Importance of Lighting

Right kind of illumination is necessary to get good pictures. So employ the right lighting technique

Backlighting

This type of lighting technique is used for silhouette photographs.

The primary light source is placed behind the subject

This results in highlighting edges of the subject.

The object being photographed assumes a dark texture while light rays fall from behind

Side Lighting

In case of side lighting, source is placed on one side of the subject.

One side of the face of a model is well lit while the other half is dark

Profile Lighting

The head of the model is turned 90 degrees away from the camera.

Key and fill lights are installed on either sides of the person. Hair light is placed above the head of the subject. There is a reflector behind the person

Rembrandt Lighting

This is one of the most used techniques in photography. The key photography lighting equipment is positioned around 90 degrees away from camera, circular distance.

The face of the subject is turned 45 degrees away from the camera. Fill light is placed close to the camera. Hair and background remain in their places
