Deadline is March 25, 2010. Application can be found on the Burnett County 4-H

FAQ’s on Volunteer Orientation:

Q: Who must go through volunteer orientation?

A: Any adult 18 years of age or older serving the 4-H program and working with youth in a volunteer role. This includes club and county volunteers.

Q: Why is Volunteer Orientation mandatory?

A: The primary purpose of this process is to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants (i.e., youth, their parents and families, salaried and volunteer staff). Every adult that goes through this process is also training in Youth Protection to further ensure the safety of our youth members.

Q: I attended the training a long time ago, do I have to go through it again?

A: Probably not! If all of your information is up to date, you have signed the volunteer expectation agreement every year and annually submit your leader enrollment form...Then you are all set!

Q: I haven’t been an active leader the last couple of years, but I am interested in

being more involved this year, What do I have to do?

A: Returning volunteers who have been absent one to four years need the background records check, signed Volunteer Behavior Expectations form, but are not required to attend the orientation to be reinstated as a volunteer. Returning volunteers who have been absent five or more years need to repeat the entire Youth Protection process.

Q: I’m new to 4-H, What do I have to do to become a volunteer?

A: All leaders and volunteers must complete a leader enrollment form and sign the volunteer expectation agreement located on that form. You must also attend a volunteer orientation at the government center and have a background records check every four years performed by the UW-Extension office.

Any questions please contact Dani at the UWEX office!
