CONVERGENCE 2K13 REPORT

ACTIVITY REPORT DAY 1

Inaugural ceremony

Inaugural ceremony began with the chief guest lighting up the lamp. The ceremony marked the

beginning of the 15th legacy of CONVERGENCE. The welcome note was given by Dr.Y.Padmasai,

co-convener, Convergence 2K13. A brief note on Convergence 2K13 was given by P.Praswanth,

student coordinator followed by Dr.C.D.Naidu (Principal,VNRVJIET), Dr.D.N.Rao(General

secretary,VNR VJIET), Guest of honor Sri V.RamaRao,Secretary-ISTE AP section and Sri

Subbananda Rao ,Director of P.U.Campus and the Chief guest Dr.G.V.RamaRaju,Scientist G,R &D

IT dept, India Group addressing the gathering.

The thought provoking speech was given by the chief guest. His views invoked the new ideas

and inspired the gathering.

The inaugural ceremony also marked as a flag off for the 3 day events. The events which were

scheduled to be held on day 1 of convergence were 70 in number which included 2 PPTs, 3

Workshops, 37 Technical Events, 9 Robotics Events, 20 Non Technical and 1 Green Event.

And about 20 stalls were setup out of which 5 were food stalls and rest were technical and game stalls

adding a festive atmosphere to the college campus.

We had students from various colleges actively participating in the events. A huge number of highly

reputed resource persons and speakers shared their knowledgeable thoughts amongst the participants.

The Speakers for workshops were invited from esteemed institutions like IIT Delhi.

The events went on smoothly with a huge number of spot registrations and with great coordination

among the entire team of CONVERGENCE 2K13.

Robotics events had a huge inflow of participants attracting more than 400 teams in 9 events battling

themselves throughout the day for fame. The end of the day winners were asked to turn up for next

rounds to be followed on the next 2 days. This was the show stopper of Convergence.

The first day of the Convergence was a grand success more than 2500 participants have turned up.

ACTIVITY REPORT DAY 2

The events which were scheduled to be held on day 2 of convergence were in 70 in number which

included 5 PPTs, 3 Workshops, 36 Technical Events, 9 Robotics Events, 28 Non Technical and 1

Green Event.

16 stalls were setup consisting of food, NGO, technical and game stalls adding a festive atmosphere to

the college campus.

The first days flow continued and huge number of students walked in. We had students from various

colleges actively participating in the events. A huge number of highly reputed resource persons and

speakers shared their knowledgeable thoughts amongst the participants.

The events went on smoothly with massive spot registrations and with great coordination among the

entire team of CONVERGENCE, from the head chair down to the volunteers thus making it a

magnificent event.

112teams in 9 events battling themselves throughout the day for fame. The end of the day winners

The second day of the Convergence had a great response.

Withholding previous day’s participants also attracted many new participants on the second day. It

was a grand success more than4000 participants have turned up.

ACTIVITY REPORT DAY 3

Valedictory ceremony

Valedictory ceremony began with the Activity Report presented by UmakanthSai B, student

coordinator, Convergence 2K13 .Next Dr.Y.Padmasai, co-convener of Convergence gave a

message regarding Convergenvce followed by Dr.D.N.Rao , General Secretary,

VignanaJyothi and conveyed best wishes to the team. The thought provoking speech by the

Chief Guest, Sri BolewarBabu,Joint General Manager (Ordnance factory Medak) Ministry of

Defence enlightened our minds. His views invoked new ideas and inspired the gathering.

The souvenir for this convergence has been launched by our Chief Guest, Sri B. Babu. The

winners of all the paper presentations, technical, non-technical and robotics were awarded

with the honorariums by our guests.

The vote of thanks has been delivered by V. Shashank, Convergence student coordinator,

marking the successful ending of the three day event.

Most events conducted their final round from the left over’s of preliminary rounds and

declared the prize winners.

The third day of the Convergence was a grand success more than 1500 participants have turned up.

30-11-2013 -.RacharlaAmulya(09071A04A1) student of ECE department was selected by

ISTE AP section for the award of Gudlavalleru Engineering collage’s award for “Ideal

student of Talent and Excellence”

26-01-2014 – ISTE chapter of VNRVJIET took part an active participation in Parade

organized by NSS of VNRVJIET under the theme opposition to Dowry System.

14-02-2014 – A workshop was conducted on E-Cyborgs by ISTE, IIPC, TEQIP,

INDOGLOBAL SERVICES

D.Likith, III Year ECE Student attended workshop on Building a Ornithopter and

won 1st prize in “Flapping Mechanism Design Challenge” at Engineering Staff

College of India (ESCI) at Gachibowli on 06-08-2014.
