the unit by unplugging it from the wall, wait10 seconds, then plug it back in again.

• Hold the security/reset button down for 20 seconds to reset to factory default setting. The COPS-928-POE light will

flash, the unit will reset, and attempt to link all connections. • Try plugging the COPS-928-POE into an adjacent outlet. • HomePlug AV adapters work best when plugged directly into a wall outlet. Connecting the COPS-928-POE to a power

strip or surge protector may degrade network performance or completely stop network signals.

• COPS-928-POE should not be used on GFI protected outlets because some outlets will degrade the HomePlug Powerline signal.

• COPS-928-POE should not be used in areas with excessive heat. • Certain florescent or incandescent lights and dimmers are noise sources on the electrical and can degrade

performance. • If where the COPS-928-POE adapter is being install is in a building that has more than one circuit breaker box, the

adapter may not be able to connect between the separate electrical circuits. In this case, connect one HomePlug AV Injector to a power outlet located on each side of the circuit boxes. Connect Ethernet cable between each of the HomePlug AV Injector to link the different circuits together. This will allow the COPS-928-POE from different circuit breaker boxes to connect via the HomePlug AV Injectors that connect the two power circuits.
