“Something clicked for me tonight.” said “Joe” a freshman from Leo High school. “I’ve heard about Jesus and everything He has done for me before, but tonight it just clicked about what it means to put my faith in Jesus Christ.” Joe said this at a Youth for Christ camp he went to this summer. One of the things that I love to see is the moment it “clicks” with a kid and they trust Jesus with their whole life.

In eight high schools and 15 middle schools, our Campus Life staff and volunteers are continuously pursuing and impacting young people with the love and truth of Jesus Christ. Through the simplicity and complexity of relationships, our staff dive into the hurts, joys, and lives of kids across our communities, in hopes that it will someday “click” with them.

Campus Life

With Joe Wright and Ashley Hazel both full-time in JJM, they are able to tackle two juvenile facilities (Allen County Juvenile Center and Youth Services Center), Primetime Community Center (YFC’s youth center), and Whitington (a group home). Between the two of them, they are at these places five days a week, building relationships with kids, helping them make better decisions, and sharing with them the hope they have in Christ.

Recently, we’ve added a mentoring piece to our ministry. Our dream is to have a mentor for every kid. A lot of times, when kids get released from a facility, they will fall back into their old ways due to the lack of accountability. We want kids to have an adult that will hold them accountable and show them what it looks like to know and walk with Jesus. Currently, we are recruiting volunteers for this piece. If you have any interest in this, contact us at www.fwayfc.org.

JJM (Juvenile Justice Ministry) UpdateThe Juvenile Justice Ministry works with at-risk young people that are often outside the scope and reach of mainstream ministry. YFC believes in the power of connecting these hurting young people with caring Christian adults.

We want to say a special thanks to Blackhawk Ministries for the wonderful blessing of our facility.

Family Care Center has a new location: 7404 Turkey Run, Fort Wayne IN. 46815Located behind Blackhawk Baptist ChurchNew Phone number: 260-493-0055Websites: Familycarectr.org Vitalitycareinst.org

Ft. Wayne Area Youth for Christ is looking to get connected with adults and students from all over the Greater Ft. Wayne area. Please feel free to visit our website at www.fwayfc.org. Our national YFC organization is actually helping us to do a facelift with expectations of going live with our updated site in the middle of October.

You can also become friends with us on Facebook at “Fort Wayne Area Youth for Christ”. If you have any questions concerning our ministry, our YFC events, or if you simply want to get involved, call Marlas Robrock at 260-484-4551, ext. 207.

Family Care and Vitality CareThe Family Care and Vitality Care counseling ministries are experiencing great fruit and success. Family Care provides counseling in our community and the surrounding areas. In addition, Vitality Care has provided coaching/ counseling to over 200 pastors, youth pastors, missionaries, and their families in the past year. What an impact and blessing for our greater Fort Wayne community.

We are welcoming Brad and Meredith Boyles to Columbia City to begin Campus Life work at the high school. We have been praying, interviewing and waiting for God to bring the right person/couple to this community to continue the work that has been done in Columbia City annually. We are ecstatic about the Boyles beginning their ministry career with us. Brad has been involved with Campus Life for years as a student, and then as a volunteer. He brings with him lots of enthusiasm and passion to make a difference at CCHS!

In Huntington, a different kind of excitement is being unleashed. The ministry is going to focus on a large group of volunteers leading the ministry at HNHS this year. A part-time staff person, Seth Lochmueller, will be connecting with lots of students at the high school, but he has a host of volunteers, older and younger, to do some dreaming with him this year. It’s been tagged ‘the dream team’ because of the older gang that’s involved.

Look for more on this in newsletters to come, and on the website at www.fwayfc.org.

In the Counties

Get Connected

It is with great excitement that we share with you news from Whitley and Huntington counties.

We have received and accepted an offer on our Hillegas property. Three churches have joined together to become one entity…that’s a praise in itself. We are thankful for God’s provision and perfect timing. If all the paper work goes as planned we will be moving to a property owned by Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company on Ludwig road in the middle of November. The new space will be completely remodeled and give us all the space we need. Because of Brotherhood’s partnership and ministry heart, this new facility will have a significant, positive impact on our annual budget. We are humbled and thankful for like minded partners. Our new address will be 6427 Oakbrook Parkway, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, 46825.

We will still be working out of our Primetime center as well at 3701 S. Calhoun St. We are blessed to have a debt free facility with a gymnasium, computer lab, game room and several offices and meeting rooms.

Celebrations •Primetime Task Force that is in the process of being built•407 students who gave their lives to Jesus this past year•YFC finished this past budget year in the black. PTL!•Building being sold and with that, all debt GONE!•All staff who had been moved to part-time are now back to full-time• A board that is very engaged, excited and determined to

tackle the mission of YFC

Needs•Continued wisdom as we move forward into 2011•Sustainability in ALL of our ministry areas for years to come• Hundreds of people to attend our fall Piece Rallys,

helping us grow the army

It has been a rewarding time to be a board member of Fort Wayne Area Youth for Christ. Over the past year or so we have taken a hard look in the mirror, retooled the ministry, and set a new strategic vision that our board is very excited about. God has been faithful to us in the present, just as He has been past, and as He will be in the future.

I help organizations with strategic planning as a profession. Sometimes this involves wading through complex, interdependent issues to navigate a solution that couldn’t have been resolved without outside assistance. Sometimes I am the “master of obvious” where the solution is clear and yet the organization was making the pursuit of direction much too complicated. It is my belief that the most critical component of the new strategic vision for FWAYFC is a significant growth in the number of adult volunteers. For me, it is the obvious answer – the essential element in reaching our vision for the ministry. Our staff is extremely talented and our board is extremely committed. But for us to Pursue and Impact youth Everywhere we must recruit and re-engage those of you who share our passion to see young men and women grow in their walk with Jesus Christ. Please consider volunteering as a Community Support team member or a front-line volunteer in one of our communities, as a juvenile justice ministry mentor, or at the Prime Time Center. Help us raise funds in your community to support the work of FWAYFC on a local basis. I am thrilled with the progress we have made over the last year with the Lord’s help. For us to make the next step – we need you.

City LifeThe Primetime Community Center is back in full swing now that school is back in session. Our Economics, after school tutoring, and Positive Life Choices programs are up and running. With the addition of two part-time staff, our sports and recreation programs along with our girl talk program will be up and running as well. Our computer lab has been updated with new monitors and towers and is now serving students who wish to utilize the lab for homework, research, projects, or just plain browsing for fun. Our Primetime facility is open to students every day from 2:30 to 6 pm for them to participate in programming and recreational activities.

Positive Life Choices is held Tuesday afternoons from 3-4 pm

After school tutoring happens every day after school. Our Economics program runs every day.

is a young man who has been a part of our City-Life ministries at the Primetime

Community Center since he’s been in 6th grade. He has since graduated from South Side High

School and has attended some classes at Ivy Tech. Isiah comes into the Primetime Center with

a true servant’s heart! He has picked up trash, washed windows, vacuumed rooms, supervised

areas, and has done anything else we’ve needed done. This young man has truly demonstrated

a heart to help us in our time when we have had a lack of staff capacity. Now, Isiah has come

with an idea of having a video game club. There are some students who lack the athletic ability

to be on the basketball court, so he has voluntarily brought in his own gaming system in an effort

to make his idea a reality. Isiah has been doing a tremendous job in encouraging students to

participate. Please continue to pray for Isiah as he tries his best to make things happen at our

facility. It’s servants like Isiah who really make a difference in what we are trying to do at our

facility. Thank you Isiah!
