Reporting to the Manager People and Culture, the Coordinator Organisation Development and

Safety is responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating systems, programs and initiatives

that contribute to developing organisational capabilities and a constructive culture.

• Organisation Culture – play an integral part in establishing a strategic approach to developing a constructive organisation culture that promotes the corporate values and is measured through the Human Synergistics circumplex.

• Learning and Development - coordinate the development and implementation of programs that enable service delivery, the achievement of strategic objectives, legislative compliance, high performing teams, and organisational excellence.

• Leadership Development – strengthen leadership capability through training, coaching, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and developing constructive styles through the Life Styles Inventory (LSI).

• Performance Development – enhance systems and processes to enable performance planning, and reviews for all employees to be undertaken and recorded.

• Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing – champion safety and wellbeing through providing advice, analysis, recommendations and reports on OHS; maintain the OHS Management System in line with the MAV WorkCare Program; and implement and assess effectiveness of health and wellbeing initiatives in the workplace.

Key responsibility areas

• Worker’s Compensation - manage legislative obligations and minimise associated costs; overseeing return to work programs; coordinating involvement with the MAV WorkCare Program.

• Systems Development and Reporting - putting the customer at the centre, oversee the development and implementation of OneCouncil systems for the People and Culture Department, maintain organisation management structure and provide necessary reports to the Executive Leadership Team, Council, Audit Committee, and regulatory bodies.

• Equity Diversity and Inclusion - coordinate initiatives to promote gender equality, diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace.

• Team Leadership - lead and develop the team to deliver value-adding support to the organisation through partnering approach aligned with the organisational goals and strategies.

• Other duties as directed within the skills and abilities of a position at this level.

The incumbent must:

Be a leader, champion workplace health and safety laws to lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

Be compassionate, facilitate injury and claims management services including facilitation of return to work programs for injured workers.

Be driven, promote the organisation’s strategic direction, community expectations for services, management team priorities and the systems used across the organisation.

Be ingenious, explore Human Resource practices in order to be adept at assessing, developing and implementing systems and processes relevant to People and Culture with the customer at centre.

The incumbent must:

Be passionate, drive occupational health and safety programs for the organisation including implementing, prompting and monitoring of Occupational Health and Safety Management system in line with policies and organisational directives.

Be excellent, set and meet team budget targets with strategies in place to assist in achieving Councils Long Term Financial Plan, including management of contracts within key responsibility areas.

Qualifications and experience

The incumbent must:

Be studious, have a tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Health and Safety management or organisational development related discipline.

Be diligent, know Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and demonstrate ability to implement and manage systems and processes.

Be dynamic, have diverse experience in developing organisational culture and leadership capability, leading people, introducing systems and enabling constructive compliance.
