The oil distribution box is fitted on theintermediate shaft. The servomotor islocated in the rear part of the shaft and itis connected with the pitch settingmechanism in the propeller hub by a pull- push rod placed in the propeller shafthole. The propeller shaft has got aflange for fitting the propeller hub. Thepropeller shaft is connected with the oildistribution box shaft by a shrink typecoupling.The internal hub mechanism islubricated with the oil from the sterntubebearings lubricating system. In case ofwater lubrication of sterntube bearingsspecial solutions for lubricating the hubinternal mechanism are used.In the hydraulic system there are twopumps (including a stand-by one) drivenby electrical motors.An emergency propeller pitch settingmakes it possible to block the pitch inthe forward position and to operate thepropeller system as if it was with a fixedpitch propeller.

The oil distribution box is fitted on the front wall of the gear-box. The pitch changing servomotor bolted to the aft end ofthe output shaft changes the position of the pitch changingmechanism in the propeller hub by the pull - push rodlocated in the axial hole of the propeller shaft. The propellershaft has got a flange for fitting the propeller hub. Thepropeller shaft is connected with the servomotor by a shrinktype coupling.The internal hub mechanism is lubricated with the oil fromthe sterntube bearings lubricating system. In case of waterlubrication of stertube bearings specjal solutions for lubricatingthe hub internal mechanism are used.In the hydraulic system there are two pumps (including astand-by one) driven by electrical motors. If required, oneof the pumps can be fitted on the gear. An emergencypropeller pitch setting makes it possible to block the pitch inthe forward position and to operate the propeller system asif it was with a fixed pitch propeller.

The oil distribution system, pitch settingservomotor, the thrust bearing and the multiplatedisc clutch are integrated in the reductiongear box. The pitch setting servomotor isconnected with the pitch changing mechanism inthe propeller hub with the use of a pull - push rodlocated in the axial hole of the propeller shaft. Thepropeller shaft has got a flange for fitting thepropeller hub. The propeller shaft is fitted with theuse of a clamp or a shrink type coupling.The oil pump suspended on the gear box drivenfrom the inlet shaft ensures appropriate amounts ofoil for the servomotor and lubricating systems. Astand-by oil pump is free-standing and driven by anelectrical motor. The internal hub mechanism islubricated with the oil From the sterntube bearingslubricating system. RPS TRANSMISSION GEARS-TECHNICAL DESCRIPTIONRPS type transmission gears are of singlestageand are equiped with multiplate clutch andservomotor of propeller pitch change.Gear box housing is made of cast iron. The lowerpart of housing is also an oil tank.The servomotor is built in the output shaft oftransmission gear. There is a push-pull rodconnected witch a piston of the servomotor. Bymeans of this rod the reciprocating movement istransferred from the servomotor to the mechanismof hub.As a standard the following units of oil system arebuilt on the gear housing: main pump, filters, valveblock, elektrohydraulic transducer BPE, rotaryservomotor (auxiliary), angulary displacementtransducer. RPS transmission gears are conformedto local and remote controls of propeller pitch.Local control is carried out by the lever which islocated on the rotary servomotor.Electrohydraulic elements of remote control whichare built on the transmission gear are as follows:electrohydraulic transducer BPE and angulardisplacement transducer.Angular displacement transducer includes twopotentiometers fed from remote control system(one gives signal of feedback, second gives pitchmeasurement signal).Electrohydraulic transducer BPE is controlled bycurrent with intensity from - 250 mA to + 250 mA. Multiplate clutch is controlled by the distributorinstalled in valve block.

The oil distribution box fitted on the front wall ofthe gearbox co-operates with the servomotorlocated in the propeller hub. The oil is distributedto the servomotor in the hub with the use ofaligned pipes located in the gear output shafthole and the propeller shaft.The hub internal mechanism is lubricated with oilfrom the gravity tank. The oil is distributed to thelubricating area of the oil distribution box via anaxial hole in the propeller shaft and the gearshaft (outside of the two aligned pipes).The propeller hub is fitted on the aft end of thepropeller shaft. The propeller shaft is connectedwith the output gear shaft by a shrinkcoupling.In the hydraulic system there are two pumps(including a stand-by one) driven by electricalmotors. One of the pumps can be mounted onthe gear.A special stop valve in the propeller shaftensures maintaining a fixed pitch of the propellerwhen the oil pressure goes down. After stoppingthe main motor the pitch can be set at anyposition with the use of a manual pump.
