The first Western National Meet in northern California in 19 years held in Concord, California September 26-30 was everything that was expected with 45 cars registered and over 100 mem- bers, families, and friends in atten- dance. The host hotel was the Concord Hilton, which offered excellent service and a shady parking area for the Saturday show. The 100 degree tem- peratures which plagued much of California for months held off for our show days and the skyrocketing price of gas did not come until the week after our event. On the Wednesday before the show, our Lincoln limo overflowed with merry wine connoisseurs being chauf- feured to three outstanding Napa Valley wineries. The day included a private tour, tasting, and lunch at Franciscan Estate Winery and a very educational stop at the Robert Mondavi Winery aging rooms. After six hours we were still ready for Mike Cunningham’s evening wine and food pairing. On Thursday, we enjoyed a 30 mile driving tour to the fabulous Blackhawk Museum which holds a breathtaking collection of some of the world’s most (Continued on Pages 4-5) C ONTINENTAL C ONFAB O CTOBER 2012 1 Western Region Lincoln and Continental Owners Club Publication Volume 41 No 7, October, 2012 2012 Western National Meet Continental C C O O N N F F A A B B Lincoln and Lincoln and L I N C O L N A N D C O N T I N E N T A L O W N E R S C L U B WESTERN REGION FOUNDED 1955 Left, three of the five honored Mark IVs. Jeez, what a great show! Concordwas just so much fun; the winerytour; the food and wine pairing semi-nar, the Blackhawk, the successfulauction, the hospitality suite, and ashow field filled with so many fine‘70’s era Lincoln Continentals inkeeping with the theme of theNational Meet. It wasn’t a huge showas numbers of cars go, but it justseemed so right somehow. Ouradvertising apparently paid off as wewere “invaded” by Lincoln owners who came marketing their cars orjust stopped by to see the show. Jan and I were getting calls on theday of the show asking for information. Assistant Director and MeetChairperson Jeremy Sanford, his diligent committee, vendors, spon-sors, auction donators (and buyers) deserve our thanks and gratitudefor making this a wonderful event. Thanks to all of you who showedup with or without your Lincoln.

The Western Region will hold its annual Board meeting onNovember 3 beginning at noon, at South Bay Ford–Lincoln inHawthorne. If you would like to attend please let me know. Membersand guests (and their input) are always welcome.

If you’d like to attend the Goodguys 23rd Annual Autumn Get –Together in Pleasanton on November 10 and 11, I have a free registra-tion donated by the Goodguys to our National. Call or e-mail me andI’ll send it to you.

Just before we left for Concord, David from Orange called me abouthis triple black ’72 Mark IV that he wants to sell. The car has been“non-opped” since 1995 and is currently non-running, but has only76,000 miles. He’s thinking $6500.00. Call David at 714 997-5359or 460-0859

October usually marks the end of car event season, and Jim Ayreshas another fine event planned on the 20th. This event comes too lateto be promoted in this issue of the CONFAB. News of the event will beprinted in the next issue.

Continentally yours,Marv
