What is CLIL? Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) helps students at primary, secondary and tertiary level to learn English and gain knowledge of curricular subjects, by learning those subjects in English. CLIL integrates subject and language learning in the classroom in a total immersion style, without the need for extra lessons. CLIL is being widely introduced at all levels of education at schools and colleges worldwide.

What does the course involve?The tutors will work with course participants to produce a wide range of materials and activities which can be used as part of a CLIL curriculum. The course is suitable for teachers at primary, secondary and tertiary level.

What does the course involve?E-Moderating is taught entirely online over four weeks with approximately ten hours study each week. The course is accessed through IH London’s learning management system and combines private study, collaborative discussion tasks and live classrooms. To complete the course you are required to complete a series of individual and group tasks as well as pass three assessed tasks based on the following:

Introduction and orientationYou will get to know one another then focus on the nature of online learning and fostering an online community.

Supporting online learnersYou will look at how learners develop online, compare common online learner profiles and learn how to identify and support learners in difficulty.

Managing discussion forumsYou will learn how to set up a discussion forum, design a discussion forum task, respond to learner posts as well as summarize and close a discussion. You will look at some real examples from the CELTA Online.

Managing live classroomsYou will learn how to use a live classroom, such as that used on the CELTA Online, firstly as a student and then as a moderator. You will learn how to troubleshoot common problems. Finally you will run your own session and reflect on the experience.

What are the course benefits?By the end of the course you will have a basic awareness of the key aspects of supporting online learners and developing an online community. You will have developed basic E-Moderating skills enabling you to function as an online tutor.

Delta The Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults

Delta is designed for experienced English language teachers who would like to improve their existing skills and develop new techniques to progress their career.The Delta qualification is a balance of theory and practice that will enhance your understanding of the English language, while examining in depth the principles of effective teaching and the practical skills required for teaching English.Our Cambridge Delta is accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) at level 7 on the National Qualifications Framework.

What does the course involve?Delta is modular and comprises three modules each separately certificated by Cambridge English. You can choose to take each one as a stand-alone course or complete all three modules to get full Delta certification and an overall Delta diploma. The modules will cover all elements of Cambridge English Delta assessment units.

Module ThreeManaging Customer Service

Topics coveredThis module looks at setting and improving customer service standards, and how to encourage both customers and employees to play an active role in this process. It considers parallel and generic benchmarking as a tool for setting service standards.

Module FourBusiness Management

Topics coveredThis module explores the topics of marketing and finance. It discusses the marketing mix and product life cycles, and considers competitor analysis in some detail. The finance section focuses on the areas of budgeting and presenting a business case.

Extended Assignment

Topics coveredThis shorter module covers research methodology and definition of an assignment topic set by the participant and refined in discussion with their tutor. The final 3,500 word assignment researches and evaluates a topic which is context-relevant to the participant and their organisation.
