Outstanding facilities
Creating outstanding
learning environments
We recognise the importance of
creating a stimulating and well-
resourced environment with great
facilities so that our learners have the
best possible experience. We’ve
invested over £16m across both
campuses to create purpose built
facilities for our learners equipped
with the latest machinery and
technology.
Taking technology further
Our brand new £7m Technology
Centre opened in September 2011 at
the Middleton Campus with the most
up to date facilities, IT, tools and
equipment. The building
accommodates learners studying
courses in Manufacturing
Engineering, Electronic Engineering,
Motor Vehicle, Electrical Installation
and Carpentry & Joinery and
Brickwork.
The Learning Resource Centres
Our Learning Resource Centres at
both Middleton and Rochdale
campuses were recently upgraded
and have over 150 workstations on a

offering students around the clock
access from either the College or
from home to curriculum
applications and data. The user-
friendly centres are open until
8.30pm most days with dedicated
support staff available on site to
assist students.
Food and drink
Our catering facilities for students,
staff and visitors offer a wide range
of food and snacks prepared fresh
each day by our very own catering
students. Our bistro and refectory
menus cater for different tastes and
cultures and you’ll also find a coffee
shop that serves hot drinks and
snacks all day long.

best 3G facilities in the area with
floodlit all-weather pitches, excellent
changing rooms, a training room and

leagues use the Sports Park
including the all-weather sand based
kick pitch that is used by local junior
teams and adults wishing to play 5-
a-side football.

Musician, Disc Jockey, & Radio Presenter
Clint studied Fine Art at Hopwood Hall bec
ause he
wanted something different from the conventional
career choices at the time and because the
‘art college’ was regarded as one of the best
in the country.
Studying at Hopwood Hall changed his life,
particularly using the audio/visual technol
ogy as
part of his course. When eventually he join
ed the
band ‘Inspiral Carpets’, they soon started
to get
noticed, partly because they stood out du
e to the
visual elements that Clint introduced.
Now best known for his work as a radio pr
esenter
and DJ, both on 97.7 XFM Manchester and
in clubs
across the country Clint says:
“Studying at the college was a
complete awakening for me. My time
at Hopwood Hall was the most
important of my life as I was
encouraged by the teachers here to
do things that would have been
punished elsewhere. Working on the
radio and being in a band like the
Inspiral Carpets needs confidence
which is developed at a place like
Hopwood Hall. Now I do the things
that I love and get paid for them.”

Alison, who in 2006 and 2007 was named

“Hopwood had a really positive effect on
my confidence while I was there. If the
tutors hadn’t encouraged me to spend my
third year placement in London, I
wouldn’t have ended up working in the
capital for the following 10 years!
“The hospitality and catering industry has
some great opportunities for young
people who are willing to work hard to
build their careers. Setting up my own

Level 3 Textiles with Fashion 2nd Year
Story:
This course was recommended to me by a
friend who knew of my creative side. I get on
well with the tutors as they treat me as an
adult. I plan to go to University once I have
completed my course at the college. My
college course has helped me to apply for a
University place. I really enjoyed the
Photography element of the course as I could
take lots of photos of my family and friends
and use applications such as Photoshop.

Story:
I decided to study at Hopwood Hall as it’s close
to home and the facilities are really good. I
knew people that attended the college
previously and spoke highly of the course and
college.
Doing the course here has really helped me get
into university. The lecturers and students have
been really helpful and I have met some really
great people. I have developed my skills further
from A Level and without the course I wouldn’t
have felt confident progressing on to University.
