Continuing Support for the United Way
The US Department of Health and Human Services estimates that as of 2005 there were just fewer than two million families in need of welfare assistance in the United States For more than 125 years the United Way has been helping individuals achieve their full potential through education health care and financial stability With the encouragement and continued collaboration of its many supporters the United Way continues to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals who need it the most Below are a few ways by which interested benefactors can support the organization
Continuing Support for the United Way
Volunteer your time The United Way provides many opportunities for individuals to volunteer whether tutoring or mentoring a young child or working in a local food pantry The organization recently launched an initiative to recruit one million new volunteers to mentor tutor or read to young children
Continuing Support for the United Way
Become an advocate The organization encourages its supporters to speak out on issues related to education health care and income By contacting representatives in Congress or in their state individuals can have a positive impact and help affect change in their own communities
