ContiTech Steel Cord Conveyor Belting

Stahlcord® is constructed with a singleplane of ultra-strong steel cords, whichare completely impregnated and encasedwith a special cable rubber and assem-bled in the belt in an alternating twistdesign, providing exceptional trackingcharacteristics. Stahlcord® is the belt ofchoice for high tension, long center dis-tance, or highly abusive applications.

Durarip breakers can be incorporatedinto Stahlcord® conveyor belting, whichenhances the resistance to punctures,rips, tears, and impact damage.Breakers can be either textile or steelin design.

The ContiTronic® belt monitoring systemutilizes integrated circuits vulcanized intothe conveyor belt which are capable ofstoring, transmitting, and receiving all rel-evant data about the belt type, design,and application. When used in conjunc-tion with special loops embedded into thebelt, it provides an early warning system,which will protect the conveyor belt fromlongitudinal slitting.

ContiFlex® SD fabric reinforced con-veyor belts fulfill a wide variety of bulkmaterial handling tasks in all types ofindustry. The high-strength polyester/nylon plies are suitable for heavy-dutyoperations. High quality rubber coversare designed to operate in many differ-ent environments and conditions.

ContiFlex® XT fabric reinforced con-veyor belts are highly engineered tomeet the special demands of convey-ors that operate at extreme tensions.High quality rubber covers are matchedto operating conditions and environ-ment to maximize service life.

The SystemTransponders are electronic compo-nents (integrated circuits) capable ofstoring, sending and receiving data.Vulcanized into conveyor belts, theyprovide a variety of functions:

They identify the conveyor belt bystoring and transmitting all relevantdata about belt type, design, applica-tion, etc.

They monitor the conveyor belt’scondition and report damage (longitudi-nal slitting).

They control the belt, or sections ofit, by analyzing data via the host sys-tem. Transponders can be used in allkinds of conveyor belts in virtually anyindustrial sector.

The TechnologyThe heart of the this new technology isthe transponder, a tiny microchip whichis vulcanized into the conveyor belt.The transponder is always activated fordata transfer once it enters the mag-netic field of a receiver consisting of acontroller with read head (aerial). Inthis way, the transponder can alsotransmit (send and receive) data. Allinformation is analyzed with the help ofthe host computer.
