CookPre-ApprenticeshipProgramCookTrainingatNoCost?!Doesyourorganizationneedqualifiedcooks?Doyouwanttoparticipateintrainingthenextgenerationofcooksandchefs?Apre-apprenticeshipisauniqueopportunityforOntarianstolearnatradewithoutrequiringanemployerorsigningontoanapprenticeprogram,andithasnocostforparticipants.Eachyear,over80pre-apprenticeshipsarefundedbytheMinistryofAdvancedEducationandSkillsDevelopment(formerlyMTCU),andtheyaredeliveredinavarietyoftradeswithoutchargebycommunitycolleges,tradeunions,andprivateandnon-profitorganizations.InnorthernYorkRegion,acommunity-basednon-profitorganizationhasreceivedfundingtorunjustsuchaprogramforCooktraining.TheprogramconsistsoftwelveweeksofintensivetrainingintheCooktrade(basedonCook415ALevel1OntarioCollegeofTradescurriculum),aswellasrelatedtrades,plushealth&safetyandindustrycertifications,academicupgrading,andsubsidizedworkplacements.Participantswillalsoreceiveakitofkitchentoolsandkitchensafetyweartoassistwitheventualemployment,plustransportationsupport,fieldtrips,andmore.Twelveparticipantswillbechosentoparticipateinthis36-weekprogramthatwillbeanincredibleopportunitytoentertheculinaryfield.TheOntarioRestaurant,MotelandHotelAssociationwasinstrumentalinprovidingsupportfortheapplicationtoMAESDbyGeorginaTradesTrainingInc.(GTTI)basedinSutton,Ontario.Inaddition,manylocalrestaurants,caterers,institutions,andotherculinaryorganizationsprovidedlettersindicatinganurgentneedforqualifiedcooksintheirkitchens.GTTIwillbeusingtheirTrainingCentreandacommercialkitcheninanearbycommunityfacilitycalledTheLinktoprovidethetrainingundertheleadershipofaRedSealchefandothercommunitypartners.ORMHAmembersandotherculinaryindustryplayerscanbothcontributetoand/orbenefitfromthisprojectin2017andbeyond.Here’show:
• Provideaworkplacementforourprogramgraduates(upto12weeks,witha$4.64/hoursubsidytoamaximum$162.50perweekforatotalof$1950overtwelveweeks)-startingasearlyasSeptember18,2017
• Provideanopportunityforaprogramfieldtriptovisityourfacilitytoseeanauthenticculinaryoperationworking.
• Provideaguestspeakerorspecializedinstructioninanareaofexpertiseintheculinaryfield.
• Assistwithrecruitingforourprogram/buildyourstaffcapacity:o doyouhaveanexistingorpotentialemployeewhowouldbenefit

Wewouldbehappytohearfromyou,eitherwithquestionsoroffersofsupport.GeorginaTradesTrainingInc.(GTTI)hasspentthepast11yearsprovidingtraining,education,andskillsdevelopmenttomembersofournorthernYorkRegioncommunity.Asanon-profit,registeredcharity,weaccessfundingfromanumberofgovernmentagenciesandprivatefoundationstorunavarietyofprograms,oneofwhichisthepre-apprenticeshipdescribedhere.Ourclientscomefromourcommunityandanever-expandingcatchmentarea,andweareuniqueinwhatweprovideinthatareaofinfluence.Wehavetwobusestohelppeopleaccessourservices,weconnectwithmanypartneragenciesandindividualstodeliverprogram,webringfundingintothecommunityandsupportlocalbusinesseswithtrainingandpotentialemployees.Cook(415A)Pre-Apprenticeship-mid-ApriluntilDecember2017

SmartServe,FirstAid/CPR,WHMIS,etc.)• othertrainingtoenhanceemployability:customerservice,goal-setting,
conflictmanagement,resumeandjobapplicationstrategies,jobsearch,interviewskills,etc.
