    Exp 1: Introduction to Simulink.

    Task: Build and simulate a DC motor model

    Goals:

    Familiarize students with Matlab/Simulink as a simulation tool.

    Learn about DC machines and equations.

    Exp 2: A simple second order real-time system, programmed with Simulink.

    Task: Build a simple second order system in Simulink for implementation on dSpace

    DSP.

    Goals:

    Familiarize students with Matlab/Simulink as a DSP programming tool.

    Learn about dSpace, ControlDesk, and how to build control layouts.

    Compare simulation and real-time results

    Exp 3: Full-bridge control and using it to drive a no load DC motor.

    Task: Program the DSP with Simulink to control the output of the power board.

    Goals:

    Familiarize students with drives setup hardware.

    Get the motors spinning.

    Measure no load DC motor data.

    Exp 4: Characterization of a DC machine.

    Task: Experimentally derive DC machine parameters.

    Goals:

    Illustrate the process of parametizing machines for control.

    Learn more advanced Matlab tools for data analysis.

    Lots of time spinning the motors.

    Task: Run an induction machine over a wide speed range.

    Goals:

    Familiarize students with induction machine drives.
