The challenges for the international statistical office and national statistical office when society is growing, many new factors will be arisen, such as: sustainable development; social prosperity assessment; data on natural resources and environment; later period of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) …that require national statistical office must have new appropriate approaches.

The supports of international organizations in the formulation and implementation of National Strategy for the Development of Statistics: PARIS21 supports methodologies to build Statistical Development Strategy; The World Bank (WB), The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA),… give technical supports in the process of construction and organizational implementation of the statistical development strategies.

Vietnam statistical capacity stays in average level compared with international and regional level, especially statistical methodology indicator with the low points (just 30/100), some statistical sectors are implement under the international standards (for example, SNA implementation rate was 2/6) .

Disadvantages:

This is the first Statistics Development Strategy in Vietnam. Therefore, the General Statistics Office lacks of experiences in establishment also organization to implement this StrategyLine Ministries and localities are still not caring much about statistical missions in general and the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics in particular, it leads to strategy activities are implemented slowly
