We hope you will join us to see Life stories: real people revealed in portraits and objects. This exhibition will share stories about the fascinating lives of people associated with Chatsworth through the placement of selected portraits and objects. Focusing on the traces of lives in the house, the exhibition presents objects in new ways, demonstrating how past figures continue to resonate in our lives today.

With so many exciting events and exhibitions to discover, as well as old favourites including the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials and the Chatsworth Country Fair, we hope you will enjoy visiting us many times over the coming year.

The Royal Horticultural Society Chatsworth Flower Show returns in June to delight our green fingered visitors. The show blends tradition with unexpected, innovative design and we are delighted to provide the backdrop and inspiration for such a ground-breaking event.

Every day brings something different at Chatsworth – whether you’re here to admire the splendour of the house, explore the garden, meet the animals in the farmyard, enjoy afternoon tea and shopping in the stables or at the award-winning Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop in Pilsley – we hope that every time you leave, something else will inspire you to return.

We look forward to welcoming you.

The Duke and Duchess of Devonshire

We look forward to seeing you

7 November 2020 – 3 January 2021 Bookings open for Christmas 2020 in late February.

Please note select rooms on the upper floor will be closed for annual conservation during the festive period.

We operate timed ticketing in the house at Christmas; this ensures the house does not become too busy. All groups visiting during this period must be pre-booked into an agreed timeslot. Minimum size for a group is 20 people.

Groups visiting at weekends or during the Christmas market are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of £250 to secure their booking.

During Christmas, from the week before the Christmas market to the week after, all coaches must pre-pay for their visit two weeks before arrival. During this time, alternative arrangements for coach drop off and parking will also apply.

Please note that we are not able to take bookings from any groups wishing to visit on a grounds only basis, as we have no facilities to manage ad hoc drop offs and collections. Unfortunately unbooked coaches will not be permitted to drop off their passengers on the estate. We strongly advise all groups wishing to visit Chatsworth during the Christmas market to book a timeslot to visit the house and garden. Early booking is highly recommended. Please call the Booking office on 01246 565430 to book.
