Guiding Principles

• Group relationships– The Venturer Unit agrees to encourage service back to the originating Groups by Unit members– Each Group commits to encourage, support and facilitate the ongoing development of

Endeavour Venturers– Brooklyn Scout Group is to act as the administrative group for the Unit for Scouts Census

purposes and other national body requirements

• Finances– A separate bank account has been established, with ongoing reports to be prepared for all

originating groups– Day to day management will be by the unit treasurer, with supervision from the Venturer

leaders.– Funds will be reported as part of the Brooklyn Group accounts.– The intent of the Unit is to be self-sustaining in terms of funds, with support provided by

originated groups as required.

• Use of property– Primary meeting location will be Brooklyn Scout Hall. Some meetings may be held at

originating groups as required. (Note – venturer den renovations will start shortly).– Primary gear provider will be Brooklyn Group, with support from other originating groups as

required. – The Unit will build its own equipment pool over time as funds permit.

Section Charter

• All members of the Section will be bound by ‘DADS’ rules. This means: no drugs, alcohol, discrimination or sex within the Section

• Uphold the vision of the NZ Scouting movement and abide by the Scout Law and Promise.

• The Section is open to members from any Scout Group of origin as well as new Venturers.– Members will be encouraged to recognise and provide service to the

community and their originating Scout Groups.

• These statements are in addition to the existing Venturer Charter available on www.scouts.org.nz
