AUC’s New Cairo campus is designed to accommodate 5,500 full-time students and 1,500 faculty and staff members. The $400 million, 260-acre campus is technologically advanced and environmentally sensitive. Offering state-of-the-art resources to students and faculty from around the world, the campus weaves Egyptian urban and architectural traditions into a modern campus and is designed to be accessible to persons with disabilities. It is equipped with modern classrooms, laboratories, lecture halls and other essential facilities to support current and future teaching methods, curricula and educational technologies.

ATHLETICSAUC has a fully equipped sports center with facilities for everything from karate to basketball to yoga. The University also has 22 athletic programs and sports teams that compete against other universities throughout Egypt and the region.

AUC’s Office of Athletics offers quality athletic activities and learning opportunities to the entire University community. Its programs promote healthy lifestyles, discipline, teamwork and leadership development, as well as high standards of ethical conduct and sportsmanship. BOOKSTOREThe AUC Bookstores provide textbooks and general literature to meet the needs of the AUC community and its visitors. The stores stock an extensive selection of English-language books on a wide variety of subjects, and also carry the complete range of AUC Press publications. Additionally, Arabic publications are available.

The stores specialize in books on ancient and modern Egyptian history, Middle East studies, Islamic studies and Arabic literature in translation.

• Office supplies, souvenirs, AUC shirts and baseball caps are also available.

FACULTY HOUSING The New Cairo faculty housing buildings are located 500 meters from the AUC New Cairo campus.

Newly constructed, quality apartments are available for faculty, administrators and staff members.

Faculty housing is also available in other areas of Cairo.

FINANCIAL SERVICES• Bank

A branch of the Commercial International Bank (CIB) is located on the plaza level of the Administration Building. CIB’s working hours are Sunday through Thursday, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.*

• On-campus ATMs The AUC New Cairo CIB branch currently has three automated teller machines (ATM) available on the University premises. The first one is situated on the garden level of the Administration Building. The second is located in front of the Center for the Arts, and the third one is inside the Campus Center’s main cafeteria. The National Bank of Egypt also has one ATM located on the garden level of the Administration Building.

• Cashier AUC’s main cashier is located in the Administration Building on the ground floor in room G027; working hours are from 9 am to 2 pm.*

The cashier accepts cash, credit cards and payments by check.

LIBRARYAUC has the largest English-language research collection in Egypt. The University’s Main Library — designed with open stacks and a fully automated catalog system — features more than 400,000 volumes, including thousands of e-books, more than 1,700 current periodical subscriptions and more than 80 databases, providing access to an additional 6,000 periodicals. Library services include research instruction and assistance, and document delivery of resources obtained from other libraries.

The library also houses the University’s Rare Books and Special Collections Library.

MEDICAL SERVICESMedical Services provide healthcare to full-time students, faculty and staff – and also assist campus visitors in case of medical emergency. The Office of Medical Services is located on the plaza level of the Campus Center in room P051.

Normal working hours are from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Emergency hours are from 4:00 pm to 8:30 am.

Staff members are available Sunday through Thursday, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Pharmacy services are available from 9 am to 5 pm.

RESIDENTIAL LIFEThe University Residences for students are composed of 12 furnished units, divided into five male and seven female units. Each unit has 22 single and 20 double beds, a lounge, study room, courtyard and terrace. Each room is equipped with beds, desks, chairs, closets, bookshelves, heating and cooling systems and high-speed Internet. Units share a lounge with a stove/oven, kettle, fridge and microwave. Residents can watch TV, dine, socialize or study in the common areas. In the common area, there are several study rooms and a computer lab open 24/7. The University Residences allow visitors during certain hours, and can accommodate overnight visitors based on room availability. The residences are also equipped to assist students with special needs.

Other ServicesStudents living at the University Residences on campus receive the following services:

• AUC Sports Center next door with 24/7 outdoor soccer and basketball courts

• Food outlets throughout the campus and a supermarket within the AUC Sports Center

Overnight Visitors• The Office of Residential Life offers guest

accommodation to the AUC community and the families of full-time residents at the University Residences. Accommodation is also available to individuals and groups attending conferences, workshops or events affiliated with AUC.

• To reserve an overnight guest room, email [email protected] at least 48 hours prior to the intended check-in and during official working hours, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday to ensure you receive a timely booking confirmation.

SecurityAs the University Residences are located on campus, the standard security protocols are applicable to all residents and guests living there. Security personnel are available on a 24/7 basis, and the residences are surrounded by fences/walls to prevent intrusions and any unauthorized access.

Emergency NumbersThere are two reception desks and service points operating on a 24/7 basis which serve both sides of the residences. The male reception’s phone number is 02.2615.4020, and the female reception’s phone number is 02.2615.4010.

Residential advisers and directors live among the students to assist them at all hours. Their contact information is available at the reception desks and is posted within the units.
