long as they remain open, we suggest bringing your own chair. If you are not sure if you should use the pool, play golf, tennis, pickleball, or shuffleboard, please stay home. On the positive side since we live in single-family homes, we can isolate ourselves if need be. It is easy for us to go outside for a walk and/or walk your pet or work in the garden. Imagine living in a high rise where you would need to use an elevator every time you left your dwelling. As you are aware, the restaurant is offering both delivery and pickup service. The phone numbers have been posted along with the menu. This allows us to provide a service to you and help our employees at the same time. It also helps our revenue stream while our restaurant and pub remain closed. Again, we are the most vulnerable demographic. To that extent I want to remind everyone to exercise sound judgement as we live through this serious health event. Be sure to wash your hands frequently, cover your mouth should you cough or sneeze, and most importantly stay home if you are sick. Be sure to keep up with the latest information from the CDC, NIH, and WHO, and the Florida Department of Health. We all now have extra time on our hands as a result of this virus. I am personally finding out how many bad movies and television shows there are for us to suffer through. There are things we can do to help pass the time that are more productive than simply watching television shows or movies. Now would be a good time to tackle those projects around the house that you have been avoiding for months. Just think how productive you will feel. Other ideas for passing the time include facetime calls with grandkids, putting puzzles together, reading books, painting, and enjoying other hobbies that you don’t always have time for. In closing, this is a difficult time for all of us. Each of our lives has been disrupted. We must think about the risk to ourselves and others before doing any activity. However, making sacrifices now could help us all get back to our normal routines more quickly. We need to think what is best for our community and how we can make TBGCC as safe as possible. Please take every precaution you can. This is a serious situation. Stay well.
TBCA MASTER BOARD
Stay Well by Bill Saffren, President Tampa Bay Community Association
I want to assure everyone that our management company and the Board of Directors is doing everything we can in
an attempt to provide the safest environment possible. While we understand we can not interrupt the spread of the coronavirus, we should do our part in trying to flatten the curve. As we are the most vulnerable demographic, we need to take every precaution possible to avoid the Covid-19 virus. This is a serious threat to everyone, not just us, and must be taken seriously. I understand our recent closures and event cancellations have caused inconvenience for everyone. However, the inconven-ience will hopefully be forgotten in the near term. Our actions in the past few days will help us to remain as healthy as possible. We continue to monitor the appropriate federal, state, and local health agencies and are prepared to adjust our current policy as required. Although we closed all of our buildings, our outdoor activities are available. We do ask that when using our golf courses, pools and courts you exercise proper social distancing and common sense. We are disinfecting the pools daily, but as

Proper Watering A Must As Gardening Season Starts by Scott Miller President
A s April begins we also come to the very dry season in
Florida. Please remember that your plants, shrubs and grass need water—all need at least 1 inch of water per week. To check, set a container in one or several beds or the grass. Run your sprinklers for
a known time and then measure the amount of water in the container. If less than one inch, adjust the time on your sprinkler to get to around one inch of water. Since Pasco County has a ban on watering more than one day a week, set your sprinklers so you can get 1 inch during the time your irrigation is operating.
Time To Trim Now is also the time to trim your shrubs. Never cut more than half the length of the main branch during this trim. After trimming, fertilize your plants using a granular 6-6-6 fertilizer, a time release fertilizer such as Osmocote or Dynamite, or a liquid fertilizer such as Miracle Grow bloom booster or 20-20-20. Read the instructions on the package as to the amount of fertilizer to use--either how many square feet an application covers or how to water the fertilizer in, but in any case do not overuse the amount of fertilizer that is spread on the area.
GARDEN CLUB
Time To Transplant Annual flowers and vegetables should now be planted if have not already done. You can always go to a big box store or a nursery to get plants that have been started earlier in the season that you can transplant now. Dig a hole twice as large as the potted plant you are putting in the ground and add peat moss and/or compost, if you have it, to the hole to enrich the soil for the plantings. Water these plants and make sure your irrigation system is working in the area of the plantings at a rate of 1 inch per week. The growing and harvest season is now well on its way in Florida, so enjoy the beautiful flowers and the fresh vegetables that will be coming from your garden.
Move Indoor Plants Outside Finally, give your indoor plants a break. Take them outdoors and let them stay out for the season if you have plants that can stand the outdoor conditions you have. Remember to water them at the same one inch per if your plants require the water. If they don’t require that amount, read up on how much water your particular plants need.
April Meeting Cancelled The Garden Club of TBGCC will suspend meetings until this virus problem is more under control. The field trip for April is canceled and May’s meeting may or may not hap-pen but everyone will get a notice. Enjoy gardening since plants may give allergies but not the virus. You may still contact me for your garden problems during this off time at [email protected], or 352-668-4365.
Celebration Of Life Luncheon Well Received
E very once in a while we have an opportunity to do something so awesome that it makes our hearts sing;
that’s the way The Tampa Bay Sunshine Committee feels about the “Celebration of Life” Luncheon they hosted at the Clubhouse in February for residents who lost loved ones during 2019. Attendance was terrific, food was delicious, and
SUNSHINE COMMITTEE
companionship delightful. For many, it was the first time the two groups (residents and Sunshine members) met face-to-face and the experience was heartwarming as family names were read and the hand-made Memorial Tree Christmas ornaments, a photograph of the tree, and a poem were presented to each family. It is an honor for this auspicious Committee to serve this wonderful community and we look forward to continuing to provide that extra bit of “sunshine” to TBGCC residents. Our mission is to lend a hand, bring a smile, share hope, and offer support and friendship to those in need and to their caregivers. If you would like to join this group, we meet second Mondays at 8am in the Clubhouse card room; volunteers are always welcome. Our heartfelt thanks to Loreall and the Club for helping make this luncheon a warm and memorable experience for all who attended.

Open House Helps Eighteen New Players Learn The Game
T he Pickleball Open House in February was an awesome day for pickleball players here at Tampa Bay!
Eighteen new players seemed excited to learn about Pickleball and many experienced players were available to help them. Bill Saffren, president of Tampa Bay Community Association, spoke about the impact pickleball is having on our Community and he mentioned some of the residents who have helped to make pickleball the second most popular activity at Tampa Bay. Carol McNaboe told those gathered of the monthly lunch-eons and how to sign up for the next one in April. Brian Eldredge explained to the group how to order pickle-ball shirts with Tampa Bay pickleball logo on on them, and introduced players to the Tampa Bay Team App, where players can see rules and regulations, photos, and the TBGCC Pickleball Vision Statement. Along with learning the game, the new players were able to meet many other enthusiastic players of the game. After
players were taught the skills, they were able to take a break and enjoy the many snacks available at the Open House. Thank you to all who came to learn the game and brought a food item to share. If you have not heard of pickleball and would like to learn the game, come to the courts on Sundays at 5:00 and have some fun.
Pickleball is now the second most-popular activity at TBGCC. For more information, please call Ralph at 614-353-5354.
